placement: winner of most addictive category

contest:  2016 Fairytale Community Retelling Awards

I was one of the winners of the 2016 Fairytale Community Retelling Awards. My category was Most Addictive. It meant a lot to me because my story did not have much success at that point. It was one of the first (and definitely the biggest) validation I received that my book is not bad. I realized t was actually pretty good.

1 what's a good piece of advice for a newcomer?

Write your story the way you want and do not stress about reads, votes, or comments. Your opinion is what really matters. If you are passionate about what you are writing, readers will find you. Some writers find immense success in a short period of time, others amass their audience over time. Either way, the most important thing is that you care about the book you are writing.

2 what inspired you to write?

Mostly the fact that I loved to read, and I could not find the stories I wanted. As a child, I found myself disappointed by the endings of the books I would read. I would think of alternative plot lines and character arcs. Finally, I realized that I could write the story I wanted to read. So I have.

3 how would you celebrate a publishing deal?

First I would tell my mom. Then we would get food out and start planning a trip to Disney World. My current series is a set of Fairytale Retellings, one of which is about pirates, so I cannot think of a better way to celebrate than going there with my mom.

4 if you could hang out with your favorite celeb for a day, who would you choose and what would you do?

I suppose my favorite celebrity would be Katherine McNamara. I would probably just talk to her and ask questions about her projects, life, and stuff. Not very interesting, but since I have followed her career for years, I'm very curious. Also, I would ask her opinion on my book and the character I designed about her.

5 Who is your favorite author?

Oh, um . . . favorite author. I have multiple. Kelley Armstrong and Mary Elizabeth Summers are my constant all time favorites off Wattpad.

6 what's your favorite holiday and why?

Christmas!! I'm a Christian, so I love everything about this holiday. The Christmas Carols, making Christmas cookies with my family, going to the Christmas Eve service, hearing the Christmas story, decorating/enjoying the trees (we have one for each room . . . Christmas is a big deal around here), our Christmas Eve tradition, reading Christmas books, and watching our Christmas movies. Oh! And hot chocolate. I really like her chocolate, especially while watching The Polar Express.

7 what's your favorite book?

Tied between the Bible, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I like plenty of others, but these are the only two I read frequently (usually once a year).

8 what's your schedule regarding your writing?

I have no schedule. It all depends on school and work. I usually get to write in ether the morning or the evening. I also have lately been marathoning with my @cross-warrior every night.

 9 what's your dream vacation?

Comic Con. Always wanted to go, but I have not been able to. I would especially enjoy going to one in New York City. Then I could see some other things I enjoy as well.

10 how would you handle a bully?

Not to sound lame, but I would tell an adult. I mean, if this is a really pathetic bully, I might try ignoring them first, but if things persist, are really bad already, or escalate, I am getting an adult

11 what's the best way to spend a rainy day?

Reading or writing. Hands down. I mean, there are other things I enjoy doing, but they are usually related to those two.Well, Shatter Like Glass is my main novel on my account. I would recommend it because I personally feel it selves into topics people may want to think about that are not found in most media. I include themes of loyalty, family, and morality. Morality is a big deal in the conflict between my protagonist and antagonist, something I really do not feel stories examine.
