This chapter, some new stuff in coming into play. Yes, I'm introducing Caleb's past quickly. It's mostly because I have to take down Running on Empty ASAP because it's getting votes AFTER I said it would be taken down. -_-

So, I don't want to get my hopes up. Anyway.

The cover is up, tell me what you think! I think it looks good :D

One other thing- I'm so happy this made four pages ^^ This book is going to be so long compared to the others :D

Back to the story. This chapter will not be continu-

Wait. Why am I telling you what will happen this chapter? I might as well just let you read it yourself!

Why am I advancing the plot so quickly? I've got a ton of plot to get through this book. Plus hopefully everyone will like it more. :D

Now, on with the chapter!!!! :D

---/ Chapter 2 - Caleb's Point of View - Chapter 2 /---

The fear is plain on my face for all to see. They have me again. I escaped before. I probably won't get away with it again.

"Please..." I stutter, terrified. Not again.

"Bill, he's obviously not one of them." Another man, standing behind the man sitting across from me, speaks up. The man who I think is Bill grins and nods his head.

"I'm sorry for that. It had to be done. Reverse psychology, in a way, you see." He smiled kindly at me, and I know I look very confused. "We're not Team Rocket. We're actually Pokemon Headquarters, a special hidden part. Welcome. We are sure you are tired, and have came a long way, but it is very important we hear your story now."

I blink once, then twice. Is he possibly asking for my story? How this all started? I'm still confused, but I think that it doesn't really matter who I tell whatever, if it will allow me to take a little break. So I take a deep breath, and let it out.

"Okay. It began a while back, on a rather dark and stormy night...

---/Author's note:/---

The following is taken from the first and only chapter of a book called Running on Empty. I started it when I wanted to explain Caleb's journey, but only the first chapter was ever released. Well, I decided, if it's not going to be continued there, I think we should hear Caleb's exciting story here, in The End of time. And that is why I bring to you this. A story within a story.

Running on empty.

As a quick edit, I decided for the first draft of this chapter to include the old forward for this story. As it is more or less completely irrelevent, I decided to cut it out. So, here we go- to Caleb's tale!

--/--

It was a dark, stormy night.

Stop.

'Actually, it was- is today. Right now. And when you're running through a muddy forest to save your life,' thought Caleb, 'dark, stormy night is one phrase you do not even want to think of in the first place.'

Nevertheless, the 14-some-year-old teenager though, those words would be what his old L.A. Teacher used to call 'The perfecto Descriptiono'. She always said that his class should be proud to have a teacher that was specially tutored to learn some language nobody had ever heard of called Italian. They just thought the tutor was a scam. Unfortunately, she wasn't exactly the brightest teacher around, and continued to "impress" people with her "flawless" Italian. If only...

Anyways, so there he was, sprinting through an extremely muddy forest on a dark, stormy night, with rain starting to splatter on tree branches and logs, lightning flashing not that far away. It could be a beautiful scene, something to be looked upon - a picture that everyone viewing would say "wow". Of course, it's hard to appreciate natural beauty when this natural beauty may be your doom.
