'Good morning! Meet you at the office, Chakudi.'

Rathna's message acted like an alarm clock. Krithika woke up every day with his message pinging up. The guy was an early bird. She yawned and typed a reply.

'Yeah.'

Over the past two weeks, they had become good friends. He even promised to bring her some of the home-made Farsans. He said that Farsans were Gujarati snacks, and gujjus were proud of them. Well, she didn't understand if that was a joke or if he was serious about his pride being associated with the Dhoklas and Khakharas.

Stepping out of her bed she walked towards the washroom. She took her toothbrush and, in a daze, started to brush her teeth, some habits were necessary.

Like dreaming every night about handsome Xavier.

Argh!

Washing her face she noticed her slight red eyes, indicating how her nights were becoming sleepless. Her little dirty treasure box happened to be spilling with delusional stuff, her subconscious was way overjoyed and did all the nasty acts in her dreams with him.

Why I am so horny!?

She wiped her face dry with her kurti and proceeded to make a cup of coffee for herself, to try and properly wake up. She was craving a good filter coffee, unfortunately, her P.G. didn't have the particular containers and she made a mental note to buy one on her way back from the office.

You keep forgetting anyway.

She chided herself.

"Who is Xavier?", her roommate, Anjali, asked. They had shared the room for the past year and had their fair share of fun as well as arguments.

"My boss.", she replied, adding the shitty instant coffee powder to her cup, "Why?"

"Last night you were murmuring his name in your sleep.", her curious eyes were trained on Krithika, "I heard it."

Shit!

Krithika dropped a spoonful of sugar on the floor. Hurriedly, she bent down and cleaned it.

She had dreamt of him...with her...doing things that she had read in all those kinky adult novels.

"Yeah, he puts a lot of work pressure.", throwing the dirt and sugar in the sink she continued, "He's terrible."

"Oh...", Anjali drawled, "It did sound terrible."

Muruga, I just can't take it this early in the morning.

The game was over. Xavier hadn't teased her any further, it stopped with him admonishing- or most likely seducing- her to stop biting her lips, and that was two days ago. After that, for the next two days, she had crossed him in the office numerous times- a deliberate act of hers- and he hadn't even cared to give a single glance at her side.

Seduction, attraction, my ass!

It felt odd. He felt like his old stoic self and it bothered her more than she would have liked to care. Even with her recent heavy workload to deal with, Xavier's ignorance was something that continuously disturbed her mind. The last few months she had seen a different side of Xavier, other than being cold and distant.

Perhaps, he is tired of acting.

Could be.

Her phone pinged. She sighed when she saw Priya's message.

'I came in early, got some sweets for you guys with me!'

"How does this boss of yours look like?", Anjali interrupted her while she tapped on her phone, "Because you sounded..."

Death could've been her best friend at that moment as she wanted to jump off a cliff. She was mortified to know that Anjali had heard her moaning in her dream.

"You can google him, it's not like he hides himself.", she sneered.

"I already did, just now."

Thanks for stalking.

"Hmm..."

"There's not a lot of pictures available of him, no clear shots."

Yes, because he stays away from the media.

"Hmm..."

"Does he look hot?"

"Hm--What!?"

She snapped her head towards her roommate who was following her from the kitchen to the room. Her cheeks flared with her query while she tried to stay calm.

Anjali eyed her, "It's always a fantasy, right...to have a hot boss?"

Was that what people thought before applying for jobs? She thought of career growth and most importantly the pay, money matters.

"Well, I don't have such fantasies."

But you do have a hot boss, the one who knows how to kiss you sensele--

Shut the fuck up! Her conscience throttled her subconscious. It was a real struggle.

"Whatever.", Anjali rolled her eyes as she left her alone in their room.

She drank her coffee and winced at the crappy flavor. She checked her email and remembered that she had an interview in the evening. She already had prepared enough and was confident about her chances.

Yet she felt uneasy about her decision.

If she got that position and had to quit at the Xhasis, she would be far away from him. That would put everything in the right place.

But something inside her felt hollow. There was something more to Xavier and she wouldn't know about it if she wasn't there, if she wasn't around him. She shouldn't care, but her heart skipped a beat when she remembered the look he had when she had sarcastically joked about her pitiful life, about her father's not-so-unconditional love.

It hadn't been that emotion; it wasn't the pity in his golden eyes.

Why would he even care!?

A/N

Jai in "Engaeyum Eppothum" is such a darling, innocent, and the greenest flag ever.

I just love this movie so much, even if it is heartbreaking to watch it till the end, I do watch it whenever I think of the innocent movie characters who change our perspective about life. "Kathiresan" is that for me.

What are your favorite movie characters that have changed your outlook on life?
