[the 30th of December]
Bobby arrived around 4 a.m., and Jiang Cheng was thankful.
The shift wasn't too bad, but he was really exhausted. His plan was to sleep through the next days, and work hard during the nights, anything really, just so that he wouldn't be thinking about Lan Xichen.
It sounded like a fool-proof plan and he walked home through the freezing night-time morning of the 30th December, aiming to exhaust himself completely indeed. He had 12 hours of rest, he surely could sleep through them! Easy-peasy.
But when he got home, the flat smelled like him, like them, and when he entered the bathroom for a quick shower he saw Lan Huan's shampoo, and his mind vividly described some precious memories that had played out here, right here, and he was doing his best not to fall into the black hole that was despair and inconsolable sobbing.
No. No, this was going to be anything but easy.
The whole house was now strewn with small objects that were his. He hadn't even noticed them before, gotten used to all this far too quickly, but now... they all stuck out like awful, sore thumbs.
Sniffling a little, just like a small child, he went to bed, hugging his pillow, and fell asleep, choking on his tears.

It was daytime outside, and this is all he knew – his phone was ringing and he weakly swore to himself that he was going to throw the damned noise-maker through the window now!But then he gasped – it could be Lan Xichen! What was the time?! Was it noon? Was it him?! He sharply remembered why he hadn't turned off the sound last night, and now grabbed the phone, not really checking the caller ID – because... who else would be calling him at all?
''''
- Mmmmmmmfmhmhhmhhhhhh.
- Hi, A-Cheng! Are you still sleeping?! It's 11 o'clock! Shame on you!
Yea, he could recognize that voice just about anywhere. Wasn't the asshole supposed to be in a hospital?! Like, resting?! Immobile? Not moving??? Not torturing people?! Maybe in a coma? PREFERBALY!!! Or???
- What---
- It's me! – Wei Wuxian chirruped far too merrily.
- I know it's you, motherfucker! – Jiang Cheng was grumbling over the phone. – What do you want?!
