I woke to shuffling in our room, followed by a soft mumble.

I looked up to see Kevin, Now dressed, standing in front of the mirror.

"...Mr. Sherwood, it's nice to meet you.. how are your kid- no, don't talk about his kids, Kevin, you don't know him, it's weird" he muttered quietly

"..Kevvy, what are you doing?" I mumbled, barely awake

"..Practicing."

"You don't need to practice saying hello"

"Well if I didn't practice, I would've mentioned the kids of a man I've never met before"

"True.. you look real handsome.."

"Thank you.. you were right about the shoes, the brown was too off. Didn't match."

"Sure. When do you have to leave?"

"Like, two minutes.. gosh, I'm so nervous" He huffed, throwing himself down on the edge of the bed

"Babe, you're gonna do great, don't worry.."

"I just.. I really want this promotion. It'll be so good for me. A better job, better pay, better hours. Better everything.. and what if I mess it up!? Then what?"

"Kevin, the worst that will happen is that you keep your current position. Which you love! So.. worst case scenario, you keep your job.."

"That's true.. I guess you're right."

"I am. Come on, you've got to go.."

"Alright.. okay, I'm gonna run. Go back to bed, okay?"

"Okay.. good luck. Call me when you find out, okay?"

"Okay. I'll be back soon, babydoll."

He kissed my forehead, before grabbing his wallet and keys and heading downstairs.

I quickly fell back asleep, hugging the pillow next to me, tightly to my stomach.

It took me quite a while to wake back up, only when the birds began chirping loudly outside.

"Guys.. be quiet." I grumbled, trying to silence the birds

They continued one their chirping, forcing me to get up. The chirping was never an issue until I started feeding the animals outside, behind Kevin's back. I always insist I don't feed them, knowing he'd tell me I shouldn't do it. And he's right, I shouldn't, the animals are multiplying, and all sorts of them. They're just so cute, though. I've named a few of them. Just the recognizable ones.

Seymour, you couldn't miss. He was this enormous squirrel. At first I thought he was fat and pregnant, but no. He's just super fat. That one will eat while i'm still in the yard. There's another one I named Rod. He was a really tiny chipmunk. I named a bird with only one eye. He was named Jeremiah.

The rest I hadn't named yet, but I still love them all.

I grabbed the birdseed out from the cabinet under the sink, as well as some stale bread and old cashews from the cupboard.
