I was kind of nervous about what Gerard would choose for a date. My mom gave me a $20 bill, and that's it.

I met Gerard at his house after school on Friday, dressed in black skinny jeans and a band tee. Gerard wore the same thing.

That was a relief, at least I knew he didn't wanna eat anywhere fancy.

"Where do you wanna go?" I asked.

"Where do you wanna go, Frankie?" he giggled.

"Ummm, I dunno, I only have $20 for us. I don't think-", I was cut off by Gerard's talking.

"Uh, no my mom gave me her credit card and I'm paying. You keep the $20 and put it in your fund for some guitar", he winked.

I laughed and said the first restaurant that came to mind.

"IHOP!" I said in the mood for pancakes and coffee.

"Well said", Gerard laughed. "Can we stop at Starbucks on the way there?"

"Of course we can", I laughed as we started walking in the direction of our local IHOP.

We stopped at Starbucks and Gerard got a Mocha Frappuchino. He offered to buy me some but I declined. I just wanted black coffee from IHOP.

We walked along while Gerard slurped his Frappuchino, holding hands all the while. Some people screamed insults like "fag" out their window. Some people gave us dirty looks. Some people freaked out at the sight, overjoyed that someone had the courage to do it. Some people didn't give a Fuck.

Just like every time me and Gerard walk somewhere. Who cares though? I didn't and I'm sure Gerard didn't either.

We got to the restaurant and were seated at a table.

A joyless waitress came to our table.

"Ugh, hi welcome to IHOP where you FAGS aren't allowed", she said waving.

"I'll have a Dr. Pepper please ma'am, thank you", Gerard sassed.

"Can you hear? Is the gay blocking your ears? I was politely kicking you out", she fumed.

"And I'll have black coffee and an iced water, no lemon please and thank you", I said going along with the charade.

"Oh, I could use a glass of iced water. But keep the lemon please?" Gerard requested.

She grunted and walked away. She returned with a manager.

"Is there a problem here Tiffany?" the man politely asked.

"These fags are talking back to me. I told them to get lost but they obviously can't hear straight", she rambled on.

"I obviously wouldn't be able to hear straight if I myself weren't straight, ma'am", Gerard sassed again.

The manager laughed and walked away. He returned with an envelope.

"Here is your final paycheck Tiffany, we were about to fire you anyways", he said.

She stormed out of the restaurant angry and the manager said he'd get us a new waiter.

A girl stood up and came over to our table and plopped down across from us.

"Hi, I'd like to take care of your check for that beautiful show of bravery", the nice woman said. "Hi, I'm Ms. Morrison, you may recognize me from the local news. We were doing a story tonight on how customers react to rude workers, is there anything you have to say?"

"It wasn't bravery. It was standing up for yourself. People all over are pushed around just because of their sexuality and I won't have it", Gerard said.

He was so well-spoken. By the time they were done, our food was ordered and out and the reporter paid for our food and left, probably out for her next destination.

I dived right into my strawberry and whipped cream stack of pancakes while Gerard reluctantly took a bite of his French toast.

"Whats wrong Gee?" I asked, worried about him.

He laughed. "That coffee's got me torn up".

When we were done, we got up and left. We walked back home with the variety of looks as always. I got to Gerard's doorstep when he asked me to spend the night.

I eagerly agreed and didn't even want to get clothes so I went inside and him and I had the BEST. SLEEPOVER. EVER.

I don't think I wanna continue the sleepover because they are one shots. But hey, we'll see c: feedback, corrections, etc are encouraged. Thanks for reading c:
