Today is Remembrance Day (Where I live). It's a day that we spend remembering the soldiers who fought for us in all the wars around the world. We wear poppies leading up to and after this day as a way to remember the poppies that grew between the crosses where the soldiers were laid to rest.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead.
Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

~John McCrae

This was a poem that was written about the poppies and about the war, which we remember every year. This day is a time of reflection and remembrance about those who gave their lives to serve our beloved country.
