Chapter 54: Can we talk?

I just continue walking. Not looking back or knowing where I was going. Why is he doing this to me? He says he loves me, but tells others differently. Is he ashamed of me? Am I not good enough? What have I done to deserve this?

I love him. At least, I think I do. But, he supposedly loves me, right?

I stop and look around. The place was practically empty. Only 3 or 4 people walking about. I look at my phone, 4:40. The O2L signing was starting in 20 minutes. I'm not even sure I want to go anymore. I don't even know where it's taking place. My mind is spinning at this point. I sit down on a nearby bench, feeling like I could cry my eyes out. I rest my head in my hands.

I can't keep doing this.

?: Mariella?

I slowly look up.

Lisa: It is you.

She walks over and sits beside me.

Lisa: Why are you here alone?

Mariella: I was just walking around and got tired.

Lisa: Where's your sister?

Mariella: At Joey, Sawyer and Luke's panel.

Lisa: You didn't want to go?

I shake my head. She frowns.

Lisa: Are you alright?

Mariella: N-n-no.

Oh god. Not the tears now!

Lisa: What's wrong?!

She grabs my hand.

Mariella: C-can I ask you something?

She nods, furiously.

Mariella: Did Shane ever tell people about you two dating?

Lisa: Yes. Why?

Mariella: He never felt ashamed to tell anyone about you?

Lisa: No. I don't understand why you're asking me these questions? What's going on?

I clear my throat.

Mariella: I'm seeing someone, but we're not dating and he keeps saying that he's single and not seeing anyone.

Lisa: Oh.

Mariella: The first time he said I was just his "good friend" and now he's saying he's not seeing anyone at all.

Lisa was quiet.

Mariella: He even said he loved me. If you love someone you wouldn't be afraid to admit you're seeing someone. Is he just lying to me to get what he wants and than just throw me away like I'm nothing.

Lisa squeezes my hand.

Lisa: It seems both of you aren't communicating well. Have you told him any of this?

She sounds like Tyler now. But, their both right. I shake my head.

Lisa: You need to talk to him! Let him know you're upset and angry. If you don't tell him how you feel, you'll just keep hurting.

I slowly nod.

Lisa: Once you clear things up, I'm sure it will all work out.

I sniffle, smiling at the ground. She pats my hand, comfortingly.

Lisa: So, don't be sad anymore! Let's go do something together to get your mind off of this.

I remember Ricky's invitation.

Mariella: What time is it?

Lisa: 5:02.

Mariella: I was suppose to go to the O2L signing at 5. But, I have no idea where it is.

Lisa: I know where it is. I can take you there, if you want.

Mariella: Really? I don't want to take you away from anything you have to do.

Lisa: It's fine! I don't have to meet up with Shane until 7.

She gets up, pulling me up with her.

Lisa: We're actually pretty close to where their at.

She leads me to the exact same place Veronica's signing was held. Really?

The crowd was even bigger than before. It seemed like the whole area was packed with fans, wall to wall. We walk towards the front of the line where the boys were seated at the table. Ricky was taking a picture with two girls. They chat for a moment before hugging him and walking off. I look to the other boys and notice Connor and Jc were talking and staring at us.

Ricky: Mariella, you made it!

Connor and Jc look at Ricky confused as he walked towards Lisa and I. He hugs us both.

Ricky: I didn't know you knew Lisa?

Lisa: I didn't know Mariella knew you!

We chuckle.

Ricky: We met last night.

Lisa: Ah.

She shot me a quick smug look. She's getting the wrong idea!

Ricky: Well, like I said let me introduce you to the boys.

We walk over to the table. Some girls in line were giving us the evil eye. They must be hardcore O2L fan girls.

Ricky: Mariella, this is Sam and Kian.

Sam: Hey, nice to meet you.

Mariella: You too.

Kian: Isn't your sister a Youtuber?

Mariella: She is.

We continue walking down the line.

Ricky: Down here is Connor and Jc.

Connor: Mariella, it's very nice too meet you.

He stuck at his hand. I shook it, smiling.

Jc: Mariella is a pretty name.

Mariella: Thanks.

I couldn't help, but get butterflies in the pit of my stomach.

Ricky: And, last is the youngest member, Trevor.

Trevor: Hey.

He's such a cutie!

Mariella: Hi. You're audition for the X-Factor was so good.

Trevor: Thanks!

Ricky: So, what have you been up too all day?

Mariella: Had a signing this morning with Veronica and just walked around till now.

Ricky: Have any plans for later?

Mariella: Not-...

?: Mariella.

I turn around.

What is he doing here?

Ricky: Hey, Sawyer!

They do a handshake. Ricky notices the crutches.

Ricky: What happened to you?

Sawyer: I'll tell you later.

He faces me.

Sawyer: Can we talk?

Lisa looks at me. Her expression shows that she now knows who I need to have that conversation with. I nod.

Mariella: I'll see you later, Ricky.

Ricky: Wait. Can I get your number so we can talk later.

I reach for my phone. Lisa places her hand on mine.

Lisa: You go. I'll give him your number.

I grin, nodding.

She smiles, pulling Ricky towards the others.

I turn around, looking at Sawyer.

Sawyer: Let's go to your room.
