A New Boyfriend

It's been a year since Colby and I broke up, we took some time away to heal but after a few weeks we couldn't do it. We're friends, I mean the last few months of our relationship was more like lust than love and we both came to the conclusion that we just didn't love each other as we once did. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and people come into you're life for a reason, I believe Colby was there to show me love again and how I deserve to be treated. I got into a new relationship a couple months ago and we kept it quiet but today is the day I'm telling my friends that I'm seeing someone. I know Colby is still protective of me (in a friendly way) and that scares me that he won't be happy or they won't get on. I'm waiting outside my boyfriend, James, apartment scrolling on my phone when the car door opens
"Hey princess"
"Hey. Are you ready?"
"Yep. I'm a little nervous of the guys though" I laugh knowing that they will properly question him. I start up the car and drive to the Trap house, I put the code in and park up. Sam greets us at the door
"Hey YN"
"Hey Sammy, this is James. The guy I was telling you about" Sam and Kat are the only ones who kinda knows I've been seeing someone as they are the easiest people on earth to talk to. Sam reaches out a hand
"Hey bro welcome to the trap house" the shake hands and we walk in, Kat runs up to me and hugs me
"Finally your here we've been waiting ages"
"Sorry about that" I laugh "Kat this is James"
"Hi it's so nice to meet you. Come on everyone's already eating pizza" we sit down on the couch and I notice Colby glaring at me. I clear my throat
"Errm ok guys so I want you to meet James. My boyfriend"
"Yes my girls finally getting some" Brennen shouts which makes me laugh, I look at Colby who has no expression
"So how did you meet?" Corey asks
"You know when I told you about that awful date I had"
"Which one? The one who called you the wrong name or the one who was more interested in himself" Devyn says laughing
"The second one. Anyway I got up to go to the toilet and we bumped into each other. James was on a bad date as well so we decided to help each other out. We then went for ice cream and yeah we started talking" I look at James and smile
"What do you do for a living?" Tara asks
"I'm the CEO of Hot Topic"
"Woah that's so cool" Xepher says. Well at least the girls are warming up to him
"What are your intentions towards YN?" Colby pops up. I look at him confused
"Colby" I slightly shout
"YN it's fine. You said the boys might ask me questions"
"Yeah but still"
"I really like YN and I would love to get to know her more. I know her friends are a huge part of her life and I don't want to come in between your dynamics in the friendship group"
"Have you ever cheated" Colby asks again I rub my face on my hands
"No and I would never it's disgusting"
"Colby can I talk to you for a minute" I say annoyed. He gets up and we walk outside
"What the fuck Colby?"
"What? You know I care about you and that will never change. I just don't want you getting hurt"
"I know just lay off the questions a little yeah?"
"Ok I'm sorry. I'll apologise"

Sams POV
"Hey bro sorry about him"
"He's YNs ex isn't he"
"Yeh but don't worry they fell out of love a long time ago" Kat says sitting next to me
"No it's not that. I think it's nice that they've managed to stay friends, it shows that whatever happened in the relationship wasn't toxic" I smile at James
"Look we all just want what's best for YN she's family so if you screw this up" Corey says
"I won't. Promise" YN and Colby both walk in. YN sits next to James.

Years later
James and I got engaged a few months ago. Colby found his other person and are now expecting a baby and I couldn't be happier knowing that I will be this babies god mother. Everything worked out how it was supposed to.
