Zach's POV
-Christmas-
I woke up in my bed next to my boyfriend, Daniel. We're at my house for Christmas, then we'll go to Daniel's house for New Years.
I saw Daniel wake up and he turned around to look at me.
"Good morning," I welcomed.
"Good morning," Daniel replied. "It's Christmas today."
"Yes it is," I said.
"Let's go downstairs!" Daniel exclaimed. We both got up and threw on shirts then Daniel started running down the stairs, I started chasing him.
"Dani! Wait up!" I shouted as he ran to the back door. He ran outside to the backyard and I followed him, eventually I caught up to him and we both collapsed on the ground. Daniel was on top of me and he brought his lips down to mine, he held my neck while holding his chest up with his elbows, I wrapped my arms around his waist as we kissed.
We eventually pulled away and I smiled at him.
"I love you Zach," he said quietly.
"I love you too Dani," I replied. We both smiled at each other.
"Boys! Breakfast is ready," my mom shouted out the back door.
"Coming!" I replied. Dani stood up then helped me up, I held his hand as we walked inside. We walked over to the table and sat down beside each other, my mom handed us both a plate with waffles and maple syrup. "Thanks mom."
"Thank you," Daniel said quietly.
"Your welcome, we'll open presents as soon as Ryan and Reese are awake. I'm sure they'll be excited to see you guys."
"Ok," I said with a smile. Daniel and I started eating our waffles then I felt him grab my hand. I looked over at him and he looked nervous. "You ok babe?" I asked.
"Just nervous," he replied.
"About what?"
"This will just be my first Christmas away from my family," he told me quietly, with his head down.
"Oh Dani, come here," I said and opened my arms. Daniel hugged me and I held him in my arms tightly, I gently rubbed his back then kissed his head. "Why don't you FaceTime them after we open gifts?"
"Ok," Daniel said.
"And you'll see them in less than a week," I told him.
"Yeah I guess," he said quietly.
"You ok?"
"Yeah, thanks babe," he said. I kissed him quickly then we continued to eat our breakfast, I never let go of his hand.
About 20 minutes later I heard people running down the stairs, I realized that it was Ryan and Reece so I walked into the kitchen where they could see me.
"ZACHY!!" Reece shouted then ran to me. I held her in my arms and I kissed the top of her head.
"Hi Reecey bear," I said quietly. I picked her up and she wrapped her legs around my waist and wrapped her arms around my neck.
"I missed you so much."
"I missed you too Reece," I replied. I let Reece into the ground then she ran to Daniel and hugged him. Ryan ran over to me and I hugged him tightly.
"I missed you Zach," he said into my shoulder.
"I missed you too Ryan," I replied. I rubbed his hair and messed it up, he gave me a smile then we all went to the living room to open gifts. I sat beside Daniel and Reese, we all took turns opening gifts, I went last.
"Let me go get your present," Daniel told me.
"Ok....?" I questioned. Daniel ran up to my room then came back down with a small box, he handed it to me with a smile. I opened the top of the box and saw a letter, I opened the letter and started reading it. "I love you to infinity and beyond, you work hard and you deserve a break. Will you join me in a 10 day trip to Hawaii?" I read. I looked up at Daniel with tears in my eyes. "Really?"
"Yeah, if you want to," he replied with a smile.
"Of course," I said then hugged him tightly. We pulled away and I kissed him quickly. "When are we leaving?"
"Instead of taking a plane back to LA after we visit my family, we're going to Hawaii," Daniel explained.
"What about our clothes, we won't have enough."
"We can wash them at my place before we leave," Daniel told me.
"Ok," I said then put my head on his shoulder. We all started a conversation and I noticed Daniel get tensed up once and a while. "Babe come here," I said taking his hand and leading him to my bedroom. I made him sit on my bed and I sat beside him. "What's wrong?" I asked gently.
"Nothing," he replied with his head down. I pulled his chin up with my finger.
"Don't you dare lie to me," I said quietly.
"Ok, I just miss my family, a lot, I haven't seen them in almost a year, I'm just anxious to get home," he explained with tears in his eyes.
"Oh Dani, you'll see them soon," I told him.
"I know," he said. I brought my lips to his and I put my arms around his neck while he put his around my waist. Our lips moved in sync and we both smiled into the kiss. We pulled away with huge smiles on our faces.
"I love you," I said quietly.
"I love you too," he replied.
"Ready to go back down?"
"Yeah."
"Ok let's go," I said then grabbed his hand. I lead him downstairs and we sat on the couch again and continued the conversation. My mom got up to start making Christmas lunch and everyone else continued the conversation.
"Zach! Come here please," my mom called from the kitchen.
"Coming!" I replied. I walked to the kitchen then my mom looked up at me.
"I forgot to get milk, could you go to the store and get some please?"
"Yeah sure," I said. I went back to the living room and went over to Daniel. "I'm going to the store, wanna come with me?" I asked.
"Sure," he replied. We got up and put on our shoes and coats then got into the car. I started to drive to the store.
As we were turning left someone came and ran into the right side of the car, everything went black.
I woke up in the car, the car was right side up so I could clearly see everything. People were crowding around the car as they waited for the police to come. I looked over and saw Daniel passed out, he had blood all over him, especially near his head.
"Dani!" I shouted then held onto his arm. "Dani, can you hear me?" I asked. No response. "Dani, please." I completely broke down in tears. "Dani."
I heard sirens then I heard voices.
"Is there anyone in this car who can hear me?" I heard a loud man's voice say.
"I can," I replied weakly.
"Ok, who's in the car with you?"
"Daniel, my boyfriend," I answered.
"What's your name?"
"Zach."
"Ok Zach, we're going to get you and Daniel out of there, hang tight," he explained.
"Ok," I replied, panic filling my voice. My car door opened and about 3 people lifted me onto a stretcher, they put me into an ambulance then started driving off. "What about Dani? We can't leave him? I need to see him!" I shouted panicking.
"It's ok, he's going to the hospital too, you'll see him in a few hours, but you need to calm down," the paramedic said calmly with a smile on her face.
"Ok, ok," I said taking a few deep breaths.
When we got to the hospital they started rushing me somewhere, I'm not sure where, but as we were going I heard a familiar voice call out my name. "Dani?!" I shouted.
"Zach," I heard Daniel say weakly. I couldn't talk anymore because I couldn't hear him but a wave of relief came over me knowing that he's ok.
*a few hours later*
I heard voices come into my room, I looked up and saw my family walking in.
"ZACHY!" Reece shouted then ran into my arms.
"Be gentle Reece," my mom instructed.
"Right, Sorry," Reece said then pulled away from me a little bit.
"It's ok Reece," I told her with a smile.
"Are you hurt?" Reece asked.
"A little bit but I'll be all better soon," I told her.
"Ok," she said then hugged me. I lifted her onto my hospital bed and I let her lay down with me, I kissed her head then my parents and Ryan looked at me.
"Can you guys go check on Daniel for me?" I asked quietly.
"Of course," my mom replied. My mom and dad left but Ryan and Reece stayed with me.
"Will you be ok Zach?" Ryan asked.
"I'll be fine little bro," I told him. We did our secret handshake then he smiled at me.
"Don't tell Dani but his family will be here late tonight," Ryan said.
"Ok, my lips are sealed," I said with a smile. We continued talking until my parents came into the room with tears in their eyes. "What? What happened? Is Dani ok?" I asked panicking.
"Zach, Daniel's in a coma, they don't know when he'll wake up, or even if he'll wake up," my mom said.
"W-What?" I asked, my voice cracking. My vision went blurry from tears and I started sobbing. My mom sat on the bed and hugged me. "No, you're kidding, he has to be ok. I talked to him when we first got to the hospital, you're just joking," I said, trying to convince myself that Daniel was ok.
"I'm sorry, but we're not," my mom said quietly.
"No," I said then started sobbing again. "This can't be happening."
I was crying for about 5 minutes then I calmed down, I cuddled into the blanket that I had and kept my face away from everyone else's view.
After about half an hour a doctor came into my room.
"Would you like to see Daniel? We can put you in a wheelchair," he said.
"Yeah, I want to see him," I replied.
"Ok, I'll just go get a wheelchair," he said then walked off.
The doctor came back a few minutes later with a wheelchair. My mom and him helped me into it then my mom wheeled me to Daniel's room, when we got to his room everyone left so it was just Daniel and I.
"Please be ok Dani, you're the best thing that's ever happened to me. I need you, I need you Dani," I sobbed into his bed. I held onto his hand tightly like my life depended on it. "I need you Dani."
After about 2 hours in his room the machines that he's hooked up to went crazy, doctors came rushing in and as one was wheeling me out I heard the dreaded noise, his heart flatlined.
I started sobbing as I got back into my hospital bed. "Dani's gone, gone," I sobbed into my mom's shoulder.
"Shh, I know, I know," she replied rubbing my back.
"I won't ever see him again," I sobbed. I knew now that I'd never be able to hear his cute laugh, or see his beautiful smile, or hold him in my arms ever again. Everything in our past has been thrown away like it was garbage, the memories will forever be in my mind but Dani's gone and there's nothing that I can do about it.
I woke up and saw that I was in a hospital bed, I saw Daniel to my left, he looked over at me and smiled widely.
"You're here," he said hugging me tightly.
"What do you mean? Why are you alive?" I asked confused.
"Zach, you were in a coma for 4 months, we were in a car crash," he said.
"It was just a dream," I mumbled to myself. I held onto Dani tighter and cried happy tears.
"What happened in your dream baby?" Daniel asked.
"We were in a car crash and you died," I explained.
"That's what happened but with you, except for you didn't die," he explained.
"When did the accident happen?" I asked.
"Christmas eve," he answered. I pulled away from the hug and kissed Daniel like never before, I missed him so much.
When we pulled away I pulled him into a hug again.
"I was so worried about you," he said while crying into my shoulder.
"I'm here Dani, I'm here."
