I love writing letters

Not emails that take only a second to send 

Or a text message which hardly has any real words in it

But letters

Real letters

What people today might refer to as snail-mail

Pen pals

As a child I never saw the point of sending letters half way across the world to try and become friends with someone that I had never met

But now, I think I do understand

The feeling of joy that you get from a surprise letter like a gift

It's such a small thing 

And yet

It's not

I'm able to communicate with someone across the world from me

I think it's a special thing 

Even if it's just sending a letter to your friend

But try sending a letter

You might just be surprised
