Anyway, on with the story.

Peter has interacted with all different types of people, different religions, races, sexualities. But in all of his seventeen years of being on planet earth, he's never met a blind person. Well, that was until today, Peter left the coffee shop MJ worked at getting his usual black coffee to go and heading towards a rickety building. It reminded him of his apartment, he walked up the steps all the way up to the right door, looking at the sign it read: Nelson, Murdock, & Page Attorneys At Law. He was in the right place, he knocked on the door and heard a friendly voice on the other side.

He entered the room and was met by a blonde woman, she introduced herself as Karen, she smiled at him and told him to sit down and wait a few minutes while she got her colleagues. He reminded himself to be vague about his situation, if he didn't, there'd be more consequences coming his way and he absolutely didn't want anyone who could get hurt be involved. Of course he did watch Mr. Murdock catch a brick without looking, is the man really blind? Or does he have a spidey sense too?

Before he could think more of it, Mr. Murdock and his other associate he assumed was Mr. Nelson came out of their respective office and met the young boy. Matt spoke first, "Hello I'm Matthew Murdock, and you are?" He asked, Peter stood up and shifted nervously.

"Oh, I'm Peter. Nice to meet you sir." Peter replied, keeping his last name out of conversation. Hopefully this whole thing will work, that's the only thing that ran through his mind.

Mr. Nelson then spoke up, "And what can we do for you Peter?"

Peter took a small breath before explaining, "I did some research and I was wondering how to get emancipation. I heard you guys were good attorneys so I came here."

The three adults nodded, meanwhile Karen asked the question all three of them were thinking. "Do your parents know you're here Peter?"

Peter shook his head, "No, they're... deceased. So are my aunt and uncle, I don't have any family."

Somber looks washed over them. What has this kid been through to the point all of his family members were dead? "We're sorry for your losses Peter." Matt said.

"Thanks Mr. Murdock."

Matt chuckled, "You don't have to say Mr. or Ms. Peter. Call me Matt, that's Foggy and of course Karen."

Peter raised his eyebrow and tilted his head to the side. "Foggy? Is that a nickname or i.. is that your actual name?"

Foggy laughed, Karen joining in as well, "No, that's a nickname Matt gave me when we met in college."

Peter smiled, these three people definitely gave off the energy of best friends, it reminded him of MJ and Ned. He deeply missed them, if he hadn't botched that spell everything would be fine. No, Parker Luck always had to inch its way in somehow. Matt could see Peter's quiet demeanor and walked him into his office, Foggy and Karen following behind.

Matt started to explain, "Alright Peter, here's a basic understanding of what emancipation for a minor is: it's a legal mechanism by which a minor before attaining the age of majority is freed from control by their parents or guardians, and the parents or guardians are freed from responsibility for their child."

"But because your parents are no longer here, and I'm going to assume that you're not of legal age?"

"I'm seventeen, August 10th 2001 is my birthday." Foggy nodded in understanding, but Matt had this feeling there was more to Peter than what was shown on the surface. But he kept quiet so the teen wasn't overwhelmed.

Karen wrote down some notes, "Has CPS been in contact with you? They should know about your case."

"They don't know, my phone broke and I can't afford a new phone. I saved up enough money for a place, and I'm trying to earn my GED so CPS was the last thing on my mind. S.. Sorry."

Matt waved him off, "Don't be sorry kid, you were just looking out for your best interest." Peter nodded as Matt listened to his heartbeat, it was steady but would skip a smidge. He needed to talk to Karen and Foggy to see if they could get more information on the young boy, maybe Karen could go see Ellison and do a background check on Peter.

"Okay Peter, me and my associates are going to talk and then we can go over some paperwork." The three adults got up and left Peter sitting in the room, they seemed to be thinking the same thing: this kid was keeping details out, being as vague as humanly possible.

Foggy crossed his arms, "This kid is keeping information from us. We need to learn more but I'm afraid we may scare him off."

Karen acknowledged the statement, and Matt turned to her, "Yeah, I was going to ask, Karen, could you talk to Ellison and see if you can dig some more info on Peter?"

"Yeah, I can do that, give me an hour and I'll see what I can find." Karen replied, grabbing her coat and car keys but before leaving the office Matt and Foggy went back to where Peter was and asked for his last name for the paperwork. Peter hesitated but ultimately gave them his last name, he knew they didn't know who he was. And as he eavesdropped, they weren't going to find anything on him. He was definitely screwed.
