"Toga isn't really a villain, right?" Kaminari asked me as we walked to Aizawa's cabin.
"And if she is?"
"I don't think I could date a villain. We're heroes. We're not allowed to do that... are we?"
"Denki. I'm not the right person to talk to about this."
"Yes, you are. You've hooked up with a villain before, haven't you?"
"Uh, you were in the room when Toga and I..."
"I don't mean her. When you being held by the League. You were with them all that time and nothing happened?"
I stopped walking and glared at him. "Look, I don't have to help you right now, you know."
"I'm sorry! I was just curious. Really. There's no one else I can talk to about this. Please help me. What if I really like her?"
Looking at that pitiful face, I couldn't stay mad long.
"I'm trying to say this gently, Denki, but I'm not sure that you should catch feelings after one night."
"Do you think she likes me?"
"I mean..." I shrugged. "Maybe?"
"You're right," he sighed sadly. "Toga and I are just two star crossed lovers, I suppose."
"Yeah... something like that."
Thankfully we made it to Aizawa's cabin a few seconds later. We decided to wait outside the cabin for a few minutes, just to make sure he wasn't in there.
"Was it fun, being with them?" Kaminari asked while we waited. "Being a villain?"
"I wasn't a villain. But... yes. It was at times. They sort of do whatever they want."
Kaminari seemed to contemplate that for a minute. "I could be a villain," he said finally.
"The dangerously sexy villain Chargebolt," I teased. "You've already got the dark jacket and choker thing going for you."
"You think I'm sexy?"
"Sure," I said rolling my eyes. "But seriously, you'd really give up being a hero and everything for a girl?"
Kaminari didn't hesitate. "If it was for true love, yes."
Damn. I was sort of impressed. Would I have said the same thing?
"So which villain did you hook up with?" he asked. And now I was no longer impressed.
"Don't worry," Kaminari said. "I won't tell anyone. I know how to keep secrets."
"You literally do not."
To avoid continuing that conversation, I checked my texts while we waited. I had a couple from last night and this morning that I hadn't responded to. I groaned when I saw one from Overhaul.
Kai: I don't like being ignored.
I'd forgotten to call him back yesterday, so I figured he was probably the first one I should respond to.
Y/n: Sorry they are just working us really hard here. I hardly have even a spare minute with all this training. Sorry.
He immediately responded, like I knew he would.
Kai: I can only tolerate your bad behavior for so long.
Kai: While you're playing at school, I've been working hard for us. I have several investors who want to meet you next week.
Y/n: I don't want to
Kai: The car will be there at the normal time on Monday.
Y/n: Sometimes I feel like you're not listening to me
Kai: I'll talk to you soon, darling.
As frustrating as that was, I breathed a little sigh of relief that at least he wouldn't be bothering me the rest of the week. Now I could move on to the texts I really wanted to respond to.
Tamaki: Good morning?
Tamaki: I didn't hear from you last night. Hope you're okay.
Tamaki: Not that you have to message me every night
Tamaki: Just if you wanted to
Tamaki: I'd like you to
Tamaki: When are you coming home?
Tamaki: Maybe to my home?
Tamaki: Please ignore these. I'm so sorry for bothering you.
I smiled as I read his messages but instantly felt like a jerk that, with everything that had happened, I didn't text him last night. I needed to make it up to him.
Y/n: Good morning :) Can I come over when I get back?
Tamaki: Do you want to?
Y/n: That's why I asked.
Tamaki: But do you want to or are you saying that because I asked?
Y/n: I. Want. To. Come. Over.
Tamaki: I wish I could see you today.
Y/n: We could sext later.
Tamaki: What
I felt a nudge from Kaminari so I put my phone away. "Come on, let's do this," he said.
The door to Aizawa's cabin was unlocked, just like we thought it would be. Even though I knew he wasn't in there, I tiptoed in quietly. Kaminari was going to hide on the side of the cabin in the bushes as a look out. Our plan was for him to make some kind of noise if he saw Aizawa nearby so that I could get out quickly. He could also climb the small bush on the side and knock on the window if a sound didn't work.
All I needed to do was drop the keys and wallet some place where it wouldn't look suspicious. It needed to look like they'd been there all along. This was an easy task that should only take a few seconds.
But the second I stepped into Aizawa's cabin, I was struck by how much even this place, a place where he had only been for two days, felt like him. His papers, his clothes, his coffee mug. All of those emotions from the other day in the rain came flying back, swelling up in my chest.
I sat down on the bed and touched his sheets. He must have brought some from home because they were much nicer than what the rest of us had.
I knew I needed to hurry but I couldn't resist lying down and taking just a second to feel them and think about the man they belonged to.
I didn't get too lost in my feelings because suddenly I heard Denki making some kind of bird noise outside – was that his attempt at an owl?
I tossed the keys on the table and ran toward the door. But when I pulled it open, Aizawa was standing there on the other side.
Damn it, Denki...
"Well, hello," Aizawa said, his eyes surprised for just a second before returning to his normal solemn glare. "To what do I owe this visit?" His dark form loomed over me and continued walking inside, forcing me to back up.
"I.... I...." I stumbled over my words as he came toward me. "I missed you."
His expression didn't change as he got closer, eventually close enough that I was backed up against the wall. He slammed his hands on the wall over my head, blocking me in so I couldn't escape. There was no doubt about it, I was caught.
"I believe you," he said, his eyes roaming from my face down my body. "But I also believe there's something else going on. How did you get in here?"
"You left the door unlocked."
"Yes," he said slowly, "I did. Because I seem to have lost my keys." He eyes roamed back up, meeting mine suspiciously. "You wouldn't know anything about that, would you?"
"Me? No... no... I don't."
Aizawa was so close. Could he hear my heart beating out of my chest? He removed one hand from the wall and ran it down my head, stroking my hair, gently tugging on the end.
"You know you've always been a terrible liar, little kitten."
"I don't know about that..."
"But I have ways of making you tell the truth."
He dropped his arms and suddenly he scooped me up and started carrying me over to his bed.
"Aizawa, I thought you said we couldn't do this anymore."
"That was before you showed up in my bedroom lying to me. Now you need to be punished."
He promptly let me fall onto the bed and started taking off his shirt.
"This is a bad idea," I said, nervously glancing toward the door and windows. Was Kaminari still out there somewhere? Listening? Watching?
"Probably, but right now I'm feeling like it's a very good one." He tossed his shirt onto the floor and climbed onto the bed with me.
"Aizawa," I said, scooting back a little on the bed as crawled up my body, "what if someone hears us?"
"Then I'll need to make sure your mouth is too full to scream," he said, unbuckling his pants.
I was just about to say something when we heard a crash in the bushes outside and both of us froze.
Aizawa got up and went over to the window to look around, but thankfully something caught his eye. Going over to his table, he held up his keys and jingled them in the air.
"Funny. These were right here all along, it appears."
I shrugged and shook my head. "Crazy how that happens. So I'm going to go..."
"You had my keys."
"No, I didn't."
"So that must mean that you took my car."
"No, I didn't."
Aizawa stalked slowly toward me. "My little, sexy, lying kitten."
Without warning he pounced, his entire body weight resting on mine on the bed as he held my wrists down over my head. "Tell me the truth. Now."
I had never been good at lying to that face, and I probably would have said anything he wanted when he was holding me like this. "Okay fine, we may have borrowed your car for a short drive and then I came here to return your keys."
"We?" he asked, gripping my wrists tighter.
"No way," I shook my head. I tried moving my wrists but he wasn't letting go. "I'm not ratting them out."
"It was the blonde idiot who is currently hiding in the bushes out there, wasn't it?"
Damn it all, Denki.
"No," I said loudly, but I nodded my head.
"Where'd you go?"
"To a party."
"Who drove?"
"Uh..."
"Is my car okay?"
"Yes!"
"What time did you get back?"
"Like... a couple hours ago?"
He let out a deep sigh and relaxed his hold on my wrists. Moving to my side, he laid down on the bed next to me, and I rolled over to cuddle on his chest.
"This explains the strange visit from Kaminari and Shinso yesterday," he said. "They came by saying they wanted advice on how to get a girl to like them, namely... you."
I snorted.
"I made them leave but apparently they decided to take some souvenirs."
"I'm sorry. They knew that would be super awkward and you'd be distracted."
Aizawa wrapped his arms around me. "I'm more distracted right now."
Right here, in this moment, he was so warm, and his bed, even though it was the same old mattress that everyone else had, somehow felt comforting. I was still exhausted, so it was only a matter of seconds before I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.
---------
While the class waited for Aizawa to arrive and start the day's training, Todoroki's eyes searched the room. He quickly counted Midoriya and the others; everyone was present and accounted for except for one notable exception. Todoroki stood up and walked over to Bakugo.
"Bakugo, where is y/n?"
"How would I know?"
"I asked you to make sure she got back safely."
Bakugo scoffed. "Sit down. You're not my boss, and she's not a child."
A few rows back Mina nudged Uraraka to get her attention. She nodded toward the two boys. "Girl," Mina said, "this is going to be good, just watch."
"Hey, Todoroki," Mina said to him from her seat. "Y/n never came to our cabin last night or this morning."
"I know. She was with me," Todoroki said to Mina, but his eyes were staring down Bakugo. "I'll go find her," Todoroki said, starting to head toward the door.
Before Todoroki could pass, Bakugo stood up and stopped him, his body blocking Todoroki's path. "Like hell you will. If anyone goes it should be me. She's probably just asleep."
"Good point. But when I last saw y/n, she was on my bed, so I'll start there."
A low growl was starting to form in Bakugo's chest. "Well, she wasn't in your bed for long."
Mina and Uraraka exchanged a wide-eyed look. This was getting juicy fast.
"She might have gone back to her own cabin to sleep after everyone left," said Todoroki. He didn't break the stare going between the two of them. "After all, we were up all night together."
"Yeah, I heard about the sketchy shit the phone charger had you guys doing." Bakugo said as he glared back. "And you saw no problem with dragging her along. Nothing new there, you're always somehow around when she's in danger."
"Get your phone out," Uraraka whispered to Mina. "When the fight starts, start recording."
"You know I'm already there, girl," Mina whispered back, holding up her phone.
"You're right," Todoroki nodded, "Y/n and I have been through a lot together. It's what's made us so close. I wouldn't expect you to understand that kind of connection, Bakugo."
"You of all people want to talk about forming connections with people? I doubt you could connect to the wifi much less y/n."
"I don't think this camp has wifi."
"For fuck's sake. Go sit down, Icy Hot, before you make me do something I won't regret later. Leave y/n to me. She's mine and everyone knows it."
Midoriya leaned over to Kirishima. "Should we do something to stop them?"
Kiri shook his head and pretended to ignore the whole spectacle. "Nope."
"I don't think that's your call to make," Todoroki said calmly to Bakugo, "especially since she spent last night with me and not you."
"Only because I let her," Bakugo replied.
"What would y/n say if she heard you say that?"
"You want to go?" Bakugo growled, bringing his hands up in fighting stance. "We can settle this right now."
At this point Iida stood up from his seat to intervene, but both Deku and Aoyama put their hands out to stop him.
"Don't," Deku said. "We want to see what happens."
"Yes! Young love! We are all way too invested in this," Aoyama agreed.
With a sigh, Iida sat back down.
"What is your problem today?" Todoroki asked Bakugo. "I simply wanted to know where she was and you've turned it into an argument."
"My problem is that you seem to think you're the only one who can take care of y/n."
"No. I think your problem is that you see me as a real threat."
"Do it now," Mina whispered excitedly to Uraraka. "Say it."
"Okay," Uraraka whispered back. "Here I go."
"Do it!"
"I thought y/n was dating Tamaki Amajiki," Uraraka said loudly before ducking down to hide.
"What?" Todoroki asked, turning around to scan the room. "Who said that?"
"Who cares?" Bakugo shrugged. "He's just another show off who doesn't matter."
"That sounds like the pot calling the kettle black," Todoroki said.
"Uh, Todoroki," Deku interrupted, "do you really want to talk about kettles right now?"
"I think it's a metaphor. Look. Bakugo. I thought after her birthday we agreed to not fight over y/n."
"Hey," Deku interrupted again, "about that night..."
"Not now, Midoriya," Todoroki said.
"We're not fighting," Bakugo said. "You're the one trying to start some shit. I'll handle y/n."
At this point, the class was torn equally between those who were eagerly watching this play out and those who were trying to ignore them. Mina and Uraraka could hardly contain their giggles.
"See, with me y/n doesn't have to 'handled' as you so nicely put it, Bakugo, because I respect her and we're simply compatible."
"Whatever," Bakugo huffed. "She has more chemistry with the zombie over there than you."
"Thanks, I think?" Shinso said dryly. "But you're both gross. Has anyone just called her?" Shinso asked, taking out his phone. He called but it rang and rang. "No answer," he said.
"I fucking hate her phone," Bakugo said. "Anyway the last time I saw her she was walking with dunce face over there."
Almost everyone's eyes turned to Kaminari who had snuck in late and was still picking out grass and leaves from his hair and clothes.
"Uh oh," Uraraka whispered. "Denki's in trouble now."
"Why does he look like he got into a fight with a tree?" Mina whispered back.
"Hey, dumbass," Bakugo called over. "Where's y/n?"
"Kaminari," Todoroki asked, "did you walk with y/n to her cabin?"
Kaminari froze, a patch of grass still in his hand.
"Uh...Uh... I... walked with her..." He fidgeted nervously. It was obvious that he was starting to sweat. "She's not here? I don't know why she's not here. She should definitely be here. Shinso," he said, obviously excited to take the attention off himself, "why don't you track her or something?"
Shinso rolled his eyes.
Just then Aizawa walked in and the room went silent. Bakugo and Todoroki sat back down as Aizawa took long strides to the front of the room. Looking out over the class, his dark eyes drifted over to Kaminari only briefly before returning to the rest of the class.
"I'll keep this short. Since at least a few of you worked hard yesterday, I'll give you today off. Go do something and don't bother me." Without another word, Aizawa walked back through the silent class toward the door.
Abruptly he stopped just before leaving them. "Kaminari," Aizawa said, tossing his keys to him. "Since you like driving it so much, go put gas in my car."
