This conversation was so very different from the previous one that Jiang Wanyin was gaping. The tone of voice was one he had never before heard Lan Xichen use, and he suspected that it was the voice he used in court as well. He had never talked to him  that way...

He bit his lip. 

He knew too well what it felt like to live in a broken home. He felt his breathing calm now, his tense body was starting to relax too, and he instinctively knew that that phone call had been hard. He reached up and just kissed his neck softly, speechless.

- Just one more, darling... I promise... After that you will have my full attention.  –  Lan Huan mumbled.  –  I promise you, darling.

- I love you, Huan...  -  he whispered in his hair, and just waited, silently, curled-up and warm, listening.

Lan Xichen dialed his brother's phone number to be met with Wangji's panicking mumbling:

- Ge! How are you?! Is everything alright?!?

and then a wild yell came:

- MOTHERFUCKER!!! I hate you, Wangji!!!

Lan Huan felt, more than heard, Jiang Cheng snigger in his neck, and asked over the line, amazed:

- Wangji... Is this a bad time perhaps?

- Yes... No! No.  How are you? Where are you?!? Are you home???  –  he blurted out, making Lan Xichen raise his left eyebrow.

- I am, Di. Won't you calm down first?  –  he mumbled. Why did he always act like his mom, Jesus Christ!!! Worse than his mom, actually!

- And... the party?  –  his brother asked him hesitantly. 

Of course.  This was the most important thing in the world! 

He frowned, remembering things he would give good money to be able to forget.

- It was awful. As always.

- But you are ok?  –  the brat wouldn't let go.

- I am. We are.

Lan Huan blushed. 

He didn't mean to say the last sentence, but was thankful for the gentle sigh and kiss on his neck now. Jiang Wanyin was purring there, and it sent shivers down his spine again.

- "We"?  –  the boy grumbled over the phone now, no doubt curious.

- Yes.  –  Lan Huan said boldly.  –  Me and Jiang Wanyin. We are having lunch. –  he had to change the topic, and presto,  if he didn't want a rant coming up his lane!  –  So, how are you guys? I hope you haven't been foolish enough to try to get to work? People have been calling me, everybody says that downtown is totally blocked, machines cleaning up the snow or something...

- Umm, back up.  –  his Di huffed, irritated, and Lan Huan bit his lip. The damned brat!  – Tell me about the "we"  thing.  Are you two dating now?!

Lan Xichen laughed out now  –  it felt so good to even hear those words spoken out. It was also very flattering and nice to hear his younger brother be jealous!
