"Yeah."

"Are you kidding me?" asked officer Jenny.

"I hope so," I said cryptically.

"Well, whatever happened," said a techie, the same guy who had been so freaked out about the mission, "I've been keeping an eye on that place. Seems pretty deserted right now. Everyone left about half an hour ago."

"What?" I exclaimed. "Let's go, then!"

"Yeah, we might as well," said Jenny, "if they're all gone, what's against it?"

I walked to the door, but Jenny stopped me. "Where are your pokemon?"

"I have no clue," I answered, "but they might be where I'm headed."

"It's too dangerous for you to go, then," decided Jenny.

"What!?" I exclaimed.

"Yes."

Jenny turned, and walked out, followed by two other officers, and before I could move, the door had slammed shut.

"Huh..." I didn't care what they thought, I was going as well. Nothing could stop me, and I knew the way there... I hope.

I darted out of the room, despite the techie's protests, and sprinted into my room. I walked over to my backpack... and walked past it, to the large hole in the wall that remained there.

I walked through it into a deserted alleyway that I knew beforehand was there. Normally, if I wanted to get there, I'd go around the building, not through it, but going through the hole was quite a bit easier, and more convenient.

I walked to a small box, and opened it. The box, in itself, seemed to have gone unnoticed, and was not wet nor falling apart. Inside, there sat a pokeball. A single pokeball, one that contained a pokemon I so rarely used.

In other words, my backup pokemon. I didn't keep it on me, or near me. It did need to be accessable, though.

Some may call it cruel to keep a pokemon in a pokeball for such a long time. But, I already knew that I only wanted a backup that wouldn't mind that, and I'm pretty sure I found, more or less, the perfect pokemon.

I grabbed the pokeball and walked out of the alley.

I watched as Jenny, oblivious to what I was about to do, climbed into a police car along with the other two officers. I wasn't stupid enough to dart out and beg to come with them, I knew Jenny could be quite stubborn when she wanted to, so this called for more... drastic measures.

I watched as the began to pull out of the parking lot, and that was when I made my move.

I darted out, sprinting faster than I thought I could.
