contest : Book Worm Awards
placement: 2nd place in the Action and Mystery
I participated in the Book Worm Awards 2018 in the Action and Mystery genre. Securing the second position in the contest means a lot to me . It came to me as a huge encouragement to pick up my pen again and continue writing when I was at the very urge of deleting the very story I had participated with.
1 what inspired you to write?
Definitely my parents. My father used to spun tales and my mother used to read out stories when I was a kid, thus introducing me to the worlds of the authors. The wonder of delving into a world created by a person was the very thing that later inspired me to try my hand at creating something of my own.
2 what's your favorite book?
It is extremely difficult to say: This is my favorite book. I have read so many books and each one of them are special to me in their own way. But I must say, Jhumpa Lahiri's works are my favorite because they are so realistic. 'The Hungry Tide' by Amitabh Ghosh is one of my most favorite books.
3 what's your favorite holiday and why?
Diwali is definitely my most favorite festival. Not just for me but for my family too. This is because, i nor village (where my mother had spent a majority part of her childhood) every house. including ours, celebrates it with grandeur. We go there just once every year during the Diwali and it is definitely a sight to be seen.
4 Who is your favorite author?
I love and respect many authors but if I have to say, then besides Jhumpa Lahiri, Amish Tripathi and Devdutt Pattanaik are two of my most favorite authors. I highly recommend the last two authors to anyone who wants to read Hindu mythology in a fresh perspective.
5 if you could hang out with your favorite celeb for a day, who would you choose and what would you do?
If we are talking about celebrity crushes, then there are literally so many that I can't even choose. But if I could hang out with a celeb, then it would be Tom Holland (because he loves dogs).Definitely spend the whole day in a dog shelter!
6 how would you spend a rainy day?
Under a blanket with a steaming cup of tea or coffee and a Stephen King book.
7 how would you celebrate a publishing deal?
By watching a movie while eating Biryani.
8 what's the best way to handle a bully?
The best way to handle a bully is with mental strange and courage to stand up for oneself and the others. Also, sometimes a bully bullies because he or she has been/is getting bullied. So, if possible, a good conversation helps too.
9 Are you still surprised when you gain a new vote, follow or comment?
Yeah. I am still one of the undiscovered authors. It is really hard to gain recognition.
10 what's your favorite movie?
My favorite movie is definitely Schindler's List - shook me to the core.
11 what's your favorite snack?
My favorite snack is chicken pakora with tea. Yum!
Request time!
I think people can give my book "CAMOFLAUGED" a try because it has got action, a little mystery, a little romance and what more, the female and male MC get equal importance. I cannot speak for any one and say, "You would like it" but I can at least say, "It is worth a chance."
