Krithika could feel her heart frantically beating against her chest as her eyes took in the artifact of masculine charm in front of her. With a light smile and a few golden glitters pooling in his eyes, Xavier looked nothing normal, nothing human.

She was breathing faster, trying to fight back the pure attraction which that man was able to evoke within her. Defeat slashed her, her battles failed, when he smiled wide and those lovely dimples appeared.

Oh!

She felt parched and her tongue darted out to wet her lips.

"Like what you see?", he winked at her.

As much as she wanted to slap that arrogance of his, she realized he wasn't at fault. She did like the show presented to her.

Stupid!

Gathering her senses she replied, "I don't understand what you are saying, sir."

"No problem.", he cocked his head and scanned her length, from top to bottom, "But I like what I see, sweetheart."

What?

He leaned in closer, not too close, "I see a captivating beauty in front of me.", he smirked as her eyes widened.

What kind of game is he playing?

She cleared her throat, "Whatever you say.", she added as he raised his brow, "Sir..."

"Tsk, tsk, tsk..."

--

Three rounds of the game had been completed. She had successfully stayed as far as possible and did not fall out of the paper.

It was the fourth round when her eyes darted down, trying to find the edges and she noticed that it was closing towards him.

"Want to hold my hand?", he offered his left hand as she struggled to stand still, it was quite difficult to dance. She shook her head in defiance and turned her head to side. Maybe if she avoided looking at him, she wouldn't feel anything.

Why are you still dancing with him?

A good question for which she had no answer.

Because that's how you wanted this day to end. You wanted to be in his arms, to look into his eyes and forget the world.

"Shut up!", she muttered to herself.

They won the fourth round along with six other pairs. They stepped out for volunteers to fold the paper. From the corner of her eyes, she noticed Priya enjoying her company and she felt annoyed. Why could she not have someone else as her partner? It could have been anyone but him.

You wanted only him.

No, just shut up you dumb bitch.

Priya caught her staring and frowned at her. Her friend gave her a concerned look and she smiled in assurance.

"I would suggest you remove those abhorrent heels.", her attention turned to Xavier as his fingers pointed at her heels, "They might do worse damage to my feet."

"I am not going to stomp on you."

"You might fall."

She narrowed her eyes, "I am not removing them.", she declared, punching each word.

The way her feet and back ached, it would have been a better idea to take off the heels. Yet, she was adamant to not take any suggestions from him.

"I want to win, sweetheart.", he shrugged and she fisted her hands. Why was he calling her sweetheart? Last time she checked, she wasn't anyone's sweetheart.

"What if I don't want to win?"

He leaned towards her side, his lips so close to her ear, his breath fanning over her skin, "I'll make you do what I want."

She jumped back and glared at him, "You will do no such thing."

Chuckling he stood over the paper and offered his hand to her, again, "Come on, everyone is watching us."

Debating whether to accept his hand or manage by herself, she went for the latter option. Holding his hand could cause some mayhem in her mind and she was in no mood for that.

Unfortunately, her steps faltered over the paper and he grabbed her shoulder, "So stubborn.", his voice had an admonishing quality to it.

Her skin burnt under his touch; she wasn't able to focus on anything. His left hand traveled, all the way from her shoulder to her elbow, and he slowly dragged his knuckles to her hand, finally holding it in his warmth. Before she could resist his other hand circled her waist and with one effortless pull, she was dragged closer to him.

Every fiber, every cell of her body felt bursting with heat, she felt as if a torturous fever was boiling inside her, trying to kill her of her arousal.

"Breathe, sweetheart."

It shocked her that her lungs had forgotten to do their only function and she obeyed his order. She inhaled a long breath and froze immediately.

Musk and the dense woody forest.

Back to classic Anuradha Sriram's voice. "Lesa Lesa" is not on the top of the list to listen but it is something special and keeps dropping in between life.
