June 28th - Prompt: Young

----------

"Would you stop with that excuse!" Edmund cried. "So what if I was young?! So what if I was only twelve?! Twelve is still plenty old enough to know the difference between right and wrong!"

Peter took a deep breath, before he swallowed hard. "It's not - not an excuse." He murmured slowly. "It's the truth, plus you were enchanted too, if the young thing isn't enough, then that sure is."

Edmund ran a hand through his hair, collapsing onto the bed beside him and laying down so he was staring up at the ceiling. "It - It happened almost eight years ago." He choked. "And I still can't forgive myself, I'm twenty tomorrow Peter!"

Peter sighed sadly, sitting down beside him and placing a hand on his knee. "As much as I wish you'd forgive yourself," He murmured. "I understand, and I know nothing we say is gonna change your mind, only you can do that. Forgiving yourself is something you need to do in your own time, even if it takes years."

Edmund slowly shook his head. "I don't ever think I'll forgive myself." He choked.

"You have your whole life ahead of you Ed." Peter told him. "There's time, perhaps one day you will."

Edmund stared at him for ages, before sighing. "Maybe." He muttered, but he didn't sound like he agreed.

Peter sighed a little. "Come on." He breathed. "We've both got things we need to be getting on with."

Edmund nodded slowly, sitting up. "Yeah I suppose." He breathed.

Peter hesitated a little. "Try and have fun tomorrow yeah?" He said.

Edmund was quiet, before he smiled. "It's my birthday." He breathed. "Why wouldn't I have fun?"
