"Enough of this routine, I want to go on a trip.", Priya declared.

Krithika shrugged nonchalantly, "All the best, stay safe!", she wished her and focussed on her excuse of a meal. Suddenly, she had lost her appetite. Maybe not so suddenly, it was from the morning when her anxiety had crept in.

After dodging every point, every chance of an encounter with Xavier, she finally had seen him that morning- blood and flesh. She had punched the close button in the elevator infinite time in a rush and thankfully the doors had shut before he had stepped in.

She particularly wasn't in the mood to stay near him- not even fifty feet near, well that's far, but still- and a closed space would have been worst of all. It wasn't about claustrophobia; it was all about Xavier-the-asshole-phobia.

She snapped out of her thoughts when Priya tapped her arm, "I don't want to go on a solo trip, maybe we four can plan something together for the weekend."

Rashi and Akash nodded in agreement.

I am poor, please don't make me waste my money.

"I won't be able to come.", she continued while playing with a piece of potato in her lunch box, "I am planning to go home after one week, I need to save money for that.", she wasn't planning to go to her home ever, that was an effortless lie. That was the birth of a con artist inside her, lying smoothly every time she opened her mouth.

Rashi quipped, "Then I guess it will be only three of us."

Nodding, Priya questioned, "We can wrap up our work by tomorrow and take leave on Friday?", to which the other two agreed, "Krithika, I might need help.", she continued while pleadingly looking at Krithika, "On Friday I might require you to transfer some data to our work drive.", she hesitated, "It could be during late evening."

Krithika pondered before agreeing, "No problem."

She knew that morning Xavier had informed his team about his unavailability in the office for the next two days. It assured her that she wouldn't see the lion in his den. It would be easier for her to navigate through Priya's desk. Was that a relief? Yes.

After their lunch, her friends started to plan an itinerary for their trip. That kind of stung, but she wanted to save every bit of money before she could start hunting for a job, which she hadn't discussed with anyone. It would be difficult to switch jobs with no proper monetary savings and if her friends knew about her decision it would cause some drama, especially with Priya.

It was unbelievable that Xavier hadn't fired her yet. She hadn't heard anything from Satya as well. Was it trivial and she had cried for nothing? Or Xavier was planning to ruin her career and was just waiting to pounce?

Could be the latter.

She shuddered at the thought.

Run, before he does anything.

"Oh!", clicking his tongue for forgetting his keys in the cabin, Xavier walked back through the corridor, slowly whistling. He smiled at everyone who wished him.

It shocked him to know how much he had hardened himself; he had been blinded by his heartbreak and had distanced everyone. And now, when he started to move back to his original self, it felt different- positively different. His team started to discuss with him more than before, had better brainstorming sessions and work ideas, and importantly they all looked like they enjoyed working with him- that was surely a positive thing.

Surely, he wasn't the worst boss.

He entered his cabin and reached out to collect his keys. As he grabbed them from the side table a file resting below it dropped down. He stared down at the pages that had sprawled out of the file and onto the floor, which looked nothing like his work.

He bent down to collect them, immediately recognizing the file. Scanning through the contents his brows lifted in surprise when he saw some excellent observations. He collected those pages inside the file and kept it on his desk.

Probably, he would like to meet this hot-headed executive of Satya and discuss her work, who after all wasn't that irresponsible.

What was her name? Hmm... Oh, Krithika Ashok.

A/N

Kai Po Che was a beautiful movie, I enjoyed the movie more than the book. Yes, another unpopular opinion.

And "Meethi Boliyaan" is one of the most beautifully written songs in recent times.
