"What?"

She wanted to deny his claim.

"Don't act, Krithika.", his lips curled in distaste, "I stayed back that night... I saw you both kissing and that looked more than just kissing."

Oh, my gawd...

She felt the back of her neck heat like an oven, "Rathna... I... Please d-don't tell anyone.", she stammered.

"Why?", he hissed, "Did he ask you to shut up?"

"No! Why would you assume that?", she shook her head in disbelief, "I... I don't want to disclose my relationship with Xav to anyone until I am comfortable with it."

"Xav? You are calling him Xav!?", his hands waved high in exasperation, "I am not jealous of him or anything, but what the fuck... What kind of madness took over you guys to keep going at each other like that, moaning and groaning so loud.", he shuddered, "Cameras are recording every fucking thing, Chakudi!"

Squirming uncomfortably, she wanted to run somewhere to escape.

He exhaled loudly and clicked his tongue, "That night, I had followed the noise and found you guys doing whatever you guys were doing. You should have seen the shock on my face when I heard you scream his name, it took me some time to recover and leave."

She swallowed hard her whole-body heating to Rathna's words. She realized it wasn't from humiliation. She burned hot from arousal as she imagined how that night Xavier had made her scream with pure pleasure from just the play of his wicked lips and tongue. That man knew a few things about the art of kissing.

If he hadn't stopped on his own, she would have been more than happy to let him continue with no resistance. And to think of it, he had hardly kissed her anywhere other than her face and neck.

How would it be like---

Rathna snapped his fingers, "Oh Krishna! Are you dreaming about him!?"

Startled by his question she blinked rapidly to calm herself, "N-no.", she took a long breath, "I was thinking about work."

"Bullshit."

She flinched.

"I can read your face. Why do you keep lying? And I also saw you in the hospital, holding his hand, which confirmed my suspicions about your dating status."

"You came to the hospital!?"

"Yes, Krithika, for your kind information this department works under the jurisdiction of Mr. Joseph. I needed his signature on a few documents to proceed with design testing."

She inhaled slowly and sat down in a seat facing him. There was no way to hide from him, he had already seen enough, "I am sorry that I hid it from you."

"It's your personal choice to hide or not, but I was hurt that you didn't trust me enough. Yes, we have been friends for only a month and it's difficult to trust. Perhaps, I expected more.", he sighed defeatedly.

She stared at his face, "It was my personal choice but... it also was too sudden. I always had some pull when it came to him but I had denied it to myself at every turn.", she furrowed her brows, "And now things are moving too fast between me and him, it's overwhelming and confusing at the same time."

He regarded her for a few seconds, "Do you love him?"

Do I?

"I don't know.", she replied immediately, "We both are very much attracted to each other."

He scrunched his nose as if someone had thrown rotten eggs on him.

She continued, "...and I guess we do like each other. But love is a big word right now."

Love was not just a big word; it was a big emotion. She had dated a few men during her college days, and even had two failed relationships in her bag but it never felt anything more than general liking. She never knew how love would even feel, she never had loved anyone. And probably no one had loved her, made her understand what it was meant to be.

She had loved her mother, she probably still loved her, but that would be different than what everyone found and felt in their soulmate. But... Soulmates could be nothing more than a myth.

"If you consider me as a friend, don't keep secrets.", he smiled at her, "You know, I might be upset that you never dated me, even when I called you 'Chakudi'", he winked.

"I like you; you are a good man and I like our platonic relationship.", she smiled back.

"Yeah, yeah, platonic love and blah blah blah.", he rolled his eyes, "Just imagine being a competition to the supergenius Mr. Xavier L. Joseph, that man would beat me to a pulp if I tried to steal his girl."

She chuckled, "He won't, he's some sort of gentleman."

"Ah... Yeah, I did see an extremely gentlemanly act in his cabin that night.", his smile widened, teasing Krithika.

"Can't you stop thinking about it!", she hissed.

"Xavier...please...oh Xavierrr!", he mocked in a husky falsetto, "That, Chakudi, needs a great deal of time to forget."

"Oh Lord! You are such a jerk!"
