As cliché as this may sound, he found her laugh breathless. The way she smiled to other people, she looked so carefree. What weighted him inside his chest painfully was the lingering thought that she never smiled like that when she was around him. She never let him see her glowing this way. She never stood so confident with him. She looked like a grown-up women that couldn't be tamed, standing there, captivating people around her. She used to look like an innocent child, that needed care and attention. Her innocence brought him in. But then he found out about her demons, and they scared him away. She was more than just what she showed. She was numerous faces and personalities stuck in a body. She was a feminist strong grown-up women, a five-year old that loved mysteries, and a caring old lady all at once. And that's why he couldn't love her. She was too much.
