Lexis Ellis sat on a desk, his long legs crossed in front of him and his smile taunting. That's the worst thing you can see on Lexis' face: his relaxed smile. It meant everything is but okay. That's just who he is. He naturally puts a void to all things humane.

Across from him, Joshua Lenz whimpered. His knees were shaking in an uneven rhythm. And because of it, his body didn't want to stay upright at all anymore.

"You look so vulnerable." Lexis mocked him, his deep voice low and controlled. "You're shaking like a child."

Joshua's nose flared as he glared at Lexis. He hated him as much as he was terrified of him. He wished he could beat the living daylights out of him, to death even, but Joshua also knew Lexis was the one thing he couldn't do so much as breathe on.

"Now you look like you want to hit me." Lexis said, the smile not leaving his face. He sighed in sarcasm. "That hurts my feelings."

Joshua whimpered as he looked down at Lexis' hand that held the knives. "Leave me alone. Please, just leave me alone!" He insisted. He wished he could walk away, but the chances of him living while standing against the wall over here were much higher than him taking a single step.

Lexis looked at the dartboard above Joshua's head. Then looked back at Joshua.

"I could stop. I'll stop today if you'd like. Just make sure I don't see you again in the Academy tomorrow."

Joshua was fed up. He practically had the whole Academy on his tail everyday, reminding him of how unprivileged he was, however, that was a cruel story and being under Lexis' mercy was another.

"Don't you have any common sense? Are you not in any way feeling contrite about what you have done?"

Tomorrow being the first day of the new school year, Joshua had hope that he could make it. Last year he did, so he can do it this year as well, right? All he had to do was hold on. Bear the pain Lexis will put him through and do well in his classes. Surely a miracle will happen and everything will become okay. Surely.

He closed his eyes shut. "I can't."

Lexis lost his smile. His eyes became similar to the tip of a sword.

Joshua could only whimper, and watch those tiny knives with more fear from them than the devil himself.

"You want to survive here?" Lexis' voice was suddenly cold. Deadly. "You said that you want to survive here no matter what, didn't you?"

Joshua's knees barely held him as he stared at Lexis with a disgusted expression. If one of those knives hit him in the head...in the eyes....in the neck.

"Are you going to change your mind?"

Joshua stayed quiet. His expression still showcasing his distaste. His eyes still wet. His lips still trembling.

Lexis grabbed a knife with his right hand and drew his arm back, ready to throw at Joshua again.

Joshua's silence was weighed down by his fear.

"Are you going to change your mind?!"

Joshua shut his eyes tight and let out a whimper. "Please stop!" He demanded in a terrified whisper.

"Then leave. Get out of this school."

The moment Joshua opened his eyes again, Lexis threw the third knife. It landed an inch above Joshua's head.
