Today's verse: Isaiah 53:4-5

New Century: But he took our suffering on him and felt our pain for us. We saw his suffering and thought God was punishing him. But he was wounded for the wrong we did; he was crushed for the evil we did. The punishment, which made us well, was given to him, and we are healed because of his wounds.

NIV:"Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed."

Meaning: Jesus died on the cross for you and me. He was crucified for us! Because of his death and resurrection, you and I have the hope of eternal life with Jesus Christ! This is a really impacting and fantastic verse.... Jesus was pierced for our wrong doings. All the times we've lied, cheated or stolen. Like John 3:16 says, God gave up his one and only son so that some day, if we have accepted Jesus into our heart, we will live eternally in heaven! What an amazing gift! It was because of Jesus' victory over death that we have this hope. Jesus was a perfect, sinless man that had never done anything wrong, yet he suffered a terrible death for us. The punishment that brought us peace was on Him. It should have been me hanging on that cross, not Him. Yet God loved us so much that he gave his one and only son so that we may have eternal life. Even the death couldn't stop Jesus and the grave didn't hold Him back! What an amazing story:)

Take Action: This is something really cool that I did at a camp. Write down all the things you know you've done wrong- the times you've disobeyed, lied etc. Think of as many as you can. Then, take the sheet of paper and burn ( if you are doing this, be sure to be safe and get help by an adult if needed:), rip or somehow destroy the paper. As you watch it burn, shred etc. say a prayer thanking Jesus for what he did for you and how he was crucified for those things and because of that, you are forgiven! When I did this, it was a really neat experience, it was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders!

Thanks for reading and have a great Easter:)

God bless
