A new coffee shop has opened up recently so I thought of this one. I hope you guys enjoy it!
First day of new job and summer break. A coffee shop opened up 2 weeks ago and said I could start working there as soon as school ended. So here I am in the uniform in my car. It's a short drive from my house and I get there 10 minutes before my shift.
"Hi there. Our special today... Wait, your the new girl. Boss hasn't told us anything about you yet. The others are going to be so jealous when they find out I met the mystery girl first! Where are my manners? I'm BFF/N. (A/N: y'all have never met before. You just develop a good relationship.) I'm from (small nearby county/town)," during her speech, my legs had unwillingly led me to the front. We shook hands and I went behind the counter.
"So I don't look like a complete fool, can you show me around and some possible jobs and such?" I winced at my awkwardness.
"Sure, come on," she led me to the back and explained everything. We made our way back up front. " by the way, Boss is going to stop by today to see how you are doing. He didn't do that with any of us. We actually never met him before. One girl says he's an old man hiring so many young teenage girls, " I nodded and she taught me to use the register. I sat on the stool as BFF/N talked my ear off.
"Hey BFF/N! How was the party the other night?" A swarm of girls with a few guys came in. BFF/N introduced all of us and I sat on my stool awkwardly. The girls tried talking to me but a customer came in. They fought to take his order.
"Just the usual," the man was looking at his phone.
"The usual?" BFF/N nodded.
"Vanilla iced latte with marshmallow, English toffee, and butter rum flavoring. We all fell in love the first day he waltzed into the building," I looked up and found the man staring right at me. "He never looks up from his phone for anything," I hugged her and she looked at him. He looked back down at his phone, red creeping up his cheeks.
"Are any of you from this town?"
"Nope. All from where I'm from. Your the only person," one of the girls handed the man his drink. He stepped to the side, right in front of me and BFF/N. I could feel all the other girls staring at us.
"I didn't think that your boss hired anyone from (county/town where you are from)," he looked up at me with familiar eyes.
"I guess he saw something in me he didn't see in other candidates in my area," the man smiled.
"Guess so. Well, I better be off. I'll see you bright and early tomorrow morning," he walked out of the shop and a buzz fell over the other workers.
"What was that? He's into you. He has never looked at us, directly talked to us," BFF/N squeaked. "And how did he know where you were from?"
"Maybe he overheard you talking or guessed," we worked until lunch then alternated shifts. Me and BFF/N say at the employee tables and ate.
"Hello ladies. Just finishing break?" We nodded and stood.
"Can we help you?" I asked, halfway recognizing the voice.
"Just checking on you all. I'll be right back," the man went into the side door. We stood and followed him. The man talked to the workers and complemented the on their work. I
"Y/N, a word?"
"Sure," I followed the boss to his office. He shut the door behind me and sat behind the desk. He gestured for me to sit across from him and he took his sunglasses off.
"Do you know why I hired you?"
"No, C/N, I don't," his eyes raised in surprise. "I recognized you before," I looked down.
"This is partly why I didn't hired people from (county/town you are from). I didn't want people to know I inherited this place from my grandfather. I changed the name and everything. You knew my reputation from school and didn't want others to know because that would decrease sales. We took a chance on each other. We know everything about each other. You were there for me when he died," I looked at him.
"We both know what happened next. We ran from each other and now you want a fresh start," he nodded and walked to the front of the desk in front of me.
"Please don't talk about this to the others. I don't want to lose you again."
"I don't want to lose you either."
"I need an assistant manager. In a few weeks, do you want to come in and interview for it?" I nodded. "I didn't know who else I could trust with it," I stood and turned to go. He gently took my wrist.
"Can we try again?" He whispered. "Even if it's just friends. I want you back," I hugged him.
"I've missed you," he hugged me back and I went back to work.
I went out into the parking lot with my frozen coffee. I saw a note in my car.
I'll pick you up around 6. Be ready to go. -C/N
I smiled and drove to my house. He picked me up and took us to an apartment. We went inside and made some dinner. We sat on the couch and watched movies. Some things never change.
There was a knock on the door and C/N opened it. I heard a woman's voice and I put my head back down. Something fell and I got up. A girl had her arms around C/N and trying to kiss him. He pushed her away but she kept coming back.
"Come on C/N. You know you want..." She slurred and I tore her arms off of him. "Who's this? A little s..."
"I would love for you the finish that sentence," she turned slightly and nearly fell over. I held her upright and dragged her out of the apartment. She held out her fists in a swaying fighting stance. I knocked her to the ground .
"Where does psychotic live?"
"Three doors down. Her boyfriend will take care of her," I took her to her place and went back. "At least I know you haven't changed," he pecked my lips and went over to the couch. I locked the door and went back to the couch. "Come here and quit worrying. She's on the fired list anyway."
A few months later... C/N POV
Y/N and me have been dating in secret and she is also my assistant manager. I paced the dining area while BFF/N laughed. She and Y/N were the only ones scheduled for today and she knows something is going on between us.
"If I tell you what's wrong, will you quit laughing?" I scowl. She nodded and I handed her the box. She inspected it for a moment then her hand flew to her mouth.
"Y/N?" I nodded and took the box back. "It's gorgeous. How long have you guys been dating?"
"A couple of months. I love her, BFF/N. I couldn't let her go," a door slammed shut and Y/N walked into the room, hair a mess and a wrinkled uniform. She muttered and clocked in. I slipped the box into my pocket and stood next to her. Her angry eyes calmed looking into mine.
"Hey boss. Whats up?"
"What happened? Were you running late or something?" She shook her head.
"She attacked me again, or at least tried. I went over to your apartment to pick something up and she jumped me from behind. They are moving and she isn't too happy about us or them leaving. I don't want you to get hurt by her. Maybe if you moved in with me or something," I smiled at her and cupped her cheek.
"Alright. This weekend I'll stay at your place. We'll see what happens after," I stayed at her apartment and went back early to get fresh work cloths.
"Was your door like that before?" I shook my head and headed inside. Both of us knew what happened and I reported the break in to the police. They caught the woman going into my apartment. We went back and she helped me pack.
"Can I move in? I don't feel safe that she can get into my apartment."
"Yeah. It's fine," we drove all of my stuff to her apartment and unpacked some of it.
"Thank you for letting me move in," she smirked and put a box into the closet.
"C/N. How long have we known each other for? Do you really think I would allow something like that to carry on?" I shook my head and she stood in front of me.
"On that note..." I looked down. "Y/N. We have been friends for years and I don't want us to continue like this," she stepped back.
"Are you..." She sat on the bed, looking like she was about to cry. I slid down next to the bed.
"NO, no. I don't know how to make this better. Y/N, will you marry me?" I pulled out the small box and years slipped down her face. She nodded and I slid the ring on her finger. She tackled me in a hug and we fell the short distance to the floor.
"Yes, C/N. I will marry you," she leaned down and kissed me.
Little bit long but I liked it. I am officially finished with school for this year!!!!! I hope you guys enjoyed it!
