The day came to an end.

Everyone left the classroom. Everyone aside from Rihanna and Kurt, who now sat on the green sectional, reading.

Rihanna finally relaxed her expression, not fazed by the mute guy. She walked to the glass wall and looked out into the silent sky.

Her phone rang. She picked it up immediately. "Hey Vincent."

"Hello sweetheart. How was your first day at F.A.I.T.H.?"

"Hell."

"Really?"

"Its still hard to be in the same room with something that reminds you of everything that you don't want to remember."

"Other than that?"

"Other than that...? It's like stepping out from the lion's den into heaven. Everyone is peculiar and charismatic. I don't think all of them appreciate my presence in-between them yet, but for some reason, I have high hopes."

Kurt stood up and made his way to where Rihanna stood. He turned and laid his back against the glass.

Rihanna looked over at him, estranged.

Or if this was his way of telling her to leave. Of dictating ownership of the room after classes were over.

She knew his muteness won't do her harm. He seemed to be too self-preoccupied to really care about anyone else. It's exactly what interested her in him from the start.

Finally, he turned his head and looked at her, seemingly done with contemplating his thoughts. "Why do you avoid Lexis like he's the plague?"

He managed to catch her in genuine shock. For a moment, she wondered if the voice had really come out of him, the person who stood there studying her face with narrowed eyes.

"You're–you're not mute?"

"I am. I just talk to those I want to I guess. I'm sure it'll stay a secret though, wouldn't it?" The threat was clear in his tone.

"Oh wow..." The guy that everyone thought was mute chose to talk to her out of all people.

He looked away again, a smile on his lips. "You don't like to look at him, get near him, see him, even hear him talk. You flinch the moment you hear his voice. Why? How I see it, Katerina seems to be the bigger threat."

Rihanna made her way so that she was standing in front of him, face to face, she said. "To be completely honest? I'm not afraid of him."

His smile slowly went away with the confusion he felt.

"I'm afraid of..."
