"You're sure you left her here?" I asked as I took a left, with Chase on my trail. "Yes. We were around here," Athena said and her voice sounded into my helmet.
"Why the hell would you leave her anyways?" Ricky asked and I could hear Athena sigh. "Because she's a big girl. She can handle herself. Trust me, she's not dead," Athena said and I paused as I peered closer.
"Chase you see that right?" I asked. "Yeah, I can," He answered as I slowed down. "What'd you guys find?" Harley asked.
"Kat's bike," I answered as I climbed off my bike and placed my helmet on the handle as I walked past hers and looked around. "She's not here," I said as Chase got off too and joined me at my side.
"We'll be there soon. Oh she went down this weird pathway behind you," Athena said as her voice vibrates off my wrist and Chase and I turned around and saw the pathway.
"You're sure she's not dead?" I asked warily as I tried to look down the path but it was complete darkness. We heard motors pull up and I turned around as Athena, Harley, Carter, and Ricky arrived. They took off their helmets and joined us.
"You're joking. She went down there?" Harley asked as she pointed to the pathway and Athena groaned. "You guys aren't serious," Athena grumbled as she walked past all of us and began walking down the path.
"Are we meant to follow her?" I asked as I pointed to Athena's retreating figure.
"Come on," Harley asked as she took my arm and I looked back at the boys. "If you need us..." I said before tapping our wristwatches and they nodded.
We both jogged towards Athena and walked on either side of her. "Where the hell could she have gone?" Athena muttered as she scanned the streets.
"Hey, see if you can sniff her out," Athena said to me as she waved her hand around and I rolled my eyes.
"I can turn into any animal. That doesn't make me a dog," I muttered as my eyes glowed and I felt all my senses heighten.
We kept walking as I tried to focus. "You hear anything?" Harley asked.
"Shut up," I growled as I looked at her.
"Oh my God, is that fangs-"
"Quiet! She's like in her wolf mode right now-"
Snap!
I immediately stopped walking and they stopped too. "What is it?" Athena asked as my head quickly snapped behind me. "N-Nothing I thought I heard something," I said as the glow in my eyes diminished and I shook my head. "It was probably nothing," I muttered and they shrugged and we kept walking.
"You think the boys are okay?" Harley asked and I tried to speak into the wristwatch but only got a static response.
"Damn," I muttered as I tried hitting it and stopped as I slowly looked up and felt Athena's glare on me.
"Sorry," I mumbled as I held my hands in the air in defence. "That's why we never heard from her," Harley said as she got a static noise too.
A low growl rumbled and the ground shook slightly. We all stopped. "You heard that right?" Harley whispered and I nodded. We turned around and a Fire Hunter stood in front of us.
"Maybe they kidnapped her," Athena muttered as we faced him and a loud thud sounded from behind us and I turned around. Another was standing there. "I seriously doubt it," I mumbled.
My eyes glowed and I heard a slight whooshing sound. I looked up and two were falling over our heads and landed on either side of us so we were boxed in.
"We can't even call for backup," Harley muttered and I stepped forward and pulled out the two batons strapped against my back.
"What help were they gonna be anyways?" I asked her as I twirled the batons on my hands.
"Whatever," She groaned as I readied myself and faced the Fire Hunter in front of me. We separated and I ran towards the one in front of me and swung my arm backwards as I attacked.

"Are we meant to let them go?" Cynthia asked as she pointed to Past Athena, Harley, and Kat relaxed on the couch. "No, we gotta wait till they get back, with Kat," Trey said and they noticed we were back.
"Where's Carter? Is he okay?" Past Harley asked and Alex gave her a look and she sighed and sat back on the couch. "He's okay. He'll be back soon," Skylar said softly before joining our small huddle.
"Okay seriously, they should've been back by now," I hissed. "Maybe they ran into a little trouble. So it'll take a little longer," Lucas suggested.

"This is lasting a little long guys," Harley said as she tackled a Fire Hunter to the ground and blasted him with a few volts from her wrist taser.
"We need an exit route," I said before doing an ariel to dodge a ball of fire that was flung towards me.
I hit him with a few of my best combos before sharply swishing my hand and sending his body flying into an iron railing. He landed on the floor with a thud.
"Okay, I got a diversion. On my mark," Khloe said as the Fire Hunters easily got up and approached us again. Harley and I stood back to back, before separating and attacking.
There was a loud growl and a cheetah stood a few feet from us. "I think that's the diversion," I said to Harley.
She blasted the Fire Hunters with volts from her taser before we ran back where we came from. We almost collided into the boys and they looked startled as we ran out of breath.
"We heard animals," Carter said as he looked concerned. "Khloe. She's on her way," I said to him before testing out my wristwatch. I sighed in relief as the signal went through. "What's up?" Skylar's voice sounded through my watch and I lifted it up to my mouth before walking away from the others.
"We didn't find Kat. She couldn't reach us because the area she walked down seems to cut off the signal. We found the Fire Hunters and we're sending our location to you, now." I said quickly as I tapped a few buttons on my bike's touch screen and sent it to all of them.
"Got it. We'll be there in 5," Skylar said and cut off comms as I jogged towards the others. "Khloe's on her way back," Harley said as Khloe walked casually out of the alleyway.
"Are you okay?" I asked cautiously and she pushed her perfectly tamed hair out of her face and used her finger to rub a scarlet liquid off the fangs showing through her gums.
We all stood in shock and she looked confused. "What? Never seen a little blood before?" She questioned as Carter shakily pointed to the obvious blood on the side of her lip.
"When I transform it doesn't taste like anything. Trust me," She assured but I doubt that's what he was afraid of.
"Anyways. Three are dead. One got away," She said as she smiled and the fangs slowly disappeared and the orange in her eyes diminished.
"Here's an idea. How about we lure them to our timeline and fight there. It'll be way safer," Harley suggested and I thought about it.
"If we stay here, there are too many casualties at play and us fighting alone is putting the future in jeopardy," She continued and you couldn't really argue with her. We all looked at Carter and he looked confused.
"Is this part where I give my opinion?" He asked in an unsure voice and we all nodded. "If something were to happen here, it would change your futures. Even though I don't know any of you right now, I wouldn't want your future selves to change," He explained and I smiled slightly.
I wish he never died.
"Okay so it's decided. We're going home," Ricky muttered and I immediately groaned loudly. "What?" Chase asked me. "Where the fuck is Katalina?!" I asked and Ricky pointed behind me and I turned around.
"Oh, thank God," I sighed in relief as Katalina walked towards us.
"Woah, you look a mess," Chase chuckled and she looked like she was in a trance as she looked down at her hands.
"What did you do?" I asked, immediately recognising that look of guilt on her face.
"I-I don't know," She mumbled and there was a loud explosion that shook the ground. She immediately crouched to the ground and let out a whimper as she held her hands against her ears.
A large fire roared just a few houses down and it quickly lit up each house in its passing. "Hey! What the hell just happened?!" Cynthia said into the comms and my eyes widened.
"There are people in those houses," I said frantically. I quickly spun around to face the others whilst I held up my wristwatch to my mouth.
"Chase and Carter, take out that fire. Alex, take Natalie with you and make sure the rest of the town is still compelled. No one else leaves their homes. Khloe, I need you and Skylar in the sky. Everyone else is on rescue duty. Go!" I ordered and everyone set off to do their jobs.
I quickly ran towards the houses and entered one. Harley joined me as the fire grew and the family sat motionless on the couch. "They're still compelled. I need you to undo it," I said to her as the house slowly became overwhelmed with flames.
"I can do every house on this street at once!" She yelled and I headed for the door. "Do it!" I yelled as I ran to the next house. The family was uncompelled and panicking. "My son! He's upstairs!" The mother screamed and I nodded as I raced up the slowly collapsing stairs and to the top floor.
A chunk of the roof fell in front of me and I jumped back and moved around it. I checked every room until I opened one.
My heart dropped slightly as I took in the screaming baby and I looked behind me and my eyes widened as the flames chased me. I quickly ran to the cot and gently picked up the baby. I held him in one hand and stuck my other and my eyes glowed green as the glass window shattered.
I felt the floorboards collapsing at my feet as I jumped out of the window without thought. I gripped the baby with both hands and I felt the energy of the house exploding behind me as I steadied my feet. My eyes glowed and I slowly descended to the ground.
I sighed in relief and the green diminished as I handed the mother and her husband their child. They both thanked me multiple times and I quickly headed into the other houses.

"Guys the fire isn't stopping!" I heard Carter's voice yell into the comms and I stopped running and looked around, slightly out of breath. "The streets are on fire. We can't keep up with the flames," Cynthia said as she stopped running and stopped in front of me.
"It's like the fire doesn't want to stop." I said as I looked around at the panicked families. "Or it's not a natural fire," Cynthia added and she looked at me. It hit us at the same time and I shook my head and groaned as we both started running to look for her.
"Anyone got eyes on Kat?" Cynthia asked into the comms. "I see her!" I heard Khloe's voice as I looked above and saw a large bird with long wings fly overhead. "Corner of East Street and Monroe. Go!" Skylar said into the comms and we kept running ahead.
We turned the corner and a figure running away was just up ahead. "Try to get closer," I said to Cynthia before I stopped running and glitched before I saw darkness. I stepped into the light and found myself standing in front of Katalina and she jumped and stopped running before she collided into me.
She turned around and was prepared to take off again, but Cynthia was standing behind her.
"We know you're causing this and we need you you stop," I said cautiously and she shook her head, her eyes stained red from crying. "I can't stop his. I don't know how to stop this," She said slightly out of breath.
"But that isn't a natural fire. It won't put out-" Cynthia added and Kat turned to face her. "But it's not me causing it," Kat cut her off and pleaded.
"I'm cursed." She said with tears in her eyes.
What??
"I can't control my abilities anymore. I-I'm not meant to control it," She stuttered as she looked off into the distance, just past me. I turned around but there was no one there. "Hey, just calm-" I assured but she shook her head.
"I can't fight against the Fire Hunters. I can't go home." She said as she started panicking again. "I'm cursed," She said in a slow voice as she looked at the ground, as if it was just hitting her now. She repeated it multiple times as she looked around frantically and Cynthia and I slowly stepped away from her.
"Uh guys? We have a problem here," Cynthia said cautiously into her wristwatch. "Alex?" Athena said on the other line. "On it," He responded and in a few seconds, he appeared in front of us.
He grabbed Kat and she struggled against him but they both glitched away and disappeared.
"She's the one causing the fire isn't she?" Skylar asked through the comms and Cynthia and I both held up our wrists. "She said she was cursed," Cynthia answered. "Wait cursed?" Harley repeated.
"Something about how she can't control her abilities." Cynthia continued as she nodded her head towards the direction she came from and we began walking back.
"She obviously caused the fire but she couldn't stop it," I added as we reached the houses and the fire was out. Whatever Alex did worked.
"She's just overwhelmed, she's not cursed," Lucas interjected as he, Chase, Carter, Natalie, Ricky, and Skylar approached Cynthia and me and I lowered my wrist. "She is cursed," Khloe said and we all stood in silence.
The bird landed on the ground and orange dust appeared from beneath its feet and Khloe stood upright and pushed her hair out of her face as she walked towards us. "The Night of the Fallen Star? The curse that one Inhuman is destined-"
"to gain unimaginable powers that could split the earth," Trey finished as he realised.
"Wait, she's the cursed one?" Athena said loudly as she walked towards us. Harley jogged to her side and they both joined our circle. "It all makes sense, the weird transition, her lack of control..." Khloe added.
"She wasn't transitioning into one of the older Inhumans," I said. "She was turning into what she was born to be," Skylar said quietly as she looked down at her hands.
"If anything, now would be the best time for us to get out of here," Natalie mumbled as she looked behind us and I turned around and looked at the rows of ruined houses.
"Kat's like a ticking time-bomb, and now that she has all this power, who knows what she can do," Ricky said and we all looked at each other, doubt on everyone's faces. A glitch appeared in front of us and Alex walked out, alone.
We all looked at him, awaiting an answer.
"Anyone know a chick named Natassia?"
