I watched Derek ring the doorbell, while holding Zola's hand. The front door immediately opened, revealing Carolyn, who was standing there, with a huge smile on her face.
-Derek, i'm so happy to see you! Where is she?- she hugged his son instantly.
-Oh, and Meredith dear! Come on in honey! - she invited me in, and i took the two steps while i was holding Zola's hand. When i entered i saw a group of grown-ups standing further back in the hallway.
-Mum, she is Zola. Our daughter.
-Zozo, she is grandma. - Derek squatted next to Zola, who was clinging onto my leg, not letting go of it. She hid behind my knee, as Carolyn attempted to see her.
-Zozo, it's okay. - i scooped her up from the floor, and Derek followed us. She grabbed a fistful of my hair, not pulling it, just holding onto it.
-She is your grandmother.
-Mommy? - she asked, as she held the sweater i was wearing in her little grip.
-Yeah. Grandmummy. - i turned her around, so Carolyn could see her. Zola waved her fingers towards her shyly.
-What is your name? - Carolyn asked her, wanting to hear her voice. She shot me a look, careful of my reaction, and as i nodded, she answered.
-Zola. - she told with her beautiful voice.
-I'm your grandmother Zola. - she seemed completely melted.
-Let's go in. - Derek suggested.
-It's nice to see you again, Mer! - Amelia stepped out of the crowd, and hugged me.
-Yeah, you too! - i smiled at her.
-Hi, Meredith! - Nancy nodded.
-Nancy, hey! - Derek answered, helping me out.
-Mer, this is my sister's husband, Dean. - Derek introduced me to the man next to Nancy, and we shook hands. Just like i did with Kathleen's partner.
-Mummy, where is the girl? - a blonde head stepped out from in between the legs. She was about 4 years old, holding another boy's hand.
-Derek! - she jumped into Derek's lap, as soon as he saw him.
-Katie, how are you?
-Guess what? I'm four now!
-How is kindergarten going for you? - Derek asked her, and turned to the boy during, who also jumped into his neck.
-I'm in school! - he told him.
-Who are you? - a redhead pointed to me from the side.
-Please help me pack in, so i can introduce Meredith to them. And Zozo. - Derek chuckled. I picked up one of our bags from the floor, but just as i did so, Derek took it out of my hands. He used the two spare moments we had, while everybody started going further in.
-Give me that.
-I am not sick! - i whispered to him.
-Still, you can't lift! And you nearly spit up your stomach on the plane, so that's it! - he took it from me.
-Fine..- i gave in, letting him take it.

As we were sitting at the kitchen table, surrounding it with Derek's sisters, and some of their boyfriends, Zola was still sitting in my lap, not wanting to let go.
-So, when did you adopt her exactly? - Nancy asked me, while holding two cups of coffee.
-Two years ago. She's more than three now. - i smiled. As she heard the number three, she shew up three of her fingers.
-Oh, she is gonna be a doctor. - Derek sighed smiling.
-It's so strange to see you as a father. - Amelia commented.
-But good strange. - Liz assured him
-Grandmaa! - a boy ran in with cars in his hands.
-Meredith? - the boy called my name, and if i remembered it correctly, his name was Logan.
-Yeah? - i turned to him as soon as i could.
-Can she play? With us? - he pointed to Zola.
-We want to show our cars!
-Of course she can. - i smiled, putting Zola down onto the ground, letting her stand on her own.
-Do you like Barbies? - an older girl appeared, with dolls in her hands, and Zola nodded, accepting one of the dolls that were handed to her.
-Mum, can we show her the room? - another redhead asked, from Liz.
-If they let her. - she smiled at Derek and me.
-Go Zozo! - Derek encouraged him, and we watched her walk out with the other kids, forgetting about me as she got a barbie.
-Coffee? - Nancy handed us the pots.
-Actually, can i get some water instead? - i declined it.
-Yeah, sure. Derek?
-I'll take the coffee. - he squeezed my hand under the table.
-How was your flight? - Amelia asked me.
-It was - Derek started, but he was cut off.
-I know how your flight was dummy, i already asked you. I was curious about her's! - Amelia told him evil.
-Mer, help me out please, didn't we take the same plane? - he asked for my opinion.
-Well, you know she asked you already. - i teased him.
-How is that they are my sisters but they are already by your side? - he joked laughing.
-Can you win against her? - Liz asked bopping her head to me.
-Have you talked to her yet?
-So, how is your sister, Meredith? Lexie? - Carolyn broke their little argument off, asking about my sister.
-She is great. Started her residency. It's going well for her. At least yet. And she is still with Mark.
-Kind of living together. Or i think so.
-Kind of?
-She moved in with Mark into an apartment. But sometimes they sleep at my old house.
-And that other bridesmaid? - Nancy questioned.
-Christina? - Derek helped him out.
-She's good. Bumpy road, but she's going. - i smiled thinking of her.
-Is Kathleen coming? - i asked them, as Derek's hand massaged my back secretly, along my spine.
-She'll be here for dinner. She is still working. - Nancy gave an explanation.
