Chapter 53: Single or seeing someone?

Veronica: So, what did you think?

I sigh, slouching down in my seat.

Mariella: I think if I sign anything else my hand will fall off!

She smirks, getting up.

Veronica: Well, time to go walk around.

Mariella: What time is it?

She takes out her phone.

Veronica: 12, why? Do you have somewhere to be?

Mariella: Not till 5.

She raises an eyebrow.

Veronica: What's going on then?

Mariella: O2L signing.

She smirks.

Veronica: Oh, I didn't know you were a fan girl?

She giggles.

Mariella: I do like them, but I'm not a fan girl. I was invited.

Veronica: By who?

Mariella: Ricky.

She stares at me, blankly.

Mariella: I bumped into him last night when I was walking back to the room.

Veronica: Ah, I didn't know he was staying on our floor.

Mariella: Neither did I.

Veronica: Well, I assume you forgot Sawyer, Luke and Joey's panel starts at 3 today.

I froze. That's today?!

Veronica: Yeah.. You definitely forgot.

Mariella: I haven't even spoken to Sawyer since we got here.

Veronica: Why don't you call him?

I pull out my phone, dialing his number. It rings, continuously. I hang up.

Veronica: So?

Mariella: He didn't answer. It just kept ringing.

Did something happen?

Veronica: Try again.

I nod, redialing. It rings twice, than stops.

Mariella: Hello?

Nothing.

Mariella: Sawyer? Hello?

Something rustles in the background.

Mariella: Sawyer?! Can you hear me?

The call disconnects. I hang up, staring at the screen.

Veronica: What happened?

Mariella: I don't know. Someone answered, but didn't say anything.

What's going on? I frown.

Veronica: Don't worry. Maybe, he had a bad connection.

Mariella: Maybe..

Veronica: Come on, you'll see him later. Let's just walk around to pass the time.

Veronica introduces me to many others as we walk around. I got to chat with Grace Helbig, Hannah and Mamrie Hart. Even the Shaytards. It was only for a few minutes, but I was happy with what I got.

In the back of my mind, I was thinking about Sawyer. Was he okay? Why hasn't he tried to contact me? I kept replaying the silence I heard over the phone. Did he not answer me on purpose? Or, did someone else answer the phone?
