29- Father vs Son

This chapter is dedicated to fathers everywhere. Happy Fathers Day!

HOW will this battle turn out? WHO will win? WHY is Chris's dad in the tournament? And WHAT are the rockets planning?

All this will be revealed in due time. Meanwhile, you might as well read this chapter.

Chris stood up. He then proceeded to stride down the stairs.

John followed his process with the side of his eyes. Meanwhile, he was scanning the area for any sign of Chris's dad. Finally spotting him, the exact opposite side of the stadium, John gave him total attention.

The time had came. The battle begun; Father... Vs. Son.

Chris's dad stood in the designate box for one battler, while Chris stood, chalk still, in the other.

"LET THE TWO ON TWO BATTLE... BEGIN!!!!" exclaimed the referee/commentator's voice over the loudspeaker.

"Wing! Go!" Chris yelled and hurled a pokeball into the air, which opened to reveal his first Pokemon, a strong bird-like Pokemon with a sharp curved beak and gray feathers. "Star!"

Chris's father replied with a black pokeball, thrown into the air. A large, red doglike Pokemon appeared, with sharp front teeth and a whitish mane. It's entire body was covered with thick, protective fur, it's eyes glowing yellow. "Ar!" came it's cry. Swiveling it's head to find it's enemy, it let out a monstrous roar.

"Wing! Use close combat!"

The large, flying-fighting Pokemon wheeled in a tight turn and flew at top speed toward the enemy.

"Staaaaar!"

Chris's dad quickly launched a counterattack.

"Use flamethrower!"

At the point-blank distance, there was no hope for Chris, his winged Pokemon taking all the flame to the head. It veered off course, landing in a crumpled mess.

"Wing! Return!" yelled Chris, holding out the red and white pokeball. A reddish beam of light flew out from the opening and enveloped the fainted Pokemon.

Chris pondered for a moment which Pokemon he should choose, flame or spook. He quickly came to a decision and threw one of his three pokeballs. "Go! Spook!"

Nothing appeared in the stadium, yet Chris appeared to be strangely confident.

"Use shadow dash!" he yelled into the nothingness of the darker parts of the humongous stadium.

A dark blotch of nothingness zipped out from the darker parts of he stadium. It flew into the fire-type opposing Pokemon, causing the red dog to lose it's balance and fall.

While everyone was watching this, chris was readying himself for the perfect time to strike.

"now... Water pulse!"

The day before, John had found a circular disk in one box in the team rocket base. It was marked, 'Water Pulse'

John had wanted to test it out; figure out what it did. But, it seemed, all of his Pokemon were unable to do anything with it. He had given it to Chris, who had used it on the only Pokemon he could- Spook, the ghost Pokemon. Now was his first chance to use it, so he hoped it would work...

The dark blur stop speeding around and righted itself, turning to face it's opposer. Spook opened it's mouth, and let out a ring of pulsating water, which sped towards the flame dog and looked like it was about to hit it head on.

As you should very well know, fire doesn't do well when faced with fire. But chris's dad was ready.

"Heat wave!" he yelled. The Pokemon let out a steaming wave of heat, which hit the ring of water head on. The water evaporated in midair, leaving Chris with almost no chance. This was his trump card, and it needed more power, just a little more, to work. But he had no way.

"Now! Incinerate it with flamethrower!"

"Hide!" replied Chris, telling his faithful Pokemon to disappear. The flamethrower hit nothing but air.

Chris clenched his teeth, what could he do? Hope came in the form of a yell from the stadium. "The other one!" yelled his best friend, John.

Then Chris remembered the other disc he had also used on spook. The blue disc, labeled 'Rain Dance', had also been used on spook. At the time, he had just done it for the fun of it, not thinking that it would be helpful.

Now he knew otherwise.

"Rain dance!" he yelled. Seconds later, the sky above the rootless dome began to turn darker, and they could hear the sound rain on the ground.

"Now! Water Pulse!" yelled Chris. Spook reappeared, and once more shot a pulsating ring of water at the enemy. This time, though, the blast of water was so strong it simply passed through the wave of heat that the fire dog once more shot out. It hit it head on.

"Arcanine has fainted!" yelled a commentator. "What will Mr. Maltine do now!?"

"Go! My last resort! Motar!"

The pokeball opened in midair, revealing a huge ball of flame.

The flame quickly died down, revealing an interesting Pokemon, which seemed to be made of magma.

"Magmo!" grunted the Pokemon.

"Use water pulse!" yelled Chris, sure of a victory.

"Use sunny day!" yelled Chris's dad before Spook could even begin to carry out he attack.

The sky turned sunny; all the water evaporated into nothingness. The Pokemon seemed to take in the brightness.

Chris gritted his teeth as the just launched attack evaporated in midair as well.

"Fire Blast!" yelled Chris's dad, and the Pokemon let out a ball of flame which exploded into a star of fire when it collided with Spook.

It was a one-hit-KO.

WHAT will happen next? HOW will Chris react to this surprising, against-the-plot-twist? WHO messed up the order of battles to make Chris face his dad? TUNE in next time to find out!

-Authorthoughts-

Sorry, the order probably will be more like this:

28, 29, 30, 31- Tourny

But remember, it's still a rough draft.
