'Since when do you think I'm right?'

"I'm sorry, did I mishear you? You want Gunmar to release Morgana? The crazy witch lady Morgana?!" I exclaim while waving my arms around.
All this time I thought he was actually trying to help us—but of course like every person, he has an ulterior motive.
"This is complete lunacy!" Blinky yells as he starts pacing around in the garage.
"Merlin, I thought you were here to save the world, not destroy it!" Toby snaps annoyed, still fiddling around with the helmet on his head.
"I'm not destroying the world...I'm risking it!" Merlin tells us as I let out an obnoxious scoff.
"Wow, that makes us feel so much better!" I say sarcastically.
I never thought I'd be giving the Merlin sass, but here we are.
"My dear, the world harbours greater dangers, not just the ones in your little town" Merlin attempts to explain.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! What dangers?" Claire asks with a worried expression on her face.
"You could not hope to understand" Merlin says with his arms crossed, almost like he's talking to a five year old.
I sigh and turn around to Jim to see what he thinks (as the boy has been very quiet), only to find a spaced out look on his face. The boy seems to be staring at a poster on the wall, completely zoned out.
He must be in shock.
"Jim?" I mumble worriedly as I wave a hand infront of his face.
Nothing.
"Jim!" I say loudly, softly tapping his face to get his attention, and it works.
The boy gasps almost likes he just woke up, looking around to everyone a bit confused.
"Yo, you wanna weigh in anything here?" Toby asks the boy, oblivious to how distracted Jim is. "Merlin just dropped the bomb we have to let Morgana loose"
"I think he knows Toby, he was in the room with us" I say with a roll of my eyes.
"Wait...he destroyed my vespa" Jim mumbles in a daze, and I could almost scoff at the boy.
Of course. The world is ending but all Jim cares about is his destroyed Vespa.
"He what? You see? You must listen to the voice of reason...mine!" Blinky exclaims to the boy, side eyeing Merlin with distaste.
"Gunmar has the staff of Avalon. Soon he will find a way to free her" Merlin explains to us. "This is when we will strike. Together, we'll slay Morgana before the Eternal Night starts"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Toby interrupts once again. "I'm sorry, you want Jim to go up against Gunmar and Angor Rot and Morgana?"
"Now is the time to strike! She's been imprisoned for centuries, and she will be at her weakest" Merlin explains.
"Or she'll be at her strongest. All that time imprisoned, she could be harbouring up a lot of unstable magic" I say to the man, a knowing look on my face.
All that time not using my magic and suddenly getting it back felt exhilarating. It felt like I was a battery and got electrocuted, now completely charged and ready to go.
I'm worried that the same will happen to Morgana.
"I'm willing to bet on those odds" Merlin says gravely.
"Wait, if Jim defeats Morgana, you get your magic back" Claire accuses Merlin.
"That would be a pleasant bonus, yes" Merlin nods with a smirk.
"Oh, you only want your magic back" Blinky says with a wide smile before it turns into a snarl. "Aaarrrggghh my friend, put your fist though the old man's face!"
"Hmm. Old man makes sense. Stop witch forever" Aaarrrgghh grunts.
"I'm with Blinky. Sounds like Merlin just wants his magic back" Toby huffs with his arms crossed.
"But what if Merlin's right? He's been right about everything else" Claire suddenly second guesses as I nod.
"Plus, he's the only one who's strong enough to help us. We can't do this without him guys" I sigh with a conflicted expression on my face.
"Thank you" Merlin nods at the two of us, happy that at least we seem to be half with him.
"Y/n, Claire....Gunmar and Morgana want to destroy the world!" Toby exclaims before rounding on Merlin. "We live in this world!
"Yet, this world is protected by the Trollhunter. The choice is his to make" Merlin says before we all turn to the still dumbfolded Jim. "What say he?"
"Uh..." Jim gapes like a fish, his eyes quickly moving to mine before he sighs and rubs the back of his neck. "I need to think"
"Then we wait for Jim to decide" I say with my arms crossed, narrowing my eyes at everyone in the room. "And we do whatever Jim chooses, right?"
A chorus of yes's sounded through the room as I happily nod my head.
"If we are to fight, we will need an army" Blinky decides. "Aaarrrgghh and I will see what we can do. As to whom we are fighting, I'll leave that to Master Jim"
My eyes lock with Jim's and I can see the obvious worry and conflict in his eyes, and I immediately know that this decision may be a bit too much for Jim to handle. I only hope he makes the right one.

"I'm sorry honey, I haven't seen her. Please let me know when you find her?" My mum says from the other end of the phone.
"I will, and call me if anything changes, alright?" I ask as I nervously bite my lip.
"Of course, and let me know when you'll be home, and make sure to message me that your safe, and-" My mum starts to ramble so I quickly cut her off.
"I will mum, don't worry...bye" I say before quickly hanging up the phone a small smile on my face.
I haven't been able to properly talk to to my mum since she said she wanted to try harder as a parent. Everything has just been so chaotic and I haven't even had time to go back to my own house. I always thought that I'd be a teenager not coming back to the house cause I'd be at clubs and parties, but instead I'm not coming home cause I'm fighting trolls and trying to save the world.
Fuck you life.
I shake off my thoughts and look to Claire, Toby and Jim with a small frown.
Barbara has been missing since yesterday, and this was enough for Jim to be completely losing his mind. I also happened to notice that Strickler was also missing, but decided not too mention it as the man is already a sore spot for Jim.
"Nothing" I mumble to Jim with a sympathetic look on my face.
"My mum hasn't seen her either" Claire sighs with a shake of her head.
"And she's not at the hospital" Toby tells the boy.
"Asking for mummies permission?" Merlin's voice asks as we all look into the kitchen to find the man scavenging through Jim's fridge.
"Your asking us to wage a war! It's only fair to have everyone weigh in" Jim snaps at the man making me softly lay a hand on Jim's arm, the boy immediately relaxing.
"I'm feeling a bit peckish" Merlin says, completely ignoring what Jim said. "Where do you keep your fresh haggis?"
"Ew" I mumble as I stare at the old man.
"What sort of cannibal wizard hungers for boiled meat in a sheep's stomach? Ugh! I'll see if anyone at the school has seen her" Toby tells us as he starts to dial numbers on his phone, walking out of the room for some privacy.
"I should probably call Strickler, he's been missing as well" I tell Jim as the boy nods before doing a double take.
"Why do you have Stricklers number?" Jim asks with his face scrunched up in confusion.
I open my mouth like a fish, struggling to answer, but luckily the door slams open.
We all turn swiftly to find Nomura in her human form tumbling into the house and into Toby, the two of them crashing to the ground.
"Geez lady! Don't you knock!" Toby yells from the floor.
"Nomura" Jim mumbles, placing his amulet on the side table as we all quickly rush over.
"Oh Merlin, are you alright?" I ask as I quickly grab the changelings arm, helping her up off of Toby.
The woman is bruised and bleeding all over the floor. She looks like she got out of a fight, and I can't help but wonder what the other guys look like.
"Blood. There's blood on the rug" Toby groans in disgust, making me softly kick him in the leg to shut up.
"What happened?" Jim asks concerned.
"Usurna tried to capture me at the museum" Nomura grunts in pain, giving me a small smile of thanks as I hand her a tissue to wipe the blood on her face.
"Why?" I ask confused, not understanding why they'd want Nomura so bad.
"Gunnar needs a changeling to activate the staff of Avalon" Nomura manages to say, grunting in pain as she holds a tissue to a particularly nasty cut on her cheek.
"So Gunmars found a way past my safeguard" Merlin mumbles worriedly. "He needs human hands who can speak in a troll language"
"So if they failed to get Nomura, they'll be looking for someone else like her..." I say quietly, a worried look on my face as my eyes meet Jim's.
"Strickler" Jim states, and a thought suddenly came to my head.
"Jim...you don't think Barbara is with him? They've both been missing since yesterday...and I think this might be too much of a coincidence..." I say with a small grimace, not wanting to worry the boy but knowing I should tell him.
Jim's face falls completely at that, and I already feel horrible for putting that thought in his head.
"We don't know for sure that she was with him" Toby quickly says, clearly seeing the crestfallen face on the boy.
"Oh god! Split up and search everywhere! Find my mother!" Jim says quickly.
I nod and quickly grab my shoes, shoving them on as Claire puts her bag over her shoulder.
"We'll find her Jim" I say to the boy as Claire quickly opens the door of the house, holding it open for us.
"What if your right, though?" Jim mumbles but I just shake my head.
"Since when do you think I'm right?" I ask with a small playful smile. "Let's me honest Jim, I'm wrong at least eighty percent of the time, I'm sure this time won't be any different"
"For once, I hope so" Jim sighs.
I give him a small smile before leaning up and quickly pecking him on the cheek.
"Relax Trollhunter, Claire and I are master detectives, we'll find her" I reassure the boy, getting a fond smile from Jim.
"Uhh, your shoulder, it looks...it is falling out?" Toby whimpers as we all look to Nomura.
Her shoulder is definitely dislocated.
Nomura looks down to her shoulder before grabbing it tightly and grunting in pain as she snaps it back.
We all look away with grimaces and Toby faints to the ground.
"There's no stopping Gunmar now. I'm gonna get ready to fight" Nomura spits as she cracks her fists in a very intimidating way.
"Right...we'll call if we find anything" Claire promises Jim as I help Toby up off the floor, practically dragging the shaken boy towards the door.
I give Jim one last wave before the door is slammed behind us.
Off to find Barbara, but it won't hurt to make one quick stop at my house. I haven't been there for a good week.

"Mum! You here?" I yell into the house, Claire close behind.
Toby went off to grab his warhammer, so I thought this would be a perfect time to go stock up on supplies and to see my Mum
"Y/n?" My Mum asks before she appears in front of us, a large smile on her face. "Oh, your home!"
I splutter as she brings me into a tight hug, making me awkwardly hug her back.
"Uh, yeah. Don't get too comfortable, it's only for a few minutes. Off to save the world and stuff" I joke as she pulls away from the hug.
"Oh, right, of course. Barbara said she met Merlin?" My Mum asks almost giddily, and my eyes quickly widen.
"Is Barbara here?" Claire asks quickly, a hopeful look on her face.
"No, we were chatting on the phone yesterday. Haven't talked since" She shrugs before going back to the Merlin topic. "So, Merlin? Is he hot?"
"Ew, what? No! He's old" I explain to her with a grimace.
"I've always had a thing for older men" My mum shrugs making me chuckle and playfully shove her shoulder.
"Gross mum" I mumble, although a large smile is present on my face.
I've missed joking around with her, it almost makes everything feel normal again. Although I know it isn't, and I know I'll have to cut this visit short.
"Umm, we need to leave soon, I just thought I'd come get some supplies, and you know...come see you, show you that I am in fact, alive" I chuckle awkwardly.
"Oh right, of course. Yeah, there's some food in the fridge and I recently did your washing if you need some spare clothes" My mum says with a small smile and her hands behind her back.
"Great...that's great. Thanks" I mumble before quickly running up the stairs of my house to get my clothes, leaving Claire to grab some food.
I make it into my room and find my folded clothes sitting at the end of my bed. I smile and quickly shove them in my bag (completely unfolding them) before running back downstairs.
I make it into the kitchen to find Claire shoving some food in her own bag while chatting with my Mum. I go to talk but pause as I listen to their conversation.
"-I just feel like I've completely messed up my relationship with her. We used to be so close, and now..." I hear my Mum sigh at the end.
"I was close with my Mum too, but once I hit my teenage years, I feel like all we do is argue. I still love her, but it's normal for teenage daughters and Mums to fight" Claire reassures as she zips up her bag.
"Are you sure? I just don't know what's normal or not...although, I know my daughter fighting trolls and having powers isn't classified as normal" She chuckles, Claire joining in.
I decide to make myself known and walk into the kitchen, a smile on my face.
"Hey, got the clothes. You ready to go?" I ask Claire, the girl nodding her head happily as we make our way towards the front door, my Mum close behind.
"Uhh. Be careful please, and text and call" My Mum says as I nod my head.
We both stand infront of each other awkwardly, not knowing what to do now.
"Hug" Claire coughs into her fist, smiling awkwardly at us when we both look to her.
"Bye Mum" I say before bringing her into a tight hug.
"Bye..." My Mum sighs, almost like she doesn't want me to leave.
I am thankful with how understanding she's been with letting me leave the house for days on end. I'm also quite surprised with how chill she's been with all of this.
We slowly break apart and she presses a loving kiss to my forehead.
"Be careful" She mumbles and I nod before walking towards the door, opening it as Claire quickly walks out.
"Always am" I say before shutting it behind me.
Well, now that that's done, time to find Barbara.
