Xavier couldn't sleep.

There were visuals, of love and lust, of kiss and hurt, of him and her. It pulled strings of unbearable pain inside his soul, vibrating throughout his body.

Why!?

He knew, meeting Subhadra won't be an accident anymore. His mind had already started to betray him, illusions clouding his vision.

It had been two weeks and home wasn't a space free of her. The knowledge of her being in the same city, in the same place as his was making him descend into madness. He had started hearing her voice, her giggling with excitement whenever he had explained interesting stuff to her, shushing when he had touched her food, moaning when he had kissed her neck.

Xavier was losing his mind.

It was raining outside. His restless eyes blinked faster with each lighting that crossed his bedroom. How blissful his life would have been if he hadn't had the guts to flirt with random girls in college.

His face drew a sad smile as he thought of the day when he had flirted with her for the first time.

Subhadra Kumari Singh, Rank: 510. Why come here to the land of poor NIT?

That's none of your business.

It's my business if such a beautiful little babe gets lost in the world of darkness.

Thanks, but I would appreciate it if you shove your concern up your ass and leave.

Ha! Darling is sassy it seems.

And she had slapped him, palm striking loud on his cheek.

People had thought it was a very unromantic start to their love story but he had believed it was perfect.

She hadn't giggled at his silly flirting, neither had ignored him. She had been direct, on point, on time. She had slapped him to show that flirting wasn't the best approach to woo her arrogance. And he had deserved to be slapped to give him that reality check.

Don't ever dare to call me darling.

Her gaze had that fiery note, so intense that he had fallen deep in those before realizing it. And she had chosen him when he had proved his worth to claim her as his darling.

"Subhadra!", he screamed, his thundering voice overpowered the thunders outside.

He closed his eyes, trying to forget everything. It wasn't easy to love someone, lose yourself to them, and tear your heart to let them walk out of it. It wasn't easy to not be mad at yourself to feel loved, to feel claimed.

Subhadra had claimed his life.

Her hands had held all the powers to break him apart once and now, he was trying hard to avoid his destruction at any cost. He was close to letting it go, all his hard work of ignorance for years, to let all the restraints break free again just for one meeting- a closure from her.

He picked up his phone and saw several missed calls and texts from Samiksha. He had declined her calls for the past week. His phone pinged again and this time he couldn't avoid her text anymore.

'Xav, please pick up your damn phone- Iksha.'

He tried to breathe, tried to calm his mind. After a few minutes, he dialed her number, "Hello?"

"Xav, where are you?", Samiksha asked.

"Does that matter?", tears blurred his vision.

"We were best friends, Xav. What has become of us?", she sighed. Samiksha was the only person who had fought with them- Xavier and Subhadra, both- against the divorce. She had been angry at them, especially at him for some unknown reasons. He assumed that she saw him as a villain, one who left her sister-in-law on a whim. Samiksha had bonded well with all of her in-laws, she regarded Subhadra as her sister. She had judged her own best friend for the failed relationship between her sister-in-law and him.

"I don't know.", he replied. After he had divorced Subhadra, Samiksha hadn't called him once or checked on him. Krishna, on the other hand, stayed in touch. But she had just evaporated from his life, hating his guts for being a vile man who left her sister-in-law.

He heard her grumbling something along 'Stupid' 'Shit' and 'Subhadra'. A pounding headache crept into his head, "Iksha, bye."

Just when he was about to cut the call, he heard her. And his grip on the phone tightened, knuckles paled to white.

"Xavier, it's Subhadra."

He disconnected the call and threw it away, loudly wailing and screaming in pain.

The cover of "Sach Keh Raha Hai" attached is an absolute delight, it's not easy to take such a painful song and sing it so perfectly. Wow!
