It's been two weeks since Bucky finally came clean and things start to get better for him, he sleeps more, he feels safe enough around you to finally let go and sleep through the night.
He's becoming more affectionate towards you, kissing you more and more, you don't know where this is suddenly coming from but you're not complaining.
He still has his relapses in which he curls up and doesn't like to be touched in any way whatsoever, you respect that but you won't leave him alone until he feels safe again.
So you'll sit there, softly talking to him. Reminding him of the good times. Bringing up good memories helps him get out of that distressed state.
But luckily you don't have to right this second because you're getting ready for Tony's "fancy pants" party tonight.
'Doll?' Bucky asks as he walks into the room, still shirtless. 'You almost ready?'
'Yes actually, what do you think?' You ask showing off your white dress and the shoes to match.
'Wow I mean...wow...' he smiles at you and you chuckle as you grab his blouse and throw it at him.
'Put a shirt on Magic Mike...' you joke and he laughs at you.
'First time I've heard you complain about it...' he comments and you roll your eyes.
You're happy that he's getting more comfortable around you, and also that he's already making those cheesy and dirty comments towards you.
'But before I do that I have something I want to give to you...' he reaches into his pocket and pulls out a velvet box.
'Now before you freak out thinking I'm going to propose to you, this isn't a proposal but it's a gift, the proposal will come later...'
'Buck-'
'I'm not finished so shush..' he playfully smiles at you as he moves closer.
'You deserve this because you put up with me... which I know is a whole ass day job, don't even fight me on that.. and because I love you...'
'You don't need to give me anything just because I love you Buck... I love you for you, we've been over this..'
'Just Open it...whole I'll tell you a little story...'
'Is it bedtime already?' You joke.
'Y/n, just open...' he comments.
'Okay okay...fine...' you take the box from him as you listen to him tell this story about when you two were walking through New York.
You passed this jewellery store, it was small and cute and you glanced at the necklace displayed. It was one with small pearls, vintage. You loved it and Bucky could tell without you even saying so.
So while you were ordering food for the both of you, Bucky told you he had to go to the bathroom. He went to the shop and bought the necklace, then forgot about it, then found it again and now he's giving it to you.
'It's beautiful...'
'Just like you..'
'I love you Buck...' you kiss his cheek just as he finishes buttoning up his shirt.
'I love you too, could you maybe tie the tie for me?' He asks and you nod.
You didn't think anything could break your night, but little did you know about what's to come.

You and Bucky are the same when it comes to large crowds, you both feel incredibly uncomfortable when surrounded by people, so you hold onto him and he holds onto you.
Your arm is hooked around his, his hand covering yours as some sort of lock to keep your arm and hand right there.
The team greets you and you greet a couple of people you know from work, and it's going smoothly. That is until Rumlow walks up and greets you. The he moves over to greeting Bucky and you feel him stiffen, and there's a good reason for that.
It doesn't take long before you put two and two together, and while Bucky's mind travels back to that night, you stand there, torturing and murdering him in a hundred different ways, in your head of course.
When he's gone again you try to grab Bucky's attention, but he's too far gone now.
'Stop!, stop!, I don't want this..' he starts to hyperventilate as he feels his clothes being ripped from his body.
'Oh come on Barnes... I know you.. I know you like both, so why not have a little fun huh?' Rumlow talks right into his ear.
He rubs himself onto Bucky while he's squirming underneath. He wants to do something to get out of this, he has you, he's being unfaithful to you, or at least he feels that way.
The worst part hasn't even started yet, no matter how hard he pulls, the ropes won't give in, and all Rumlow can do is just laugh at the failed attempts.
'NO PLEASE STOP!' He tried to be as loud as he can but his voice will never be louder than the music.
'Scream all you want, they won't hear you...oh and if you tell her, I will kill her on sight...'
'Buck..' you whisper caressing his cheek.
His eyes finally meet yours. You can see him swallow down the lump as his eyes start to water.
'It's him isn't it?' You ask softly and all he can do is nod.
'Baby, you go join the team, I have something to do...' you smile at him and he moves to stand with the team.
You take out your phone and send a message to Fury to request some agents coming down to take in Rumlow before putting your phone away again.
You move towards Rumlow who has his back turned to you. You tap his shoulder and the second he turns around you punch him in the face. He falls to the ground clutching his nose.
'What the hell was that for?!' He yells as he crawls up again, only to get slammed to the ground again.
'You really think you'd get away with it didn't you?, by saying you'll kill me if he ever tells me?, well I have news for you, you prick!, I fucking know!'
He crawls up and smirks down at you before grabbing his gun and pointing it at you while glancing at Bucky.
'I told you, she's die if you told her...' he says as he turns back to you.
You're quick to act, swiping away his leg and taking the gun into your own hands, aiming at his leg and firing while other shield agents show up to take him away. Some blood splatters onto your white dress but that's the least of your concerns right now.
'You have fun in jail because once they find out you're a shield agent... they will give you a piece of your own medicine and maybe even worse...don't you dare to ever hurt him, threaten him or even look at him again!, because I'll be the last thing you see before sending you off to a vacation to the afterlife...' you speech as he gets dragged away.
'I'll find you!, and I'll make sure you won't set another step y/n! You too Barnes!'
'I'd like to see you try!' You yell back.
You turn to see everyone staring at Rumlow being dragged out of the party. You move over to Bucky and he wraps his arms around you.
'He won't bother you any more...' you whisper. 'Luckily god gave me patience...'
'Isn't it supposed to be strength?'
'If he would've given me strength, Rumlow would one hundred percent be dead...'
'Marry me..' Bucky breathes and you blink at him with wide eyes.
'What?' Your voice is a whisper.
'Marry me...please?'
'Yes...' you reply before pressing your lips to his.
He feels safe with you and he knows that he can't wait any longer to ask you, so he figured this would be the right time, and for you this is the most perfect moment.
His problems won't melt under the sun like snow but, with a little patience and help, you two will make it out just fine.
'Your dress is ruined...'
'Barnes, that's the last thing on my mind right now...'
'Really?, what's the first?' He jokes with a small smirk and you chuckle.
'A dance maybe?' You plead.
'With you?, always...'
Yeah you'll be just fine... and if Rumlow comes back, well you just have to show him that you can't be messed with. Something Bucky learned just now.
