Loki Laufeyson

You were never to type to delve into the magic that Loki was so well-known for, never having an interest in it and thus never bothering to learn. You enjoyed the company of the God though so you went to his study where he would often practice new spells or just read. It was always very pleasant, it was very rare for anything to happen and the worse thing that had was merely a few burnt books. Nothing would prepare you for what today had in store for you.

Smiling while you read you listened to Loki's mutterings, he whispered words that made no sense to you and made you return your full attention to the book you had in hand. It was a lovely little book full of illustrations and small stories that Frigga had pointed out to you one evening as she found you asleep in the study again. She always said that it was a favorite to read to her sons when they were small, saying that they always smiled and always slept peacefully at night when she read to them.

Your attention was fully in the book and so you only had a moment to glance up upon hearing Loki growl out some colourful words before being engulfed in a bright light. You were used to the occasional spell backfiring at him but not at you and so this was a new kind of pain, one you did not enjoy, Being blinded, silenced, and deafened for a few moments made you really scared, and you don't scare easily!

Looking around and then down at yourself once you regained your senses made you really wonder what it was Loki did all day with these blasted spells. You glanced up towards the green eyed man that now stand above you,

"Well, this was," he paused as he lifted you into his arms "unexpected. I will question the validity of that spell in a few but as of right now I think a trip to my mother is in order." He said holding you awkwardly in his arms.

You were beginning to cry in his arms thinking you were saying actual words but only getting a response of "hush, child, I will return you to an adult soon" he held you away from him each time you cried only making you cry more. His mother was reading, sitting quietly in her chambers as a few birds fluttered in and out at will. You had always admired her, she was an incredibly strong woman but she needed to be of course.

She managed a glance up as Loki entered the room with you at arms length, "oh, son you mustn't hold a child like that you will only succeed in hurting them!" she barked taking you gently from him making you coo in delight.

"What on earth has happened to make you bring me her in this state?" She asked glancing a look down at you a smile gracing her soft lips.

"A spell, an accident, what I can only assume are wrong words written in the form of a spell" he muttered looking down at you calmly laying in his mothers arms. "I see and you need me to reverse said spell?" he nodded "hold her like I am and show me the spell you cast" gently taking you from his mothers arms and holding you snug against his body you couldn't help but curl close to it. Frigga, given any other circumstances, would be spewing adornments at the sight before her. She couldn't today of course but that's besides the point as she read the same words that Loki had muttered and misfired.

She didn't speak them but her eyes took in each word, brows furrowing even more so with each sentence. She looked up and noticed that Loki was not paying her any mind but was focused on you, playing with your small hand.

"According to the words written, it should wear off by morning light but as far as counter spells go I do not see one written in this book. Perhaps in another but with smile you're wearing, I think you might enjoy caring for her as a child even if she is your dearest." She chuckled placing the book down on the table next to her.

"I-I do not know what you are talking about!" he insisted but she gave him a knowing look and he sighed, defeated. He waved his mother off before leaving her chambers and heading to yours. He received quite a few stares, none more interesting than that of his brother the blond had greeted him with his normal booming voice which made you cringe.

"Good day, brother!" His brother's harsh glare silenced Thor "what is the problem?" he asked, the ever lovable oblivious man. "Do you not see the child that rests in my arms, brother" he snarled, very angry that Thor had made you cringe with such pain etched on your slightly chubby features.

Thor gave an apologetic smile and said softly "I do apologize for being loud, little one, but why do you have a child in your arms brother?" he glanced up, locking eyes with Loki and all explanation was exchanged in that look.

"If you will excuse me I must greet mother!" he did it again and Loki could only hold you close cooing soft words as he made his way to his final destination for the night. Laying you gently on the bed he searched for you some clean clothes, you were appalled that he so carelessly went through your things like this. You were never going in that study with him again!

"Do excuse me for doing this, love, I have to change you and you are pretty helpless in that form." You couldn't really protest with anything he was saying for more than one reason so you just went with it, making a note to never bring this up again.

"There you are, now would you like it if we rested outside while I read you this?" He held up the book you had been reading before his rude interruption. You gave him a toothless grin and he took that as a yes, lifting you in his arms gently he carried you to the spot on the window seal. He had you rested against his chest in a cage made by his arms between the book and his chest, you were extremely comfortable where you were placed.

"Now, shall we begin?" He started reading you the stories, his voice slowly making your eyelids droop and causing you to float into dreams. He felt you shift in his arms realizing he had spent his day reading to you. . .as a baby, he never thought he'd be brought to a moment like this but a part deep inside of his heart really enjoyed the time. It was quiet and peaceful, innocent in a way he had never expected.

"Sleep well, I will be right here when you wake." He was true to his word because when morning came and the light of the sun woke you up he was sitting on the window seal reading. You blushed, as red as the flowers that rested in your favorite garden, thinking about yesterday. You cleared your throat and whispered looking away,

"I will never accompany you to that particular study anymore. . .I can't imagine it will end well for me if I do." You heard him chuckle placing the book down and walking over to you.

"Nonsense, you enjoy the time together" he muttered with his lips merely millimeters away from your own as he had brought you to your feet by now.

"Who says that? I do not recall those words leaving my mouth" you whispered not moving closer or giving him a kiss, yet.

"I did, and I enjoy them just as you do" he smirked taking the chance to kiss you now before whispering "you do look awfully. . .cute, as an infant you know?" the statement left you blushing and stammering through the whole day.
