Error or Reboot

Error stared out at the multiverse. He messed up again. Every time he created a multiverse something goes wrong. He was Reboot once upon a time, but a mistake he made in his multiverse caused it to die a slow painful death.

Filled with shame Reboot couldn't bring himself to try to create another. Unfortunately his loneliness and the empty nothingness that now existed was to powerful a temptation to resist for an eternity. So another multiverse was formed different than the last.

And Reboot created Undertale. It's to bad that the problem with this multiverse started showing immediately. The resets caused other universes to form copies of the original that served as alternative timelines for it.

Reboot cringed that was not good at all. Some copies formed to close to each other and violently exploded. Reboot cleaned up the pieces that blew up before they smashed into other universes.

That wasn't the only problem. Sometimes the copies didn't completely form leaving them incomplete messes. And Reboot whimpered curled up deep in the darkness and decided to pretend the multiverse didn't exist. He couldn't stand watching this one fall like his old one.

He couldn't keep track time and the next time he looked up he was shocked to find new universes so different yet so similar to Undertale. It confused him until he found the existence of Ink. He wasn't sure if he should be horrified or awed at the way the multiverse evolved.

A central point made for all the universes and papers used to seal off the uncontrolled copying called the doodle sphere. With its own creator who lacked a soul, but existed in a symbiotic relationship with the multiverse to gain emotions.

But the problem was still there sometimes a glitch causes copies or strange occurrences with the newer universes. Reboot wasn't sure what he should do as the problem was taken care of and the multiverse was still here.

But then another problem cropped up, viruses that infect and bring down universes before spreading to others. Even this creator didn't know what to do. Reboot thought to himself was it really okay to do nothing as this multiverse wasn't just a small group of universes anymore but thousands of aus.

Would he continue to cower and let the darkness rain in his thoughts. No he was better than that. He couldn't be Reboot anymore though as his reboot abilities could cause this multiverse to crash. It's why a being like him limits his abilities so much as the multiverse can't handle getting reality bent in certain ways.

So Error was born as Reboot changed himself. It might of been a bit self punishing to make himself look like a hobo but Reboot or Error felt like he deserved it. He did what he could within the limits of the multiverse for the infected universes some could be saved and others were put in the antivoid once Error figured out it could be used to slowly delete the determined au souls inside it.

He'll never understand the strange rules of multiverses and he found a strange nostalgia in fighting Ink like he used to do with Eraser. Ink seemed to understand what he was doing but just loved to fight and anything for soulless beings entertainment. It went like this for a long time.

He remembers his old multiverse's aus golden age where universes started to be crossed by others and new inventions started allowing easier travel. First it was Nightmare and then people escaping their own aus.

He wasn't exactly sure what to make of Core Frisk and the Omega Timeline. He wonders how much the kid knows and avoids the Omega Timeline like the plague as most of those monsters are from universes he had to erase because of the virus problems.

He played the role of the villain as the true answer would unlikely be accepted. Well Ink saw throw the role he played, but that guy liked playing the role of a hero for fun. Dream was more annoying than anything like Nightmare's constant recruitment pitch he spewed his own mercy speeches.

Was that how Reboot had sounded before he understood the weird balance between creation and destruction of his old multiverse.
