The conversation was interrupted by the doorbell. The house was too well sound-proved and they never noticed the two vehicles getting parked in the front.

Lan Huan spent a lovely evening with Estella and her two boys, who turned out to be quite young, barely of age in fact, but still quite a lot taller than their mother. She frowned when they arrived with a pair of pizza boxes and a six-pack, but Lan Huan squealed with happiness, praising them, thanking them, and giving them too much money  –  for the fee, the effort and the pizza, amused by the messy arguments his maid had with both her sons and with him over money and Christmas bonuses.

Lan Xichen was happy.

These couple of hours were precious to him, because they felt like what a family  should feel like, a real family. These people were not rich, but they were genuinely happy. He wanted, he craved what they had.

Finally, at about 9 p.m., Estella threatened to come back on Wednesday, as per the usual arrangement, and he tried to persuade her to take a few days off because of Christmas and all, but she wouldn't listen, threatening further, this time  -   with bringing him Christmas Stollen

He grunted, but finally surrendered, ultimately driven by the logic of FOOD.

He saw them off, saying his goodbyes in a great mood, dreamily wondering whether Wanyin would cook for him again...

All alone in the big, lonely house now, his baby parked in the front lane, he remembered. He remembered to miss him, and the sadness returned with full force.

The Sunday was so dull and boring that he decided to just sleep in and stay in bed all day. He only made it half-way, as he got so bored, and felt so full of energy for some reason, that he grabbed a bottle of red wine from his deep reserves (a.k.a. the cellar),  and started with it, no coffee, no tea, no juice, no breakfast.

- It's probably a good thing that Stella is not here...  -  he hiccupped, only half-succeeding in getting drunk.

The TV was boring too.

Wangji wasn't answering his phone, and he worried, but only a little  –  he had no energy to be angry with the brat today.

At one point he got so desperate not  to think about Jiang Cheng that he almost got into the car and drove to his Di's flat in his underwear.  Yea, Wangji wouldn't be surprised, but he most probably would just kick his ass back to the suburban villa zone where his house was.

He sighed.

The brat could be really stubborn and violent when provoked enough. And now with A-Xian in the hospital  –  Wangji was quite unpredictable, this being his first boyfriend and stuff. He took a new generous gulp directly from the bottle, and promptly gave up on this plan.
