The Rays of Dawn [The Darkened Time Series Book 2] ~ 15

Start from the beginning

Everything would be okay, someone always came in time.

Right?

Distracted, I didn't even notice the knife fall.

And fall.

And slice, almost mechanically, through my tail.

I didn't even have time to feel pain, I instantly blacked out.

Duh duh duh...

You're walking through a deserted alleyway, on the way home.

Suddenly, a super-rare pokemon surprises you, coming out of nowhere. You know that a capture will be impossible without weakening it first, so you reach into your pocket to pull out your pokemon's pokeball.

But it isn't there!

You frantically search all your pockets, but you find nothing. As you search, the pokemon gets away.

Has this ever happened to you? Well, never forget your pokemon again with the all-new door-mounted pokeball holder, which beeps once whenever anyone gets close to it! Two come in a pack, so you can put one on each door!

Buy one at the PokeMart near you!

Guy: "All right! With this, I'll be sure to have a pokemon with me next time!"

---/Gavin/End Intermission/Gavin/---

I leapt off the roof of the car after Jenny and the other two officers had already entered the building.

Entering the Rocket hideout, I quickly searched the place for a room containing pokeballs.

It didn't take long.

There was a room, the door ajar, completely full of pokeballs. I quickly searched for any pokemon that might be mine, but was interrupted by the sound of Jenny screaming. I had noticed the room they had ran into only seconds before, and I dashed to it, and inside.

A scientist was pinned to the floor by a panting growlithe that I recognized as Jenny's. She had never evolved it for some reason, so it was much more powerful than any ordinary growlithe.

But I turned my hand to where Jenny was staring.

There, one a once white table, lay a flygon. Well, at least most of it. There seemed to be six straps, one for its neck, one for each arm, and one for each leg, as well as one that was holding down something that would never move again.

A knife, embedded in the table, was seperating the tail from the body.

Or basically, had already seperated it. Permanently.

The police officers, not even noticing me, were staring in horror at the blood.

I decided to take action.

"What did you do!?" I exclaimed.

"Wouldn't... it... be obvious?" choked the scientist, as one officer spun around to stare at me with wide eyes.

"What can we do?" I asked, taking a threatening step forward.

"Heh..." he grinned suddenly, and mumbled a few things to himself.

"There is one way..."

"What is it!?" I grabbed him by the neck, realizing slowly that I really had no reason to save the flygon/ex Team Rocket member, no matter who he was. I guess I was just acting by instinct.

"I will tell you... if you promise to leave with it right afterward, not taking anything or anyone else with you."

I knew I could go back on my word, but I didn't want a bad reputation. And, in my mind, I weighed the options. Save him, or take this guy prisoner, and save all those pokemon.
