Ch. 86 Blood Calls to Blood

"And you are not my father, Asmodeus. Don't go lecturing to people that don't want to hear a repeat of what they know," I said.

"Why not stop me?" He asked.

"Why lecture me in the first place?" I questioned.

"There is no right way to put this," Asmodeus replied.

"If there is not, then it may not need to be said," I replied.

"You may be right, but not everyone will see that," he said softly.

"I know," I said.

"Then why protect them?" Asmodeus asked.

"'Family isn't just... DNA. It's about people who care and take care of each other,'" I quoted.

"Family is blood, daughter," Hera cut in.

"You have no idea what family means, Hera," I said, deathly calm. I slowly honed my anger into a fine blade and channeled my magic into it.

"It is you who does not understand," Hera said matter of factly.

"Oh really?" I asked.

"Yes, my dear," she replied. "Come. There is still much you need to learn."

"No," I said firmly.

"What was that, dear?" Hera asked tightly.

"I'm not going with you," I replied. I felt her magic snake its way around me. It tightened its grip until it was unyielding to any movement I made.

"You will forgive me for this in time, dearest daughter," Hera said.

"I may. I may not," I said, easily breaking free of her magical hold on me using very little of my own magic. I rolled my shoulders to get rid of the tightness Hera's magic had caused.

"How?" She demanded.

"That does not concern you. If you would be so kind as to leave my place of residence, please do so. I wouldn't want to stain the marble," I replied.

"You little slut! I will make you regret this!" Hera yelled.

"I'd like to see you try," I dared. Hera left in a swirl of small paper crowns that burned as they fell. The only trace Hera left behind were the ashes.

"She will not forget this," Asmodeus said.

"I will deal with her when she comes," I said.

"Ma'am!" Ares yelled. One look at his outfit told me everything.

"They are marching," I stated.

"The others are attempting to keep them from doing so," he said. I handed Senbonzakura to Ares.

"Keep her," I ordered.

"For how long?" He questioned.

"You will stay together until the day you die. Clear?" I asked.

"Crystal," Ares replied.

"Good. I'll put an end to their antics shortly," I said.

"There are thousands," Ares said.

"They don't have a giant snake they can borrow from Valhalla," I said.

"That is certainly one way of doing things," Ares said.

"Those that are most creative survive the longest, dear," I said.

"That is true," he said.

"Now, to get that snake here," I mused.
