"May I know the reason behind that dreamy smile of yours?", Rathna chuckled and sat next to Rashi, who was staring at the three men- Krishna, Xavier, and Farhan- standing together at the other corner of the balcony.

"Not--thing, sir.", she stuttered, gripping her glass tightly. She searched for her friends and found them busy with Alisha and Satya. What kind of game was her luck playing with her? Could it get any worse than this? Would it be rude to leave immediately?

"Ratna Raj. My name is Ratna Raj, don't call me sir.", he said in an annoyed tone. His eyes noticed her knuckles turning white and he sighed, "Why are you nervous? Did I catch you crushing on those men?"

Rashi spurted out the green tea from her mouth, and wiping it she exclaimed, "Excuse me? No!"

Oh, how she wanted to tell him that the only man she ever dreamed of was him, how much she loved him. But she kept quiet, she never had the guts to talk to the most charming man she had ever laid her eyes on, her very precious Gem.

"Then?", he prodded, "Why were you smiling at them?"

"They look beautiful.", Rashi whispered, her eyes, again, watching those men chatting with each other, "Men in love, they are the most beautiful creatures in the universe."

"Is it so?", he was intrigued.

"Yes, their eyes sparkle whenever they see their love. They hold an ocean of emotion for the woman- or man- they love, and their eyes become a mirror of truth reflecting all of those emotions.", she smiled, "Men in love become fierce, they aim for success and happiness for themselves and their love, they become warriors to safeguard their love. They fight the world as they dream about their love, for them that's what it all matters."

Rathna noticed her lips for the first time. He had seen them- oh, he had seen them numerous times- but he had never- ever- noticed.

As she muttered her opinion on love and men and everything, his eyes couldn't stop looking at how flawlessly her lips were shaped. They weren't small or large, just adequate, with a cute cupid bow lining her upper lip like the crown of eros, as if someone had carefully sketched them with artistic perfection.

"Men in love can never be chaotic, they become the gentlest souls. They hold the hands of their love with so much care as if that's the most fragile thing on the earth. Their touch is as light as a feather, slipping through the air like an illusion."

They weren't overly thin or too plump, they were like the petals of a lotus that had just bloomed. They puckered up whenever they moved to whisper oh-so-delightful phrases heeding her command.

"Men in love, they become the art--"

They weren't bee-stung or bland, just enough pink that redefined beauty, and... Wait, what the hell!? How come she wasn't wearing any lipstick?

"Si--sir?"

Rathna's eyes snapped up to look at her face, zooming out his vision from her inviting lips- oh, they were too enticing- and he swallowed a big lump, "Yes?", he breathed.

She chewed her bottom lip and his heart started racing.

Fuck! He coughed, his eyes rapidly blinked as he tried to breathe.

"I was say--saying tha--that--", her fair cheeks were tinted blood red.

Rashi was mortified. This was the first time she had spoken to him. And in the first encounter itself, she had started dumping so much rubbish that he ignored her.

She thought that he probably found her deadly boring and zoned out of the conversation. Could it get any more humiliating than this? Even the flirtatious Rathna Raja Rathore zipped his mouth to her blabbering buffoon stupidity. Gosh, how she desired someone to pull her away from that place, away from him!

"I never knew that you had a keen eye and such a poetic outlook on life.", cutting her stuttering speech Rathna commented and then... He looked at her with genuine interest, "Wait... I never knew that you could talk this much to anyone.", his eyes searched for hers as she glanced anywhere but him.

"I-- I should go, bye.", hurriedly standing, she turned to leave.

Rathna reached out for her, his right hand trying to grab her hand. His fingers grazed her silky soft skin and they gasped, both of them.

He felt a spark of something, tingling from the tiny point of contact- his fingertips- to his whole body.

He, immediately, recoiled and stared at her as she ran far away from him.

What the fuck was that!?

*cough* *cough* Something about the Gem *cough*

"Pee Loon" is such a cute romantic song. I was in my teens, singing 'peeeee looonnn tere geelay geelay hothon ki sargam' while dancing with my book as I happily studied the taxonomy of gymnosperms and angiosperms XD

Ah, good old days of plain biology- botany and zoology.
