Xavier walked across the corridor leading to Satya's cabin. Finally reaching its destination he noticed that her cabin was switched to invisibility.

Hmm...?

It was very unusual of her; she had never once used them before that day. She was against installing smart glasses.

"What is there to hide?", those exact words were her sign of annoyance when he had argued that those damned things would help in having his own space within the office, a place where only he would want to live. After her doubtful agreement, he had installed one for her cabin too. It had been at least two years now since she ignored those cool features.

For a moment, it felt like a wall in front of him. It was new as Satya had always felt approachable, every employee of the Xhasis would vouch for that.

He heard shushed noises from inside and thought it would be a wise choice to knock before entering. Knocking on the door, he called her, "Satya?"

"Shit-" he heard her cursing. Almost after five minutes, he heard her reply, "Xavier, yeah come in."

Pushing the door open a little, he peeped inside. His brows furrowed in confusion as he saw the man standing beside Satya, "Narayan?"

His eyes danced in between them, taking in her flushed form as her hands kept correcting her saree pleats.

Closing the door behind him, he walked inside, "I thought you were in Mumbai.", he drawled and saw Satya blushing, "But I see you came to Chennai to attend some important business." Xavier raised his brow as his eyes glinted with mirth.

Narayan Anantharajan was Satya's late fiance's friend, that was all he knew about the man.

Long ago, Satya had recounted to him about how much she had suffered. She had lost her fiance and had been stuck in a coma for six months, all because of a gruesome accident that took all her happiness in the blink of an eye, almost eight years ago. After being sloshed, she had blabbered her heart out, every pain she had carried through all these years. It had ached him to see that such a beautiful face hid the sorrows of such a horrid past.

He had never seen her date anyone, except for one time when she was forced by her friends and had ended up with him. His heart had had fresh wounds from Subhadra that had dejected anything more than an acquaintance. Fortunately, Satya had also wanted nothing more than that and slowly it had flourished into a beautiful friendship.

She had never meddled in his personal life or probed any further information from him than he had acknowledged her, but he knew everything about her. She shared everything with him, chatting continuously. He thought that probably she felt at ease with him, that could be the reason why she never shunned herself from oversharing.

But he never knew about this new project of hers.

Women do keep secrets.

Standing across the room, Narayan glared at him, "Hello to you too.", his deep voice filled the room, his face showing a clear displeasure at being interrupted.

"Xav, you wanted to discuss something?", Satya interjected, sensing a frustrated form of Narayan beside her, "Is... Is it urgent?"

"Depends.", Xavier shrugged, making Narayan groan.

"I have to leave.", Narayan announced and faced Satya, "I'll meet you later...", he whispered something in her ears and she burst into beet red. Taking her right hand he placed a small peck on it and smiled at him, "Bye, love."

Xavier cleared his throat.

Narayan took his coat in his arm and pushed past him to walk out, deliberately shoving him to the side. Xavier scoffed, "Asshole.", he muttered to himself.

The room filled with awkward silence. Satya avoided looking at Xavier while he placed himself comfortably in a chair across the desk. She stood in front of him looking anywhere but him.

"If you want my approval, I say yes.", Xavier said, startling her and she looked at him, "He is a good guy from what you had described earlier, just a complaint that he probably hates me.", he flashed her a mischievous grin.

"You have such a charming personality that everyone wants to be your bestie.", Satya sarcastically bit back, "And why would I need your approval?"

"As your adopted kid, don't you think I deserve that?"

"I am not your mother!", Satya glared at him but her resolve dissolved at the sight of Xavier's bright face.

"Ha!", Xavier feigned hurt placing a hand over his heart, "So now you abandon your only child for that handsome man."

"Xav...", she whined, "Shut up!"

Well, well, well.

"You do talk about a lot of stuff but this...", he shrugged lightly.

"It's...it's complicated, Xav."

"Yeah."

Satya looked at him, "You are the only person whom I trust the most but I have my reasons to not share about him."

His brows creased in confusion, "I am not accusing you of anything, Satya." he shook his head in disbelief, "Can't you see? I... I am just so happy for you."

Her tense shoulders relaxed, "Oh!", a smile found its way to her face, "Thank you."

Passing her a handful of files he remarked, "Finally, I could be free from you.", she made a face that made him chuckle, "I might be a good listener but Lord, sometimes you have made me regret it."

Walking out of her office with a grin, he heard a set of expletives thrown in his direction.
