---/V/---

I blinked as the morning sun glared at me...

But it was unneeded. Some sort of red filter on my eyes, which were meant to protect a flygon's eyes from sand, seemed to dim the light a little.

Anyway. Where was I?

A zubat flapped it wings to stay aloft not far in front of me, and a man walked beside it.

I recognized that man.

Could it be?... Yes. It was a former... co-worker.

He chuckled evilly.

I glanced behind me to, once more, see an enemy.

That kid who wanted so badly to fight with me...

Was he called... Gavin? Yes, that's right... Gavin.

I was surrounded by enemies.

And I had no friends.

Gavin pulled a red device out of his pocket and consulted it. I heard him swear, then look at me oddly right afterward.

Then his eyes lit up, and he pulled another pokeball out of his backpack. As I disappeared inside a capsule, I saw a flash of white and black fur.

A familiar flash.

---/Gavin/---

I don't know what was weirder, the fact that I had possesion of a level one flygon, or that I was trying to use my enemies' pokemon to attack my enemies' friends.

Was I crazy? Or stupid?

Probably both.

The absol stood in front of me, growling loudly.

At who, I had no clue.

It seemed to be contemplating something, then roared as it let out a powerful pulse of darkness, which surged towards both me and the Team Rocket man.

As it hit me, I felt my breath being knocked out as I became unconscious...

---/---

I awoke lying on a bed in a small room, remembering it from the five years it had been my home. I remembered the very day...

"Where are we going, mister Fred?" I asked the tall, kind police officer that had been my mentor for the past two years, after my best friend and ten-month mentor, Carl had died in an 'accident'. They didn't tell me what had happened, but from snippets I picked up from conversations and the feeing in my gut, I knew it had to be those bad people.

"Don't worry, Gav, everything is going to be okay," he replied, packing up te last few of my small amount of possessions.

"But where are we going?" I asked again, knowing that the phrase 'Everything is oing to be okay' was the worst thing I coud hear. When my parents died, those were the words they used to comfort me. When Carl had died, the same words were said. When I had broken my leg in a pokemon attack, guess which words they had said. (Rhetorical queston) Those words only meant bad things.

"We're just... relocating." He replied unsteadily, unsure of what to say to reassure the troubled ten-year-old.

"Oh..."

In less than an hour, two  policemen, not including Fred, piled into a moving van. A policewoman and I followed in an unmarked police car.

And ten minutes later, we had arrived at yet another poice station. While the one that had been my ome for three years was beaten up, with many a mouse and bad lighting, this one looked 'spic and span' or something, as the young policewoman had noted as we pulled up outside. She had noted her name was 'Jenny', and that this place would be a new home for both of us. When I had asked about Fred, her expression had dropped, and had simply stated "He'll be... staying behind."

With those somber words, we had gotten out of the vehicle and went inside. Only a day later, I had a small room with a bed, and all of my things (not much) had been transferred inside.

It was a new home...

---/---

I looked up as a policeman I had never met walked in.

"Hello. My name is Johnson. I was wondering if you could answer a few questions for me?"

I glared at him, but nodded.

"First. Your name is..?"

"Gavin."

"And you live in this police station why?"

"Why do you care?" He nodded slowly, then went on. I could tell the questions would become more serious.

"Why were you knocked out on a sidewalk with a Team Rocket man and his zubat knocked out not far in front of you?"

"An absol attacked both of us."

"Why would an absol attack both of you?"

"Long story."

"I have time."

"Good for you. I don't." I stretched lightly.

"Where did this absol come from?"

"My backpack."

"You have a backpack?"

"What do you think?"

"How exactly would an absol fit in a backpack?"

"A pokeball."

"Was the absol yours?"

"No."

"Why did you have an absol that wasn't yours in a pokeball?"

"Why do you care?"

He looked at me, and I could tell he was beginning to lose his patience.

"Where is this absol now?"

"Probably looking for it's owner."

"Who is it's owner?"

"A Team Rocket person."

"Why would it attack the Team Rocket person, then?"

"I'm wondering that myself." Truth be told, I hadn't given that much thought. Why would it attack another Team Rocket?

"I can see you're really interested in helping out."

"Not really."

"Then I guess I'll just leave."

"Good. You were beginning to bore me." I decided that the 'smart' answers might make him leave.

He glared at me angrily and walked out.

Then the wall imploded.
