She hurried to Xavier's cabin.

It was the first time for Krithika to receive a call from his assistant- Ms. Aarti Krishnan- to meet him. High-priority.

Usually, he had a habit of messaging her, personally. And before they had started to date, she had received only emails for work. She didn't remember the last time when she had a call from Aarti requesting her presence. Oh wait, never; it was not a single time.

What is so urgent?

Yes, she had been detouring, avoiding his presence for long.

It was cruel of her to punish him unnecessarily but her Appa could cause more than the required injury if he found out about Xavier and her relationship in the current situation. She wanted to deflect the current crisis and, maybe, later try to persuade. Was that a possibility? She had no clue.

Oh, you do know, don't act!

Why do you exist in my mind? To just make me feel shit?

She cursed herself.

Her body on the other had done nothing but lust her Azhagiya Asuran like she was on the perils of losing her ovaries- and orgasms? - the very next second, urging her to go and kiss him, and let him forgive her the way he would love to.

It had been too bloody challenging to breathe whenever she had caught him laughing with his subordinates while coolly sipping his coffee. He never had done that before, never!

He had never been to the cafeteria, he had never been around so many people- his employees- or never had been so carefree and pleasing company to anyone in the Xhasis. And out of all the things, one time, her fucker of a fiancé had seen her from afar, his eyes twinkling in love, and had winked at her while flashing his sexiest smile, making her toes curl.

Rathna and Priya, both had joked that maybe her love did more than what meets the eye, that maybe Mr. Joseph had found his heaven in her arms. They had thanked her for achieving the impossible, for bringing the best out of him.

What about him exploiting the worst of me?

She had wanted to scream but had silently smiled while fisting her kurti, the withered cotton crushing in her anger.

"May I come in, sir!", knocking at his cabin door, she attempted to compose herself.

He has promised to never get angry at you, but you don't need to fuel the fire. Don't you dare to fight with him!? Understood, Krithika?

Xavier's cabin had its invisibility up, a very usual sight, but for some reason, somewhere in her mind, it felt alarming.

"Come in.", his serene tone somewhat settled her jittery nerves and she opened the door.

A loud gasp escaped from her mouth as she visualized the scene in front of her, "What happened here?"

Papers and glass shards strewed like dust in every possible nook and corner of his cabin. Immediately, her eyes went straight, scanning Xavier and she observed that he was calmly sitting on his throne, royal as the stunning king- so fucking sexy- that he was, totally unharmed and smiling at her. Relief washed over her.

"What the fuck is this Porikki gossiping about you!?", she heard someone growling from the other corner of the cabin, claiming Xavier as a scoundrel, and she turned to face the person.

"Karthik!"

Her little brother was fuming, looking like he would pummel Xavier- a man who was far more muscular and towered over him by almost half a foot- to the pulp. The relief that had settled inside her a few seconds ago evaporated like vapors of rubbing alcohol from her body.

He did what he had said!

She had no idea why Karthik was standing inside that cabin, why her Thambi never pinged her a message to let her know that Xavier had asked him to meet, how or when her gorgeous darling had outsmarted her.

"We are taking up mint-condition interns this coming quarter, can't believe these many students are applying for apprenticeships!" Priya's chirping statement rang in her mind and she whined.

Walking closer to Xavier, she muttered, "Congratulations on playing it well! So fucking satisfied to know that you won't let go of things that easily."

"Thanks, I aim to please.", his smile widened, and yes, those same bloody dimples slowly deepened with delight, "Darling, I would like to acknowledge that your particular line of the Dravidian clan is full of nuclear weapons.", he turned his face towards Karthik, "Does the Geiger counter alarmingly beep like the Flight of Bumblebee in your house?"

"Porikki!", her brother spat, "Don't ever try to breathe near my sister, I'll pluck out your windpipe--"

"I love him, Karthik."

Krithika saw the red color from her brother's face gradually displacing to green, his expression changing to something that highly offended her. She felt hurt.

"Are you crazy or...what!?", he waved his right hand at Xavier, "He is... He is..."

"Everything I ever wanted, no, needed in a man.", she proudly stood for herself and Xavier, an unknown ray of confidence radiating from the sudden burst of adrenaline rush inside her body, "Don't you fucking dare to judge my life choices like Appa!"

"Akka!"

I was listening to this gem " Vizhiyile Vizhiyile". Nostalgia hit me like anything when my husband played this song, it used to be one of my favorites during college days. Ah, bliss!
