EVERYONE THERE FORMED A CIRCLE AROUND THE FRONT YARD OF MY BROTHER'S HOUSE.
"You're a newborn, so you're going to want to act off your instincts. Don't, they'll be expecting that and it'll make you an easy target," Jasper explained to her as she joined him in the centre.
"What if my instincts are to put them on their knees?" Lucy asked.
"Than go right ahead. Try to resist your instincts to physically fight back," Jasper suggested before he pounced.
Lucy swiftly stepped out of his path and Jasper landed on the ground, except he never got up. He instead started gasping for breath, wheezing, his limbs began shaking violently. His arms bent under his weight until he was laying on the grass.
     Mary Alice whimpered beside us.
     "Everything's okay," Igor assured everyone.
Lucy slowly approached Jasper and rested her hands on each side of his head.
"That was easy," she muttered before she stepped back and Jasper stood, suddenly perfectly fine.
I could easily remember how that felt, the sudden illness, the filling of the lungs and the burning. The pain, knowing you've felt worse but not being able to remember when or how, and then all of it immediately disappearing as if nothing ever happened to begin with.
"That is your gift?" Jasper asked.
     "One of them," Lucy said.
"You were able to make five of the Volturi guard feel that at the same time?"
     "Yeah."
As Jasper turned to Bella, she had already stepped forward, holding onto Edward tightly.
"Try using it on me," she said confidently. "Don't be disheartened if it doesn't work. A lot of things don't."
     She smirked slightly.
"Are you sure?" Lucy asked. "I have a good feeling about it."
     Bella shrugged.
"I'll try to resist," Bella added.
So we all waited and watched while Lucy stared at Bella. Lucy's eyes twitched and just as Jasper started to chuckle, Bella started to cough and suddenly Edward was needed to hold her up.
But before Bella could really fall to the grass as Jasper had, she stopped and just like Jasper, Bella straightened up and looked at Lucy in shock.
"Are there any limits you can feel or think of?" Carlisle asked, stepping forward.
     "I don't know," Lucy retaliated.
"If it's okay with everyone, I want to see how far her talent can stretch," Jasper called out to all of us. "Peter, Charlotte, can you two please run to the other side of the house?"
Without even questioning their friend, they followed his instructions. Trust and loyalty were beautiful hand in hand.
"Eleazar, Carmen, may two run to the beach? If you don't feel anything in half an hour you may return."
They nodded, both looked worriedly at Lucy before running off.
Edward took Bella's hand and they ran to the tree line, and Mary Alice ran to Jasper's side before he told them to do anything.
"Garrett, Kate, Tanya, spread out please?" Jasper asked.
"I don't want to be involved in this," Kate muttered.
"It's to help us know what sort of weapon we have, love," Garrett said, holding on to Kate's hand. "You're dangerous but imagine if we can put all of them on the ground for once?"
Kate looked at Tanya as Tanya looked at her.
     "For Irina," Tanya said.
Her hand brushed Kate's, and she watched Carlisle, as she ran west and stopped just in front of the trees.
Kate and Garrett ran to the end of the long driveway. And Jasper looked over to Carlisle and Esme. Esme took my brother's hand firmly.
"Now Lucy, all of us, to Carmen and Eleazar at the beach, Kate and Garrett at the end of the driveway. Everyone, use your talent on us," Jasper instructed.
Lucy turned to look at her, eyes filled with worry and fear. I gave her my best reassuring smile and Igor nodded his encouragement. Though both of us didn't really want to fill her pain again.
"I'm sorry," Lucy muttered as she turned her eyes to the ground.
Mary and Jasper were the first, though within the same second, I felt the stab of Carlisle's in trouble, and he started to cough with Esme. Then I felt it, the filling of my lungs,  the burning, the weakness.
I wasn't as strong as Igor, but the moment my knees caved under me, he fell too. Both of us coughing, shaking, burning, smelling nothing but death, feeling nothing but pain. I tried to look, tried to see if Carlisle was okay, but I couldn't see, the blurriness had returned. I couldn't see anything beyond the blurr that was Lucy standing in the middle of the yard, and Jasper and Mary at her feet.
It was the longest minute of my life before I realised just how bad I was feeling. Growing weakness, increase of smell. Fear for Carlisle's life getting stronger.
     Was she actually killing us?
"Lucy..." I tried to say between coughs but my letters weren't forming. The word couldn't escape past my vocal cords, it hurt too much. Burnt too much.
     "Luc," Igor growled beside me.
If she didn't stop, would we die before the Volturi got here?
Then just like that, all gone. My limbs had stopped shaking, lungs were empty... as if nothing had happened.
"Are you two okay?" Lucy asked as she ran up to us. "Oh God, I'm so sorry. I'm so, so sorry."
"We're fine," Igor said calmly, rested a hand on her head.
"You've very powerful," I told her with a chuckle.
"That was terrifying," Bella said as she and Edward joined us.
"I saw what was going to happen, but I didn't expect that," Mary agreed with a nod. "Everyone's on their way back."
"Even Carmen and Eleazar?" Carlisle asked and Mary Alice nodded.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Lucy asked, still staring worried at Igor and me.
I laughed and pulled her in for a quick hug.
"Lucy," Jasper called and she ran back out of my arms to him, she even stood at attention like a soldier. Jasper rolled his eyes at that. "Time to fight without your talent. Remember, try to not act off your instincts."
I looked over to Igor as he watched Jasper fight with Lucy. It was difficult to watch the tiny, young Lucy, fight the experienced Jasper, but at least he was going easy on her at the start.
I noticed when Igor looked over to Edward and Edward look at Igor confused.
"Think," Igor said softly. "Be calm. Recognise how your body moves."
Oh! He told Edward to join the fight! Jasper rotated Lucy around so her back was to Edward, and his eyes shot over to Igor in confusion. Igor just gave Jasper a small nod and I moved to join Carlisle and Esme.
"You're too grounded, Lucy," Igor instructed. "You're light, use that to your advantage."
I flinched right with my sister when Lucy, holding on to Jasper's neck, threw herself around his shoulder, and threw herself towards Edward. Of course, with Edward's talent, he was able to dodge, grab her legs, and begin to throw her as well, except she used that momentum, held onto Edward and put him on his back.
Eleazar was laughing when he and Carmen joined us, they saw that.
"Come on, cousins," Lucy said jumping on the spot waving her arms back and forth. "Make it hard."
Jasper got off the ground and stretched his neck, Edward stood with a sneer.
"So, the first the both of us changed was someone suffering a deadly disease," I muttered to my brother, Esme looking at me as I spoke. "Next thing you know, I'll change someone who jumped."
Esme groaned and turned back to the fight.
"If you do, it will be odd," Carlisle said. He chuckled, though it sounded weak... forced and afraid.
"We won't lose, Carlisle," I assured him. "We cannot. We simply have too much to fight for."
I looked over to Igor, who had stepped in to stop the fight, and was suggesting to Jasper something for him to try. The more personalised front of training with newborns.
     "Lucy's amazing," Carlisle noted.
"She really is. She's still so young."
"As you said," Carlisle said softly and stepped forward. He turned to me and waved me forward, I joined him with a smile. "We've got a lot to fight for."
I charged at my brother as we began practising our own fighting.
Funny, how fighting Carlisle was almost fun. Like a childhood game.
