I stopped for a second to catch my breath but screamed as one stood in front of me. His eyes were black and they looked slightly familiar.
"Kat!" Skylar yelled as she pulled me away to safety and I stumbled backwards as we regrouped in a circle. "Okay please tell me one of you has a bright idea or something," Natalie said and I raised my eyebrow.
"You guys are The Originals," I reminded them. "Okay? And?" Skylar asked and I scoffed. "That in itself should mean a lot," I muttered as Trey joined us.
"You're all legends. These fire hunters should be nothing compared to the threats you've faced," I argued and they didn't look so sure.
"Okay honey, take it from us, The Originals," Natalie began as she looked at me. "Legends or not, a team is nothing without each other,"
One of the townsmen let out a roar and my eyes widened slightly. "What the fuck is his problem?" Natalie asked as she crossed her arms. "Okay, what are these things?" Trey asked as they edged closer to us, slowly.
"Okay, his eyes turned black and I've only seen that happen once," I began as my mind thought back to that period of time.
Everything was different then.
"Okay and?" Skylar rushed me as I quickly tried to place my thoughts together. "And if I'm right, then I've neutralised the threat before, and we have a chance of making it out alive," I said in a fast-paced tone as the Fire Hunters edged closer.
"Okay, and how will you know if you're right?" Trey asked and I took a deep breath. "You're gonna wish you didn't say that," I mumbled. I moved past them and they yelled protests as I quickly walked towards the closest fire hunter.
I grunted and swung my arm back and hit him across the face.
He froze and the rest of the men stood still as they waited for his reaction. I stared him dead in the eyes as he slowly turned his head back to look down at me.
"That wasn't smart," He said lowly as I held my stance. "Well I needed to get a reaction," I shot back and he smirked as his eyes turned black again.
"You are staring death straight in the face," He advised and I smiled. "Well less than a year ago, I was staring death in the face anyways," I said and took multiple steps backwards as he burst into flames, and the rest followed suit.
"What the hell," Skylar mumbled. "They really live up to their name now," Natalie muttered and the fire beings approached us. "You was meant to die. Then you set us on fire and ran!" One yelled.
"Wait they're the ones you burned," Skylar said as it dawned on me too. "By accident," I added and she rolled her eyes. "Well does it really matter anymore?" Trey mumbled.
"I was right," I whispered to myself.
They're not just Fire hunters.
They're fire demons.

"Okay, do you have a plan of action?" I asked Athena as Jenn, Cynthia, Harley and I walked into Mission Control.
I missed this place. It brings back a lot of happy memories.
Destructive ones too.
"It took me 4 months to figure out the whereabouts of you guys, and that's because I know your timeline. I have no idea where the others could be," Athena said with a sigh and my heart felt for her.
I know she just wants Trey back.
"Well we could help with that," Cynthia suggested as she strolled towards the computer station where Athena was standing. "What information do you need?" Jennifer asked as I slowly walked towards my holopad.
I smiled to myself as I unlocked mine and swiped through the controls.
"They should've let us have these in the new Mission Control," Harley said and I smiled. "You read my mind," I replied.
"Have you thought about the fact that we've been gone for half of the school year?" She asked and I stilled as I realised. "N-No, I haven't actually. Wow," I breathed as I let it sink in.
I wanted to have the best senior year, and now that was taken from me too.
"Sucks being a hero," Harley mumbled and I sighed as I nodded. "God, by the time we get out of here, senior year will be over," I muttered as I stopped playing with my pad.
"So, you know where you're gonna be? You know, depending on whether we graduate or not?" She chuckled and I shook my head. "I was thinking of taking a gap year. Seeing the world and stuff," I said and she nodded her head slowly.
I raised my eyebrow as I peered at Harley. "You have a secret," I said slowly as it dawned on me. "Come on, spit it out," I encouraged and she sighed.
"I um got accepted into that tech university in Tokyo," She said quietly and my face lit up. "Wait, it's not just some tech university. That's your dream school!" I said and she sighed at my overreaction.
"Oh my god, Harl that's amazing. I'm so proud of you," I gushed and she shushed me. "I haven't told anyone yet," She said quietly and my face fell.
"Not even Ch-?"
"Not even Chase,"
"Damn," I mumbled and she nodded slowly. "I know you probably don't wanna hear this since we hurt Athena and stuff," She began and I tilted my head to the side in confusion.
"But, ever since we got back from California, Chase and I have been off. I just think he regrets hurting her so much that it's making him like her even more," She admitted as she lowered her head and I didn't wanna see her this way.
Chase and Harley were made to be together, since that night we slept outside past the Valley and told our secrets even though we were all strangers.
It took them over a year to get to this point, only for it to end just as fast.
"Hey, you should start by telling him that you got accepted. If he wants you, he would consider staying together or at least be happy for you," I advised and she nodded her head slowly. She and Athena are really the only ones with pathways that they've been striving for their entire lives.
She doesn't know I know, because I had to raid her beloved tablet just to find it, but I know she wants to go to Yale. After we became popular at Woodcreek, I thought that dream was out the window, but it's still there.
I'm not sure what it means for her and Trey, but we should probably focus on finding him first.
"Okay, so can you list to me the possible major events they could be at?" Athena asked Cynthia and Jennifer as Harley and I joined them. "Oh there's so many," Cynthia said.
"Birthdays, Funerals, Family moments," Jennifer listed. "The day we became Inhumans, That battle between those two generational Inhuman teams," Cynthia continued.
"Ooo that was messy," Jennifer commented and Cynthia nodded in agreement.
"World wars, civil wars, Famines, Slavery..."
"Near-death experiences, heartbreaks..."
"Fire Night, the years we spent running away from Fire Hunters..."
"Oh wait! I got it!" Cynthia perked up and Athena raised her eyebrow. "Trey and Natalie had a past right? So they could've travelled back to when they first met, or when their families met," Cynthia suggested and Athena held a straight face as she wrote those ideas down.
Ouch.
"As for Skylar and Katalina, it would have to be in Agrabedrydad," Jennifer added and Athena blew a shaky breath. "Okay, umm that's great. I'll work on that," Athena said as she quickly gathered her notes and left.
"Is it something we said?" Cynthia called out to her retreating figure.

"Hold on, you were being haunted by demons of fire?!" Natalie asked as Katalina dodged one of the punches from the Fire Hunters. "I thought you guys watched over us!" She yelled back as I retreated away from three demons that were drawing closer. I tried to focus but my mind wandered to Athena.
If I didn't let her go, would she be here right now?
"Now is not the time to be dreaming about your girlfriend," Natalie hissed as she blasted a demon and he flew backwards and landed on top of the three that were trailing me.
"Get out of my head," I warned and she rolled her eyes. "You think I like being able to know what you're thinking?" She added.
"I thought you said that we had a chance to make it out alive," I said to Katalina as we regrouped. "Well I may have overestimated the rage of these particular demons," She said with a shrug.
"Okay, we can't hold them back anymore, we have to run," Skylar said as she descended from the sky and we all looked back at the demons as they grew in size and we began running.
"They're only gonna keep growing!" Katalina yelled as I looked ahead and focused on what was ahead of us but we stopped abruptly.
"Kat, honey, how many townsmen did you set on fire?!" Natalie asked as more townsmen walked towards us. "N-No it's not possible," She stuttered and I sighed deeply.
I looked behind us and the ones from behind were edging closer. "Uh guys?" Skylar called out as she looked upwards and there were Fire Hunters on the roofs of houses.
Everywhere you turned there were black eyes and figures of flames.
Natalie clasped her hands together and her eyes glowed as she expanded her hands and raised them upwards. "You have about 10 seconds," She warned and before we could think, she placed various domes, trapping the demons.
The ground rumbled as the domes hit the ground and she tensed as the amount of strength needed strained against her.
"Okay, how far away is another town?" Skylar asked and I shook my head. "We can't run. They'll follow us," I said and Natalie let out a grunt of frustration.
"Guys!!!" Natalie yelled out and Skylar started hyperventilating. "Can the stupid hole open now please?!" Skylar screamed out and we all stilled as we felt the wind.
"You guys felt that right? Please tell me you all felt that!" Katalina asked and I nodded as the familiar grey clouds circled our feet.
"YES!" Skylar screamed out and Natalie collapsed and I caught her as the floor opened as we fell into familiar darkness.

"How long will it take?"
"I don't know."
"Wait what's going on?"
"Athena said she can find them"
"I need focus, guys-"
"Wait seriously? How are you gonna do that?"
"I need you all to shut up!" I said loudly and silence fell over Mission Control. "I need to concentrate," I whispered.
I've been overworking myself the last few months that everyone disappeared. I found new ways to tap into magic and new tech to make sure I don't die in the process. In one of the thousands of history books I read, the orb was said to release colours that represented different spirits.
Mine was the spirit of energy.
That means not only do I have telekinesis, where I can move things with the slightest impulse, but with the right training, I can manipulate energy itself.
I could rip open the fabric of time myself.
I haven't told anyone about the last part because I didn't want to actually have to do it. I wasn't trained, I learned on my own, and it was really hard. It also sounds like a lot of work.
I blew out a breath and opened my eyes as I skilfully spun the energy I created. My eyes glowed and the intense feeling grew as I focused on the location I wanted to access.
It would've been way easier if I could visualise based on a memory or a piece of that time period, but I have to work based off of what Jenn and Cynthia told me.
I felt my eyes glowing brighter as I locked onto the location and began thinking of them. I need the precise area of where Trey and Natalie are so I can trap them into the hole.
"Is she almost done?" I heard Alex whisper loudly and I blocked out his voice as I continued.
I heard the increase of the winds as I open my eyes and the grey clouds began circling above our heads. "Wait she's opening the hole. How is she doing that?" Lucas asked. "Focus!" I yelled loudly and they stayed quiet.
Turns out, the fabric of time is sealed pretty tight.
It takes a lot of energy to produce a small tear, and possibly someone's entire life force to open up a large enough hole.
"How close are you?!" Cynthia called out as the wind picked up in Mission Control and came out as strong gushes of wind.
"Give me a second!" I yelled back as I felt it edging closer and closer.
Once it was close enough I used the last of my strength as pulled the energy in my hands apart with all my force and the hole appeared. A blast of wind shook the room and I pushed my feet into the ground as my hair flew back and I tried to hold my balance.
The others stood up from the ground and cheered in celebration as I gripped onto the nearest railing for support. I sighed in relief as the green in my eyes diminished.
The hole circled and four figures fell out and dust filled the room. I lowered my head and lifted it up again as the dust settled.
"Oh my God, it worked," Cynthia breathed out as Kat and Skylar coughed violently from the dust.
Everyone's eyes fell to the floor and Trey was lying there with Natalie in his arms.
I stared at them and I felt everyone's eyes on me.
I-I don't understand-
His grip on her tightened and my heart clenched. He gasped for air and coughed loudly before he gently pulled Natalie off of him. He stood up and dusted himself off before looking around.
Everyone else began greeting each other and catching up but I kept my eyes on him. Lucas was the first to give him a hug and Jennifer and Cynthia joined him too. They all checked on him but Jennifer gestured to me, and he turned around.
His eyes locked onto mine and I looked down to Natalie, still passed out on the floor. Silence fell among the room as I looked at him, and then Natalie and I could tell he knew exactly what I was thinking.
"Hey, it's not-" He began but I held in my tears and sucked it up.
"I'm glad you guys made it back safe," I said with a forced smile as I pulled my weight off the railing but instantly regretted it as I closed my eyes and felt myself collapsing.
