"Darling, you do like to torment me, don't you?", Xavier asked Krithika as he walked her up to the balcony, his left hand firmly placed over the small of her back.

He had organized a mini-gathering to announce to his best friends, and Krithika's friends as well, about his clear intention of tying the eternal knot of matrimony with his love.

Yes, an official announcement about their engagement.

It had been too tough for him to fix a date, but eventually, after a month of calling each other names, they had all decided to meet just two weeks after Diwali, after all the leaves.

Xavier had been thankful that it wasn't too late as he had planned a few things for later, and one month had been just enough time for him to convince Krithika to meet his friends.

Initially, she had scowled, "Why do you want to introduce me to them now?", and he had been flabbergasted by her question, "Kanmani, they are my life and I intend to share my happiness with them.", it had been his straight reply to which she had huffed.

But, after the right amount of persuasion, Krithika had said, "Okay. But, I will look like a duffer in front of all your mighty friends." he had smiled at her absurd notion.

"Am I being brutal, love?", Krithika wet her lips and cocked her head to glance at his face, "Well, you should have thought twice before deciding on what you wanted from me.", she chuckled, running her fingers over his side and heard him mutter a few expletives under his breath, "Cajolery using your lovemaking skills wasn't the right way, Xav."

"Is this some sort of veiled foreplay you prefer?", gradually gliding his hand over her spine, he leaned close to her and whispered, "I don't know how it is working out for you, Kanmani, but for me, all I want to do is tear off this bloody red dress from your body and sink in so fucking deep that will make you forget reality.", he smirked as she blessed him with a shivering moan, "Or, perhaps, I'll take it slow, make you sob and beg for more while I eat--"

"Ah, here he comes with his blushing bride!", Alisha exclaimed, causing Krithika to push Xavier away, harder than she had intended to, and he stumbled, his body propelling to the front- almost tumbling face down and kissing the floor.

Almost- as his right knee landed first and he loudly shrieked, wincing in pain.

Farhan snickered, "So, these are the visuals of falling in love?", he dryly added, "Seems very agonizing though."

"FU--"

"Language!", Samiksha yelled as she ran to help Xavier to stand.

Xavier stood straight and glared at Farhan, "I hope that your pea-sized brain has accounts of our school days.", he hissed, raking his fingers through his hair, he added, "I have gained a surplus amount of muscle after that, it would be better to keep your tongue in control."

"I wasn't a Nawab back then.", Farhan slyly leered, "Try to touch me now, my snipers will engage with you. Oh wait, no, they will burst out your brain, it won't be entertaining for you."

"Quit brawling, you guys are frightening the guests.", Krishna snapped, watching Krithika and her friends nervously eyeing the ongoing drama.

Xavier huffed as he shook his leg and turned back to look at Krithika, "What was that for?", he asked her, trying to separate his visible annoyance from his tone.

Krithika narrowed her eyes, "Involuntary.", was a single-word reply from her.

Dhriti made sure to let everyone know about her presence by loudly shouting, "Kwit balling!", as she ran towards her mother, her little hand juggling her proud possessions- two KitKats.

All of them guffawed as Samiksha bent to pick up her over-enthusiastic daughter.

Xavier beckoned Krithika and her friends to join the table with his friends.

"Okay, sir.", Rashi muttered her acknowledgment and others followed her cue.

"Call me Xavier, please. I am not your boss here.", Xavier smiled at them, "You are here as my darling's guest, not as my employees."

Priya gave him a sheepish grin, "Okay, Xavi, as you say.", and that startled Xavier a bit as he never knew how quirky and bold his geeky junior executive was.

Krithika and Rathna covered their mouth as they tried to hide their obvious laughter.

"Err... Okay.", Xavier returned a hesitant chuckle and held Krithika's hand. He whispered, "This is new."

Krithika arched her brow, "Life is full of surprises, Xav.", she gave him a cute pout and continued walking with him.

As they reached the table, Nawab stood and smiled at Krithika, holding his hand out for her, "How come a twat like Xavier can impress a beauty like you?", he grinned.

Krithika, rather than blushing at his comment, glared at him, "Aren't Nawabs meant to be charming? Sorry, but I believe insults are not considered a form of chivalry.", she blurted out before she could judge her words.

Farhan flinched back, completely taken aback by the fierce reaction of Krithika.

Alisha couldn't hold it and burst out laughing, "Darling, oh, how I love this moment!"

Krithika rapidly blinked her eyes, trying to not hit herself.

Xavier cinched her waist, pulling her closer to him, and shrugged as his index finger accusingly waved to Farhan, "You, Nawabzaade, hold your snipers at bay, my woman will chew off your head."

"Forgive me, if I have offended you, it was rather impulsive of me.", Krithika murmured while facing Farhan, "I get agitated when anyone insults Xav."

Krishna grinned, "Reminds me of someone I know...", and immediately frowned, "Sorry, I shouldn't have said that."

Samiksha gave him a disapproving look and muttered, "We don't need to talk about the past anymore, that'll do good for everyone."

Rathna cleared his throat, "I assume introductions to be a great way to know each other, we can start with that?"
