you knew the amount of times he injured himself. whether it was a simple bruise, a sprain, or an injury. you were always there, curing him and scolding him for not being careful. but he always got another bruise the day after, so you knew he wasn't listening to you.
you knew how much he loved volleyball. ever since he was little, he would run up to you with a volleyball in his hand and play for hours until the sun set.
even to this day, he reminded you of the little oikawa who would cling onto you every time iwaizumi would shout at him. even to this day, he loved volleyball more than anyone you knew. even to this day, he shed his blood, sweat, and tears for volleyball.
you sorrowfully glanced down at oikawa, who was still staring down at the floor.
you knew he was holding his tears in, just for you. you knew he was trying to put up a wall to mask his emotions. you knew he was not fine. you knew he was not okay. you knew he was frustrated as hell. you knew he wanted to go back in time and beat them. you knew everything what he felt.
why?
because you were you: someone he trusted, someone he spent years with, and someone he loved.
you opened your arms and tightly wrapped them around his shoulders. you could feel him trembling under you as he slowly brought his arms and gently snaked them around your waist.
"you did well, tooru. i'm proud of you."
as soon as those words left your lips, he started crying, letting all his raw emotions out. he gripped onto your shirt tighter as his cries echoed loudly through the locker room. you accepted all of his weeps and sobs, and at the same time, tears starting tumbling down your cheeks.
every little thing feels so much softer, so much sweeter, with you.
