Chapter 40: Civil.

Tyler: Meghan and Joey? Dating?? When did this happen?

Mariella: I don't know. I guess after he got kicked out.

He places a finger on his chin.

Tyler: Oh, right. Veronica told me about that.

Mariella: I had no idea Joey had feelings for her.

Tyler: Does it bother you?

I don't know. I did get a little jealous before. Does it really bother me? I lay back, sighing. I hear the front door open. Sawyer comes in with a plastic bag in hand.

Sawyer: Here, Mari-....

He stops when he sees Tyler cheekily waving at him.

Sawyer: Tyler? What are you doing here?

He smiles, sneakily.

Tyler: Didn't I tell you I was coming by to see the patient?

Sawyer: No.

Tyler: Whoops, must've slipped my mind.

Sawyer rolls his eyes, taking a seat beside me.

Sawyer: Here, take two of these.

He passes me a box of Tylenol, cold and flu.

Sawyer: I'll get you some water.

He leaves as I tore open the box. Tyler yells across the room.

Tyler: I can't believe you managed to get the right medicine!

Sawyer comes back in with a glass of water.

Sawyer: You think I'm that useless?

Tyler sarcastically glances to the side.

Tyler: Well, I wouldn't say that..

I chuckle, sitting up. Taking the full glass from Sawyer.

Mariella: Thanks.

He smiles, brushing a stray hair out of my face.

Tyler: Wow.. You do love her..

He snatches his hand away.

Sawyer: What did you-...?

He pauses, peering at me.

Mariella: What?! He's just that good.

He lifts his hands up, pleased.

Tyler: What can I say.

Sawyer smirks, taking the glass from my hand and setting it down on the bedside table.

Sawyer: I do. But, I'm sure she already told you the rest.

Tyler: She did. It's just weird how you two aren't official, yet Meghan and Joey apparently are.

Sawyer cocks his head to the side.

Sawyer: Meghan and Joey? Official? As in, their a couple?

Way to let the cat out of the bag Tyler!

I chime in.

Mariella: Uh, yeah. Joey stopped by the Cafe the other day to ask about moving back in and Meghan was with him. She said they were going on a date after.

He completely ignores my statement.

Sawyer: Well, how did he take it?

I can't tell him how Joey over-reacted and said those harsh things. I'm not even sure why he did. But, I don't want to lie to him.

Mariella: He didn't take it too well.

Tyler: What did he say?

Mariella: Well, words were exchanged-..

Not from me that is.

Mariella: And, let's just say Joey and I aren't on good terms right now.

Sawyer: What? Why the hell would he get mad at you? I should've been the one to tell him.

I shake my hands.

Mariella: No, no! It's fine. That would've ended worse.

Sawyer: What exactly did he say?

Shit! I can't. What do I say?

Mariella: Ehh, nothing too rash. He just thinks I'm taking your side over his.

Sawyer: You've got to be kidding me!

Sawyer was getting annoyed. I didn't know what else to say. Tyler throws in his two sense when he notices the jam I created for myself.

Tyler: Look, calm down. I'm sure Joey just said those things spur of the moment.

Sawyer: I don't care! He can't just do this when he was in the wrong.

Tyler: I understand. We just need to get this straightened out. We have Vidcon coming up in less than a week.

Vidcon? Less than a week.. How are we going to fix this in less than a week?!

Tyler: If we can't straighten things out before then, than we'll just have to be civil.

Sawyer: Lets not talk about this anymore. Mariella needs her rest.

He nods, agreeing.

Tyler: You're right.

They both get up to leave.

Mariella: Wait. Tyler, could you take me home?

Sawyer barks, shutting everything down.

Sawyer: I'll take you home! Just get some sleep.

Tyler looks to Sawyer shocked, than back at me.

Tyler: I'll see you later.

I wave as they both exit. Sawyer slightly slamming the door behind him. I felt horrible that I brought up the situation. I don't know if I'll be able to sleep now.
