March 12th - Prompt: So close

"It was so close..."

Edmund looked up at Peter's choked voice, swallowing hard. "Yeah." He whispered.

Peter sat slowly beside his brother, resting his cheek on the top of his head. "Are you okay?" He asked.

Edmund hesitated. "Honestly?" He murmured.

"Please." Peter said with a nod.

"I - I'm tired." Edmund whispered. "Sore too, still trying to wrap my head around what actually happened."

Peter nodded again. "That's understandable." He sighed. "But it's over now, and she's dead."

"You telling me that after I'd woken up was the best thing I think I'd ever heard." Edmund breathed.

Peter smiled gently. "It may of been close." He whispered after a while. "But it didn't happen, and that's the best thing that's happened to me in my entire life."

Edmund swallowed hard and buried his face agaisnt Peter's chest. "I'm glad I'm still here." He choked out.

Peter's eyes slipped shut. "So am I." He murmured. "More than you'll ever know."
