'Oh please, like I'd trust any of you bozos to look out for Jim'
————꧁꧂————
"This is horrible!" I stress as I hide in the stables with Douxie and Claire.
Arthur has ordered for all the guards to go into the woods for a hunt. A hunt for trolls. He is determined to kill every last troll, including Jim.
"I know, I know." Douxie tries to say in a relaxing tone, but he honestly sounds just as stressed as I am.
"They're hunting all the trolls, Douxie, including Jim!" Claire stresses, a look of grief plastered on her face.
"If they catch him, he'll be killed! Beheaded! Burnt at the stake!" I whisper shout, knowing that guards are just out in the courtyard, suiting up for the hunt.
"I know, and he's not the only one. Because of us, Arthur's now fated to eat the big one too!" Douxie explains, just as Steve joins us in the stables.
"Eat the what? Oh, no. Was I supposed to bring food?" Steve asks confused, standing infront of us in his slightly dirty armour.
"It's British slang, Steve...I think." I mutter to myself.
I can never tell if Douxies weird words are just him, or his inner British boy.
"It means he'll be eating a death sandwich, Steve." Douxie explains in frustration.
"Ew, who would eat that? Gross." Steve gags causing Douxie to roll his eyes.
Me too, Douxie. Me too.
"Look." Douxie says, switching something on his magic bracelet to make a hologram appear of the future timeline—which is currently Arthur's dead body. "If Arthur dies, we lose the Battle of Killahead...and the war."
"Which will probably mess up time so much, you'll never be able to return home." Archie explains just as Douxie swipes through the future, causing an image of Toby to appear.
I watch with a fearful face as Toby slowly turns to dust in the hologram.
"Toby." I whisper sadly, the thought of the boy not even existing hurting me more than I thought it would.
"W-whats happening to him?" Claire asks frantically.
"The future-our future is vanishing." Douxie explains in rush as he swipes again on the hologram.
This future looks good. It's an image of King Arthur and Morgana, arms linked as they wave happily towards their subjects. A good timeline.
"What's that?" Claire asks confused.
"It's a new timeline." Douxie explains quickly, swiping again to an image of Jim and Arthur shaking hands. "One where Arthur and Jim live."
He swiped again to show an image of a smiling Morgana, waving happily.
"And Morgana's the hero?" Claire questions confused. "I thought she was destined to become Mistress Doom."
"Our future can change, I guess Morgana's can too." I say with a small smile.
"It looks like there's a possibility, if we get Arthur and Morgana to reconcile, then somehow, nobody dies." Douxie explains with a smile.
"It can't be that easy." I say with a shake of my head.
"I wouldn't call it easy." Archie grumbles.
"Steve! We are all thirsty!" Galahad's voice calls out to the boy.
"Alright, I'll keep an eye on Morgana. Douxie, you work on Arthur. Y/n, see if you can sneak in as one of the guards and Steve...make sure they don't kill Jim, Y/n will never forgive you." Claire explains causing Steve to glance over to me—only to find me giving him a deadly stare.
"G-got it!" Steve stumbles out with an awkward laugh.
We all quickly split up and I immediately make my way towards a horse. I look both ways, hoping no one is paying attention to me before I go to hop on. As soon as my legs leave the ground, I feel hands grab onto my waist and lift me back down to the floor.
I immediately yell out, thrashing in the persons arms before looking behind me to find Sir Lancelot.
"Hands to yourself, dude" I snarl, only to gain a confused face from the man.
"Dude? Well that's improper language for a lady." Sir Lancelot laughs with a jolly smile. "Now, where do you think your going?"
"Uhhh...to join the hunt. I hate trolls, they're so...smelly." I stumble out before quickly clearing my throat and restarting. "I want to help."
"You? Help?" Sir Lancelot asks before he lets out a loud jolly laugh, some guards behind him joining in causing me to glower at them. "Sweetie, this is a man's job. Now go clean something, maid."
"Excuse me—!" I start to yell but they just continue to laugh before walking past me, one even going as far as to ruffle my hair. "You complete morons! I'll show you!"
I'm left shaking in anger as they leave. Who do they think they are? Just because they have some shiny armour, and these fancy swords, does not mean I can't kick their ass.
Stupid men. Stupid old men. Stupid knights. Big egos and good hair, that's all they have going for them.
I need to go with them. But how can I? They wouldn't let a girl go. Morgana's allowed because she's the sister of the King and Claire can go because she's her handmaiden. I'm just a bloody maid!
My anger quickly subsided as I spotted a rather short Knight about to jump on his horse. I quickly walk over to him, grabbing his arm before he can jump on and levelling my hand from my head to his, comparing our height.
"Uhh, can I help you—?!" The guy yells out as I grab onto his helmet, letting my F/c magic surround his head.
"Sleep." I mutter, and just like that he's on the ground.
A rather impressive trick I've learnt from Merlin. I'm not very good at it yet and can only do it when I'm holding onto the persons head and can have complete concentration, but I'm learning.
I grab his leg, looking around to make sure no one saw before dragging his body into one of the stables.
I quickly strip him of his armour, and thank god he's wearing clothes underneath (that would've been awkward). I make my way out of the stables, making myself look as casual as possible—acting like I didn't steal some random knights armour and horse.
"Sir, Fadass, are you ready?" Sir Lancelot asks as he rides his horse past.
"Fadass? Really?" I mutter to myself before quickly looking to Sir Lancelot. "Yes, Sir."
"Good. Now quick, we are leaving for the hunt!" Sir Lancelot tells me before he rides forward with the rest of the knights.
I quickly jump on my (well not my) horse and join the rest of the Knights, making sure to keep my helmet on over my face and to keep my hair tucked away.
"Death to all trolls!" King Arthur chants as the gates rise for all the horses and knights.
"Death to all trolls!" All the Knights and guards chant before charging forward, me included.
I try my best to keep up with everyone, despite the fact that I've never ridden a horse before. All I needed to do was keep my balance, the horse did most of the work.
I stay close to Sir Lancelot, knowing that I should probably keep an eye on him, despite Steve saying he has it covered.
When does he ever have something covered?
Despite the situation though, I manage to get a good look at my surroundings, and that's when I realise we're currently riding over Killahead bridge.
The Killahead bridge.
Despite my excitement about my surroundings, I stay focused, knowing that Jim and the rest of the trolls are somewhere close. They can only run so far on legs.
And I was right, although I wish I was wrong for once.
For some odd reason, Jim stumbled forward from behind a tree—although he looked very jumbled and seemed to not have planned this sudden appearance.
"Aah! Oh, he-hello!" Jim stumbles out with a small wave towards King Arthur and the Knights.
Jim, you idiot.
King Arthur growled in anger before pointing his sword in Jim's direction.
"Get them!" King Arthur screams, and immediately charged forward on his horse, me and the rest of the Knights following his lead.
I hold on to my horses reigns with a tight grip, my body shaking back and forth from the fast pace my steed is running at.
I manage to keep in tow with Arthur, although I keep a small distance knowing that he's probably one of those egotistical men who need to be at the front of everything.
I even manage to catch sight of Steve before I overtake him completely—due to the fact that he's ride is a bloody cow with a cart attached to the back.
And this is why I need to do everything myself.
My thoughts are cut off by the sudden stop of King Arthur, and I immediately pull the reigns so my horse comes to a slow stop.
I'm getting the hang of this horse riding stuff.
"They've entered the wild woods. Abandon the horses! We enter on foot!" King Arthur commands as he jumps off his horse.
And just when I said I was getting the hang of this horse stuff.
I obey his command and quickly jump off my horse, giving him a quick pat to the side in thanks before moving to follow Arthur, but I pause in my steps when I see Douxie and Claire behind me whispering.
I quickly walk over to them, clearing my throat to gain their attention.
Both their eyes widen when they see me, and they both awkwardly smile.
"Anything we can help you with, Sir Fadass?" Douxie asks in a formal tone.
"What? Oh, right." I mutter before flipping the face of my helmet up and revealing my face, gaining small gasps from the two of them. "Yeah, hi."
"I thought you didn't manage to sneak in and were back at Camelot." Douxie says in shock, causing me to shrug my shoulders.
"Oh please, like I'd trust any of you bozos to look out for Jim." I joke, gaining smiles from the two. "Now, Steve apparently is with Sir Lancelot, and I would help but I don't think that man is much of our concern right now. Douxie, you and I will watch the King."
Douxie nods in agreement.
"I'll cover Morgana." Claire says.
"And let's just focus on getting these royal siblings to hug and make up." Archie speaks up from Douxies shoulder.
"And not die." Claire adds.
"Uh, yes, that too." Archie nods.
I nod before flipping my helmet flap back down.
We all quickly split up after that, Claire going towards Morgana while Douxie and I make our way to King Arthur.
"Enjoying the hunt, my King?" I ask in a deep voice, attempting to appear manly.
"Sir Fadass, if this is about you wanting to take family leave, the answer is still no." King Arthur says with a sigh, causing Douxie and I to share a confused look.
Holy shit I have a family.
"I think it was just a friendly question." Douxie speaks up with a nervous smile.
"You again, boy?" King Arthur sighs before roughly glaring at him. "No. I'll feel better after dealing with my sister."
"Wouldn't you say life's too short to hold grudges?" Douxie asks.
"Especially with family." I add before closing my mouth shut when King Arthur rounds up on us with a heavy glare on his face.
"Y-yes, family is so important, isn't it?" Douxie quickly goes on with my words. "Your lucky that you've got one. Closest I ever got was him."
Douxie points towards Archie—who was too busy choking up a hairball on the ground.
This information caused me to stare at Douxie with a frown. I never knew that he didn't have any family, I guess I never really thought to ask about it. It makes me feel quite horrible knowing that I've been complaining about how much I miss my family, when he doesn't even have one.
King Arthur didn't share my sympathy and instead started to walk off once again—but Douxie and I follow close behind.
"Please, Sire." I call as I follow close behind. "Morgana didn't mean to betray your trust, she was only looking out for those poor creatures."
"Is all this really worth hurting her?" Douxie asks.
"I will speak of this no more!" King Arthur growls before stalking off.
"Well that went well." I grumble with my arms crossed.
