the week had exhausted you.
all the school works your teachers assigned and the excessive homework that had to be turned in overwhelmed you to the point where you would go home and cry. your dark eye-bags felt like they were down to your chin and you found it extremely hard to pay attention to the lectures your teachers were teaching.
last night was the worst. you had four tests today and you spent all night yesterday, studying. because of that, you barely got any sleep and now, you looked like you were going to collapse any second. you knew there were numerous articles stating that you should always get at least eight hours of sleep before a test, but that's absolute bullshit.
if you could get eight hours of sleep, you would. who wouldn't? but the amount of information that had to be memorized was endless and you had to lose your sleep for it.
your studying must've helped because the tests you took were somewhat easy and simple. you found yourself effortlessly and easily answering the problems that you had studied last night. but by the end of the day, your eyes felt like they could close any moment. it felt like you were dying by the end of the school day, and you simply could not wait until school could just end.
when the bell rang, signaling that school had just ended, you jumped out of your seat and ran out of the classroom with your school bag. you simply couldn't wait to get yourself out of this hell-hole.
your feet stopped when an arcade caught your attention.
you loved the arcade, and you still do. but due to the immoderate work from school, you couldn't find the time to go there anymore. your feet walked inside the arcade and loud music started playing as soon as you entered. even though you barely got any sleep last night, your eyes were wide open at the thought of playing your favorite games.
your smile brightened up as your favorite shooting game from your childhood caught your attention. you hurriedly walked towards it with a wide grin, but by the time you stood in front of it, you realized it had to be played by two people. you didn't want to ask random people in the arcade to play a shooting game with you, so you decided to just go home and take a nap.
"can i play that with you?" a random individual asked as you were about to leave. his black hair was ruffled upwards and a strand of blonde fell over his forehead. "i really wanted to play that. but it seems like it has to be played by two people, and you really looked like you wanted to play too! so, you know? i mean, you don't have to if you don't want to."
he was about the same height as you and his cheeks were flushed with shades of pink. he seemed to be fidgeting around as he spoke and could barely look at you in the eye.
"of course, let's play!" you exclaimed. "i really needed someone to play with."
he was surprised by your answer. he totally thought you would flat-out reject the idea and leave him alone. his heart started beating super fast when he looked up and saw how bright your smile was.
"i-i'm nishinoya yuu!" he exclaimed with eagerness. every girl he talked to would reject him, but you were the first one to talk to him and welcome him. so he wanted to get to know you better and, hopefully, become friends with you.
"i'm (y/n)!"
your guys' teamwork was impressive and consummate. you guys were shooting all of the zombies that came your way and both of you were on a killing spree.
to his surprise, you were actually a pretty decent player.
actually, scratch that.
you were an impressive and awe-striking player. every time a zombie would almost get nishinoya, you would shoot it for him. your concentration skills were splendid and he was astounded by you. both of you high-fived each other when the word 'winner' showed up on the screen.
"that was a good game," you stated as you settled the controller down.
"(y/n)-chan, i challenge you to another game!" he yelled. he had his hands on his hips as he smiled confidently.
"um, sure," you replied. nishinoya seemed like a mirthful person to be around with, and you enjoyed his presence, even though you just met him 10 minutes ago.
his dimples showed as his smile curved up more. he grabbed your hand and took you to a game called, Pac-man. he took the seat next to you when you looked at him curiously.
"let's play a game. whoever wins, gets to make the loser do anything."
nishinoya was confident in this. he had played the game, pac-man, so many times, it became second nature to him. there was no way he was going to lose.
he was wrong.
nishinoya groaned in agony as the word loser appeared on his screen. he couldn't believe that there was someone above him in the game, pac-man. you chuckled at him as his soul left his body.
"one more time!" he yelled.
this kept repeating for the nth time. he would challenge you on a game and he would lose every time. you found it adorable how he didn't want to accept defeat.
"no, i can't accept this," he muttered under his breath as he kneeled down on the ground. you laughed at how hilarious this boy was. noshinoya didn't understand why you were laughing, but he was pleased to see you in a frabjous mood.
"you're so funny, nishinoya," you said as you clutched your abdomen from the excessive laughter that came out of your mouth. "you said the winner could make the loser do anything, right?"
"yeah," he replied. he was still on the ground, rethinking his life decisions.
"then, can i have your phone number?" you asked with a grin.
nishinoya automatically stood up at your question and looked at you with sparkles in his eyes. he had never experienced anyone asking for his number so he was euphoric and delirious.
"y-y-yes, of course!" he stammered as he got his phone out.
"thanks," you expressed after exchanging numbers. "i enjoyed playing with you. let's keep in touch."
"o-of course! i would l-love to."
that was the beginning of a permanent friendship.
