I woke up to a silent and nearly whispering conversation in the hospital bed. When i opened my eyes, i saw Lexie still dead asleep next to me on a chair, her head falling on her shoulder, and her hand in the bed next to me. I blinked twice and looked further up, seeing Derek talking to Addison in the corner.
-Hey! You woke up. - Derek immediately felt me looking at him, and came closer.
-Mhm.
-How are you feeling?
-Good. Much better. - i answered sleepily.
-Anything which slightly even feels like a contraction? - Addison closed my chart.
-No.
-You've been off meds for the night. I'll do a quick ultrasound. If everything goes like planned today, you can go home tomorrow. But still, you need to rest a lot. You will be 35 weeks tomorrow, am i right? - she asked me.
-Yes. - i answered, smiling lightly.
-Okay. Cold gel coming. - she warned me, as she pushed some on my stomach. I grimaced once, but it quickly changed to a normal temperature as my body warmed it. I heard Derek's pager go off.
-Go. I'm gonna be okay. - i told him, assuringly.
-I'll be back. - he promised, and gave me a short kiss on my lips.
-Get me Zola when you can, please. - i asked him as he exited.
-How are you? - i asked Addison.
-I should be the one asking you that.- she chuckled.
-Nope..I mean..i heard you have a son. - i corrected myself.
-Yeah. Henry. He is...wonderful. We adopted him. - she shared some information.
-And i got married. Jake. Jake is his name.
-Congratulations! - i smile was playing on my lips.
-Thank you.
-You know...this doesn't have to be weird. I like you. And we can..be friends. - she continued, after a snore came from my sister's sleeping form.
-You should bring Henry. When you visit Seattle next time. And Jake. - i suggested.
-I'd love to meet them. - i finished, as she wiped the gel.
-Yeah. I will.
-She really can snore. - Addison chuckled as Lexie hitched in her sleep again.
-It runs in the family. Did I do it too?
-Yeah. - she admitted.
-She's been up with you for a long time. Even when i came to check at night.
-I love her. - i sighed.
-I see no complications. Final decision is that i want to keep you in for observation until tomorrow night. If nothing changes, Derek can take you home.
-Thank you.
-You're welcome. - she nodded, picking up my chart, exiting the room.
